Chapter 1182: Chapter 512: Aurora Arrives

Entering from the hall entrance was Fiona, the legitimate granddaughter of the Duke of Borelion. This noble lady made a mistake in the Boldro incident, and was temporarily stripped of her identity as a descendant of the original Holy Grail Knight family and placed under house arrest.

How could Fiona tolerate such humiliation? Filled with hatred, the young lady took her private funds and secretly slipped out of Borelion Castle, and then she actually made her way to Musillon and found Mathew Bade.

When Mathew Bade saw that Fiona had indeed come to seek refuge with him, he arranged for Fiona’s accommodation and ample supplies, allowing her to continue living like a lady in Musillon. However, it was clear that Fiona could no longer move freely; she could only be confined in the castle all day like a bird in a cage.

”Fiona, tell me, how many times have you deliberately rushed around in the castle? I painstakingly told my subordinates that you are my girlfriend, yet you still go around hitting people? Do you really want to upset them? Have you forgotten whether you’re a noble or a peasant?” Mathew Bade’s tone held a hint of criticism.

”We clearly said it would be three years, but three years later, and again three years, Mathew Bade, we have known each other for eight years! When exactly are you planning to marry me?” Fiona was equally impatient, her words aggressive for this noble lady.

”Could you treat me a bit nicer? Right now, only I in all of Brittania know that you escaped to Musillon. If I were to send someone to send you back, you could live as a lady all your life, and I wouldn’t have to worry.” Mathew Bade said with a hint of jest.

”Mathew Bade! You fool! What do you want from me? I escaped Borelion all alone to find you in Musillon! I remind myself every day that I’m your girlfriend, even in my dreams, telling myself this is for love, and you treat me like this now?” Fiona screamed angrily, staring directly at Mathew Bade, shouting loudly.

This made Mathew Bade fall silent.

When he first met Fiona, she was just a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl.

And now, eight years had passed swiftly, Musillon more and more desolate, while Fiona recklessly gave up her identity as a direct descendant of the twelve original Holy Grail Knight families to seek refuge with him, purely for love.

After all, Mathew Bade was still a creature of flesh and blood; for this young man who had held revenge in his heart for ten years, it was false to say he wasn’t moved at all. His Godfather Akhan had also taught him many times that love was also a powerful force.

”Next year, if everything goes smoothly, we’ll get married, how about it?” After a moment of silence, Mathew Bade finally gave a response.

”Really?!”

”Really.”

A few minutes later, Fiona left happily. Upon seeing the lady leaving, a voice emerged in the hall: ”I don’t understand why you promised to marry her. In my opinion, she is useless, even turning her into a vampire wouldn’t help.”

”Shut up, Merovin.” Mathew Bade turned his gaze to a corner of the hall, where a vampire clad entirely in blood-red armor walked out.

He was none other than the former Duke of Musillon, the ”Mad Duke” Merovin. This guy had now been resurrected and became Mathew Bade’s powerful subordinate. His strength was very great, although due to his ancient age, Merovin’s soul had some damage, but he still barely maintained the Holy Sanctuary Initial Tier strength.

The deeds of the Mad Duke Merovin have been previously mentioned, no need to repeat them here.

”Forget it, that’s not the main point. Mathew Bade, my Duke, I suppose you’re already aware of our current predicament? May I ask what you intend to do?” Merovin’s eyes shone red, his appearance was quite bewitching, with slender eyes and lips, and his white hair dry and lifeless. The former Duke of Musillon laughed sarcastically at the current Duke of Musillon: ”We have already resisted two attacks on the city’s walls, and their attacks will only get stronger. The time left for us is very limited.”

Upon hearing this, Mathew Bade showed a contemplative expression. He thought for a while before saying: ”At present, after unearthing the mass grave of the Duke of Atuo’s Clan, our Musillon army is not weaker than any side in Brittania. Whether Laine attacks or Lorne attacks, I am confident of fighting and winning.”

”What if they attack from both north and south?” Merovin continued to ask.

”Laine and Lorne are not people of the same faction. Even if they attack Musillon simultaneously, it’s unlikely they’ll form an alliance army. This can be assured, especially in the swamps where knights’ combat power is limited.” Mathew Bade shook his head: ”What really worries me is that there are already signs of instability within us.”

”That’s a consequence of your decisions. If you hadn’t chosen to retreat to Musillon repeatedly in the face of invasions, those vampire lords wouldn’t have so many complaints against you.” Merovin’s deep red eyes locked onto Mathew Bade: ”You must watch their actions.”

”Their actions? Including yours?” Mathew Bade fixed his eyes on Merovin, not trusting this Mad Duke who had been dead for several hundred years.

”At least until you destroy this kingdom, I will be your loyal subordinate. We share the same goal.” Merovin’s face showed little expression: ”As for the future, let’s see what happens next?”
