Warhammer Divine Throne

No matter where, people with magic talent or spiritual talent are both chosen by fate and quite unfortunate or pitiable.

In Brittania, these children with magic talent are ruthlessly taken away from their parents by the Lake God Witch or Lake God Prophets. The girls are sent to the Divine Kingdom of the Lake Fairy for training, with only a small portion returning to Brittania as Lake Goddess Saintesses and Lake God Prophets, while the boys disappear forever.

Laine, who knows the secrets of the Lake Fairy, knows where these boys have gone. A minute portion of these boys with magic talent are kept by the Lake Fairy for training as her Heroic Spirit Knights, serving under her command. This group of knights is known as the ”Sons of Brittania” or the ”Lost Sons”. They are few in number, only summoned by the Lake Fairy from her Divine Kingdom when her essence is in danger, and after the battle, these Heroic Spirit Knights disappear immediately. It is unclear whether they are still alive or have their own consciousness.

The rest of the children considered by the Lake Fairy as untrainable are not cruelly killed by her. The Lake Fairy has a trade agreement with the Wood Elves, and these children are sent to be under the Elves’ care. Apart from a few used for sacrifices, most human children are stripped of their magic ability using Secret Techniques and will never grow up, serving as servants to the Wood Elves until their lifespan ends.

Of course, if these children’s families are capable of sending them to the Imperial Royal Wizard Academy, Jialan Council, or the Southern Wizard Alliance, the Lake Fairy never interferes.

Does this mean that children born in the Empire and the Southern Realm with awakened magic talent will have a better fate?

Wishful thinking. Their fate is equally tragic. Most children with awakened magic talent are isolated as freaks and outcasts, and then Demon Hunters come to the villages to execute a large number of these children by fire.

Only a few children with sufficient family status or enough money for tuition are sent to the Wizard Academy. They are considered lucky, but even these children must pass a hurdle. They have to undergo the Academy’s examination to test whether they can resist Chaos Corruption and if they possess enough magic potential to be worth training.

Because any wizard who hasn’t undergone systematic training will eventually become a teleportation gate for Chaos Demons to enter the Mortal World, Chaos’s corruption during spell casting is just a matter of time.

”How long will it take for these children to wake and become of use to us?” the Lake Fairy asked casually.

”It will probably take another three years,” Laine said, looking at the boys in the cultivation pods. Their eyes were tightly shut, faces pained, as they had to confront tests from Chaos Demons on a soul level and withstand modifications from the cultivation pods on a physical level. Otherwise, they wouldn’t qualify as new Grey Knight recruits.

This process takes three years, and Laine doesn’t know how many of the ten boys can last that long. He can only do his best.

”My champion, you’re not in a hurry to leave, are you?” The Lake Fairy produced a bottle of finely brewed Noni Juice by the High Elves, then took out two wine glasses. ”Sit down, let’s talk.”

”Thank you for your help, my lady.” Laine nodded. Secretly gathering so many boys with spiritual talent would be impossible without the full support of the Lake Fairy. Moreover, gathering new recruits in such large numbers essentially encroaches on the Lake Fairy’s vested interests. Her agreement to let Laine do so can indeed be considered very generous, something even Laine hadn’t expected, especially since the Lake Fairy agreed so quickly and also used Divine Power to strengthen the boys’ bodies and souls.

”There’s no need for thanks between us, my champion.” The Lake Fairy opened the glass bottle of Noni Juice and poured full glasses for herself and Laine, then sighed lightly. ”We are currently the firmest allies. You are my chosen companion, and my greatest reliance in overcoming the Moment of Destruction, otherwise, I wouldn’t have entrusted my ’heart’ to you.”

This was a double-edged remark. Laine instinctively felt the necklace on his chest. ”Lilith’s Heart” was filled with the Lake Fairy’s Divine Power, warming his chest. So far, Laine is still unsure of this Divine Artifact’s exact function, as its symbolic meaning currently outweighs its practical use.

”My sword and hammer will guard you till the end,” Laine sighed lightly. ”My lady, there’s no need to test me; you must already understand my thoughts.”

”We are slowly getting to know each other through constant probing and contact,” the Lake Fairy savored a sip of the sweet and sour Noni Juice, looked at the cultivation pods, and swung the toe of her scarlet high heel with her black silk jade foot. ”Laine, do you sometimes think I interfere too much with you?”

”As your Divine Chosen Champion, it is normal for me to receive such Divine Favor and for you to pay attention to and interfere with me,” Laine raised his wine glass, his tone somewhat resigned. ”White Wolf Yurik and the like rarely interfere with their followers, yet the number of White Wolf Knights who can receive Divine Favor is very limited. The more Divine Grace received, the higher the Deity’s demands and interference with their believers. This is very normal. You can’t expect to receive abundant Divine Grace without wanting the Deity’s interference, such a good thing doesn’t exist anywhere in the world, right?”

”The more Divine Grace a Deity bestows upon their chosen, the more they focus on and interfere with them,” the Lake Fairy said, staring at Laine. ”Asuyan has always ignored the Elves, yet besides the First Phoenix King, the ’Guardian’ Ailario, very few High Elves have received his Divine Favor. The Phoenix Guards of Asuyan Holy Hall are required by him to remain silent, and Kazhoyin, the Phoenix Guard Captain as Asuyan’s Anointed, never speaks a word.”

”Investment always requires a return,” Laine stared back into the blue eyes of the Lake Fairy and suddenly smiled. ”So I have always been grateful to you, my lady. Though you do interfere quite a bit in my life, you have also extended your hand to me at crucial times, helping me grow. Achieving what I have within ten years would have been impossible without your help.”

”In the betting game, you must place bets early and extend a helping hand when the opponents most need it to win the most in the end.” The Lake Fairy couldn’t help but feel a bit proud remembering the past. Even the Goddess didn’t expect that Laine would have such impressive origins: ”Cheers, Laine, to our plan.”

”Cheers!” Laine raised his goblet and then drained it in one go.

Putting down the goblet, the Lake Fairy’s lips curled up: ”In the betting game, hesitation is forbidden. Just like that Holy Sanctuary Witch who visited your territory, she hesitated to place heavy bets when you were weak, and now you no longer need her little chips.”

”People always have the instinct to seek benefits and avoid harm. Everyone fears backing the wrong person and suffering losses; it’s human nature.” Laine was aware of the underlying meaning in the Lake Fairy’s words. He knew the Lake Fairy was not fond of Lady Aurora’s arrival.

The Goddess had already used Surya and Mogiana to firmly bind Laine to her camp. From her perspective, she certainly didn’t want Aurora to have any more relations with Laine.

”By the way, what happened between you and that female sorcerer and her mother back then?” The Lake Fairy saw Laine had understood her meaning and did not say more. The Goddess, however, seemed quite interested as she pursued further: ”Can you tell me in detail? Did you peek under their skirts?”

”My lady, you’re eavesdropping on my private chats with Surya again.” Laine looked at the Lake Fairy with a half-smiling expression.

”Your Surya already said it, her husband is my husband too. Is there any issue with me listening in when you talk?” The Goddess was now quite justified regarding this matter. She was clearly very interested in Laine’s undeniable black history: ”I want to know, tell me quickly.”

”Well...” Laine sighed deeply and started recounting the past event: ”I would never do something as low as peeking under women’s skirts. Actually, the matter was exaggerated.”

”At the time, I was being promoted to Kingdom Knight and held a banquet at the Nord Royal Capital Frost City. At the banquet, Aurora and Teresa both came to congratulate me, and naturally, Aurora and Teresa sat down opposite me.”

”Halfway through the banquet, my spoon dropped accidentally. So I bent down under the table to retrieve it, and the silver spoon ended up at Teresa’s foot. At that time, I wasn’t familiar with Teresa, worried that my action of picking up the spoon would disturb them, and then I saw...”

”You saw those mother-daughter pair’s feet, wearing stockings, right?” The Lake Fairy understood and giggled incessantly: ”I get it.”

”Things were exactly as you imagined. I hesitated under the table for about five seconds, and Lady Aurora immediately realized I was under there. She asked what happened, so I had to tell them the spoon fell at their feet, which led to misunderstandings. Actually, they were wearing ankle-length dresses, what could I possibly see.” Laine complained a bit: ”But I know it’s something that the more you explain, the less clear it gets, so I simply didn’t. Lady Aurora and Teresa also knew at most I could see their feet and ankles, and they spoke of this matter as a joke.”

”So that’s how it was, but it also exposed your preferences.” The Lake Fairy finally understood how it unfolded, and the Goddess seemed satisfied, sparing Laine: ”I’ve learned about it, let’s change the topic.”

”As you wish.”

”You’ve been planning to attack Musillon for a long time.” The Lake Fairy asked about the matter she was most keen on: ”Where do you plan to start tackling this tumor in the Kingdom?”

”Of course, starting from Sharp-Top Palace.” Laine took out a map: ”Sharp-Top Palace is located by the banks of the Grismore River, across the river from Charon Forest. Whether I intend to reclaim Musillon, I must begin from Sharp-Top Palace. I need to establish a sturdy bridgehead, a frontline command center, and a supply point here before considering next steps.”

”That Black Knight, the Viper of Musillon won’t just stand by and let you occupy Sharp-Top Palace. He will surely lead his army to battle with you.” The Lake Fairy also contemplated the battle situation, extending a slender jade finger to point at Sharp-Top Palace: ”So you must acquire and stabilize Sharp-Top Palace quickly, before the Viper of Musillon leads reinforcements to intervene.”

”I have a plan.” Laine nodded: ”The key to this plan lies with Mogiana and the distant Lady Aurora.”

”What plan?”

”Here...”
