Chapter 1177: Chapter 510: Musillon, the Cursed Lands

Remon’s home is located in Gene Town, in a very well-situated stone house. The entire house is built from sturdy and aesthetically pleasing stone, with Laine’s family crest hanging at the front door, symbolizing his role as a soldier for the Count. The entrance is adorned with vibrant flowers and features a large water basin.

Long Halberdier Remon achieved great merit during the Black Stone Stronghold battle, thus gaining Laine’s recognition and being promoted to sergeant, with his status in the army soaring. Later, it was confirmed that during the battle at La-Mesnil Abbey, he was the first to spot Kemler, offering Bertrand the chance to deliver a fatal strike.

Indeed, a fatal strike, as Brittania would certainly not publicize that Guer defeated Kemler.

Lake God Witch Mogiana posthumously awarded Bertrand and Remon the special honor of residing in a stone house.

The carriage slowly stopped in front of the house’s entrance. Juan was the first to step down from the carriage, followed by Laine, who then extended his hand into the carriage to help his wife Surya down. Only after Surya’s high heels touched the ground did Laine examine Remon’s house, smiling: ”This family escaped from Leonais, endured countless hardships, and finally achieved today’s success.”

”It’s all thanks to your excellent leadership, my husband.” Surya admired the clean and pristine double-decker stone house. The lady knight was in high spirits as she held her husband’s arm, her face filled with happiness.

The tall wooden door swung wide open, as Remon’s family, including his elderly mother, Remon, and Remon’s brother Thomas, came out to greet them, accompanied by Sir Bertrand and his subordinates Hugo and Guy.

”Salute to you, Lord Laine, Lady Surya! May you stay healthy, and may the Lady forever protect this blessed land.” Upon seeing Laine, everyone immediately knelt and saluted.

”Good morning, everyone.” Laine nodded calmly, gesturing for everyone to rise: ”Alright, it’s hot outside, let’s speak inside.”

”Yes!”

Before sitting down to talk, Laine and Surya toured Captain Remon’s entire house. Apparently, knowing Laine’s visit, the house had been meticulously cleaned. The family living in this double-story house seemed quite spacious. Remon’s elderly mother no longer had to do needlework for nobles and soldiers to supplement their income but focused on household chores, with a servant hired for assistance. Compared to years ago when they were fleeing, her health and complexion had greatly improved.

Remon’s brother Thomas was sent to study at the Justice Church, receiving education and learning under Alfred. The young boy, now over ten years old, had a healthy crimson complexion, wore a white linen shirt, and had tousled brown hair. Upon seeing the noble Lady Surya, he was very shy, lowered his head with a soft ”Hello, Lady” and offered small handmade crafts he made during church craft class, like little wooden warhammers, wooden cross symbols, and wooden skull symbols.

Surya was evidently quite pleased with her influence in the community, happily touching Thomas’s head.

”Thomas! You are so rude!” Surya’s gesture frightened the elderly mother, quickly grabbing Thomas and reaching out to spank his bottom.

How could a lowly peasant be entitled to have his head touched by such nobility like Lady Surya?!

”No need for that~” Surya quickly signaled to stop.

After the tour, everyone gathered in the dining room. A long wooden table was set up for them to discuss matters. Naturally, Laine and Surya were seated at the head, while Silvia and Juan stood behind, with Bertrand, Remon, Hugo, Guy, and others seated in sequence.

”It appears that you are living well, Mr. Remon?” Laine said to Remon after sitting down. ”Are you planning to marry soon? This house is a bit quiet!”

”Hahahahahahahahahahahaha~” Laughter erupted from the long table, and the young sergeant was somewhat embarrassed, lowering his head: ”I haven’t planned yet, my Count, I’m still young.”

”What are you laughing at, Bertrand? I remember you are not married either.” Laine then turned the spotlight to Bertrand, now forty years old, who was embarrassed as the table once again burst into laughter.

Through cordial greetings and humor, Laine successfully strengthened his relationship with his subordinates. As light conversations ensued, the topic gradually shifted to more important matters.

”Bertrand, Remon, on this mission to the Duchy of Connaught, surrounding Musillon, did you uncover anything significant or noteworthy?” Laine began his inquiry: ”I need firsthand information; please tell me everything you know in detail; otherwise, I wouldn’t have come to visit your home.”

”My Count, on this survey mission to Musillon and Leonais, we discovered many things.” Bertrand nodded respectfully and began: ”Firstly, we found Musillon’s quarantine zone reinforced under Duke Lorne’s command.”

Laine nodded silently, knowing it indicated preparation for military action.

Musillon’s quarantine zone consists of over twenty towers and walls, with a garrison of fewer than a thousand troops forming a barrier to isolate Musillon’s external links. These troops and towers obviously can’t withstand a Vampire army, but the Knight Kingdom never intended to. The original intent of Knight King Taylor in establishing the quarantine zone was solely to isolate Vampire Corruption and prevent disease spread since no one desires the outbreak of a new epidemic.
