COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

”Hikigaya Hachiman, just watch.”

”I won this exam.....”

“Now 2nd to last place is announced.” Teacher Hoshinomiya said with an expression that people find it very scary.

“3rd-grade Class A, Tachibana Akane, 2nd-grade Class B, Ogura, and 1st-grade Class D, Yamashita”

“10,000 points will be deducted from individual points, and class evaluation score gone by the number of students in group x 3.”

Chie’s smiling face is a bit terrifying.

“Then there’s last one, Asahina Nazuna, 2nd-year A class, and Ikeda, 3rd-year B class. 1st-year D class head by Manabe Shiho.”

“For the last person, in addition to deducting 20,000 points from their personal score, class evaluation will be deducted by 5 times the number of students in their group.”

“The class of 3 responsible persons will be deducted an additional 300 points, and leaders get expelled!”

?????

????

????? ?????

However, Nagumo was already full of questions when he heard the result of the second-to-last place, “Hikigaya, what the fuck did you do?!”

’Because, second to last place is Group of Tachibana. Aren’t there 19 people who are dragging her down? So, how is it possible, how is it possible that she is not the last one?!And how could a group that my childhood friend Asahina is in be ranked last?!’

“Let me repeat, Last one is the 2nd-year leader Asahina Nazun----”

“Fuck you sen----”

“Nagumo Miyabi, you are being too loud. Keep it down and learn to respect you-----”

“???” Nagumo who just got reprimanded, and told to learn manner like an illiterate 2 year old boy.

“Let me repeat once more, Last one is the 2nd-year leader Asahina Nazun----”

Hachiman almost burst out laughing when it was heard loudly again, ’She is doing it on purpose....’

“Manabe Shiho, Asahina Nazuna, Ikeda, As for 3 of you, the journey has ended and you are going to leave our world forever!”

Chie announced the punishment for last group without mercy, but result made the students explode.

“……???”

Never expected this result, Miyabi who acted like a bastard child all along this exam, “Hikigaya, just tell me.....”

Grit his teeth.

’I can’t understand why this happened? In group Akane Tachibana was in, there were 9 students from Class B in 3rd grade, and were 10 students from my 2nd grade.Considering that last person in charge of resurrection needs to spend 20 million personal points, class of the second-year person in charge will also be deducted 300 points...Because it was a battle between entire second grade, I could allocate both bonus and deduction points, which was no problem. However, if there were 15 second graders, I would need to deduct a few more points, so I chose the economy and only allowed 10 2nd graders to participate in group that Akane Tachibana was. In this way, I had 9+10=19 people to hold her back, and in this case, why is she not the last one?Did someone let her go? Did someone not obey my orders?Did second-year students betray? No, those random players have no experience, all depended on me to survive, so did 3rd-year class B backstab me?No no no!The 3rd-year Class B received a lot of my support last semester, which helped them suppress Class A led by Horikita Manabu, and I also manipulated them in sports festival, which allowed to gain extra points. So they shouldn’t give up the hope of being promoted to Class A!’

After analyzing it over and over again, only thing that came to Nagumo’s mind was?

Hikigaya.....

Nagumo was really confused. He felt like everyone would betray him, but no one had any reason to.

So, he expressed his doubts to Hachiman who was listening results of the exam.

“....what have you done?”

“I love cheap thrills.....”

???

“Hikigaya, don’t mess with me. I don’t have ti-----”

“Your plan is nothing more than to compromise the group Secretary Tachibana Akane is in, and let your second and third-year Class B, a total of 19 people, participate in the dragging work......”

“What do you mean nothing? It was a lot of money and effort spent. Their individual scores should be so bad even their mothers wouldn’t recognize face. So, in a group of 36 people, there are 19 people dragging her feet. I can’t imagine why she is not the last!”

“It’s very simple. Determine for yourself the composition of last place team,” Hachiman had nothing more to say about this.

“Group members?” Nagumo frowned, he took out the small notebook carried with him.

“You write and I’ll explain.”

“......are you taking pity on me?”

“Maybe. There is 1 person in 3rd grade class B, 5 bots from 3rd grade class C, and 9 NPC’s of 3rd grade D. In the second grade, there are 3 people in Class A, 3 background characters of B, 3 who never showed face in Class C, and 3 defects from Class D. Then work count of the 1st grade is 6 dark angels in Class A, 5 NPC’s of Class B, and 4 lambs from Ryuen’s D.”

“....What’s point of this?”

Nagumo listed names of the last group according to what Hachiman said, which was headed by his childhood friend Asahina Nazuna.

“In connection from what just said, Senior Tachibana Akane’s group consisted of 36 people, and you arranged for 19 to hold back, and for this group, I arranged for 29 people to abstain directly.”

”What?!” Nagumo almost threw pen in his hand away, and he immediately began to count names of the last students in group.

The total number of people is 15 3rd-year students, 12 second-year, and 15 first-year, a total of 42 people.

The second-year students here are obedient, and 3rd-year class B is a partner, so total number here is 13.

And what Hikigaya Hachiman said that he arranged for 29 people to abstain directly, could it be that -

“Could it be that--”

“You bribed all members of Tachibana Akane’s group who got selfish to get your money or are afraid of you...And I bribed all the members who gave up on life. Except for your 13 people, everyone else in the group doesn’t want to survive here, so rewarded last one....”

’Good lord....are there people like those around? You don’t even want to graduate...just go back home.’ Nagumo almost vomited blood.

’Unbelievable, I am going to purge those characters!Bring down the hammer of Student Council President’s court!’ Nagumo analyzed Horikita Manabu’s thinking pattern and realized that he, who had always been dragged down by students in his class, would most likely adopt a safe plan.

So, when explaining the exam rules, he took into account what Manabu would do.

So real grouping began, and Horikita Manabu really followed the most reliable 14+6 plan to group the players.

Whether boys or girls.

In this case, his prediction was correct.

It was meaningless to just target Horikita Manabu, as this man was too strong, so Nagumo initially targeted girls in Class A of the third grade.

In other words, target he wanted to attack was Akane Tachibana, Manabu’s right-hand girl.

It is impossible for Manabu to let Akane Tachibana drop out of school, so he will definitely use the private points of the class to save her, which will greatly reduce the financial strength of Class A.

There are still several exams to come, and Class A of third grade will also be deducted points for ranking last in this exam, so position of Class A of Manabu is unstable.

And since Manabu never gives up on any of his companions, he definitely can’t stand watching everyone fail to graduate from Class A.

So he wanted to grasp this point.

That was original plan.

In order to prevent Horikita Manabu from realizing that he wanted to attack the girls, he deliberately declared war.

Saying that boys were going to fight.

Then he deliberately visited 1st-year students’ dormitory every night, pretending that he wanted to cause trouble and divert Manabu’s attention.

Result was very smooth.

Last night, the 2nd-year students in Tachibana Akane’s group reported to him that she did not go to Horikita Manabu to make any reports, which means that girl is still too young.

Although she is person in charge, but in this exam even she can drag others down with her, so it is very natural to think that students from other classes would not dare to move, right?

But she never thought that if she ranked last, she would be expelled and lose 300 points.

How could 3rd-grade Class B refuse such a temptation?

So it can be said that Tachibana is really too young.

Only....

Such a smooth plan was carried out, but Hikigaya Hachiman said that he had arranged for another large group to give up.

Arrange to be the last one.

Hikigaya, you creep scum of a mothe-----

“How could you possibly do such a thing!?” Nagumo had control over all the second-year students and had tied 3rd-year Class B to his ship, but now he was saying Hachiman bribed more people even than him.

It is impossible for third-year class B and 2nd-year students in last-place group to listen to Hachiman, but 29 people are deducted here.

Means that he not only bribed the 1st-year students, but also 3rd year Class C and D!

“Aren’t you a loner first-year? And how could these seniors--and aren’t you first-years fighting in class? How could they all listen to you?!”

Nagumo felt he was going nuts.

“It is indeed impossible for them to listen to me. For example, students in Class C of first grade are dissatisfied with me, but didn’t you notice there is not a single student in Class C of the first grade in this group?”

“…”

There are indeed no people from Sakayanagi’s class in this group.

“It’s just that here in Class A of 1st grade...ah, your relationship with Ichinose--” Nagumo reacted immediately and then shut up.

Because he actually started trying to canvass for votes when Arisu Sakayanagi proposed to be the president.

The choice was to divide 1st years and make life difficult for Sakayanagi.

So he tried to give Ichinose test paper that Sakayanagi had given after regular questions were leaked.

Although failed.

But when the 1st graders went to the island for exam, he thought Ichinose’s class would definitely fail.

Then he will appear here as a good senior who was eager to help.

Gather Ichinose to steal her votes.

But Ichinose’s class was fine in Deserted island exam, so he couldn’t do it directly.

’And now Hikigaya can actually get Ichinose to cooperate, which means... relationship between these two is actually... very good?’ Nagumo felt like he just entered into a Twilight zone.

What a brave new world!
