COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Hachiman walked towards the place where sound came from.

He saw a girl curled up crying, actually knew this person.

“If you found any troubles, you should tell Horikita-nii.....Student council president, right?”

Hachiman decided t-----

“Owahhh....hmm.”

.....Curled up girl raised her face so that people could see her appearance clearly.

Akane Tachibana from Class 3A.

The classmate who usually accompanies Horikita Manabu is also his secretary.

She seemed to be panicked by being seen as useless, so wiped away her tears immediately.

”What do you mean?” She seemed to want to hide what had just happened.

“Like I said just now, if you have any troubles, go and talk to Student council president. You are his classmate, and secretary, he will not ignore you,” As he said this, Hachiman reached into his pocket and pressed it.

”I’m not bothered at all.”

“If you are crying even though you have no problem, then I feel very worri----”

”I’m not crying!” Tachibana denied and looked away.

She didn’t move her body because she knew that if she moved a little away from the darkest place where she was, her red eyes from crying would be very obvious and expose her lie.

“There are times when I want to be alone.”

She tried a plain lie.

“Indeed....we really don’t have much private space.”

Stomp! Stomp!

Then head towards....

“What are you doing?!” But this action seemed to make her very excited, “Don’t come over here!”

Or was she just worried that he would see her crying?

In fact, he had already seen it, and Hachiman watched her cry for several minutes before talking to her.

“I’ve always been on President Horikita’s side, and been dating his sister for a while now.”

This is indeed true.

Because Tachibana Akane saw Hikigaya and Suzune together more than once.

Before coming to take this exam, you can see Hikigaya bringing a very expensive ice cream to Suzune in the cafeteria.

Originally, Hachiman thought that although he would help President Horikita, but was short of money, so he had to fraud his classmates.

But this kind of thing is not something that can be talked about casually, so he has been waiting for the opportunity.

It has now appeared on its own.

“Tachibana Akane-senpai, are you worried about this exam?”

”Nothing. Although I’m not the person in charge, my relationship with group is definitely not bad. In fact, we get along very well,” Tachibana said quickly, as if she was even trying to convince her own person.

Hachiman began to translate. ’...So, she was forced to be leader of the group, but had a bad relationship with the members and was bullied.’

“Then why are you crying in a place like this?”

“Just said, I’m not crying anymore!”

“But you can’t even make proper grammar....”

So Hachiman pointed his finger at the area around her eye sockets, and Tachibana quickly used her fingertips to check if there was any moisture.

Yet it was dry there.

She immediately realized that Hachiman was trying to trick her, so she glared at him angrily.

“You!....What I’m worried about... what I’m worried about is President Horikita-kun,” Secretary Tachibana said after a while of being angry, “Although we are students in the same class, both I and my classmates rely too much on him.”

“.....After a semester, you probably understand that our class evaluation score has been continuously caught up by Class B, and now are only 400 points behind.”

Yes, Hachiman confirmed their scores when he entered school.

At that time, Class A had more than 2,500 points, but now it barely maintains 2,254 points, and Class B has also climbed from 1,400 points to 1,830, and the gap is constantly narrowing.

A gap of 400 points can very likely be overcome in one or two exams.

Once surpassed, three years of hard work will be in vain.

Students in Class A felt panic.

“President Horikita-kun..... has always fought alone. If he is defeated, we will not be able to g-graduate from Class A......”

Sniff! Sniff!

This is very likely.

Hachiman discovered in Sports festival that ability of host Fujimaki, who was pushed by Manabu to be the team leader, seemed average, which means that his Class A might not be that good, but reason they have been able to maintain their advantage from the freshman year to now is probably because he is leading the others.

’In other words, Horikita Manabu is actually experiencing the pit of one god leading the crowd.....One to 39.This would also explain why his class evaluation scores were declining.Because there are too many weak people around him, he keeps compromising. He has the opportunity to get high scores, but consider that weak need to be protected, so he can only make decisions to protect himself. But, can such words be believed? The strength of school’s four classes, ABCD, is of a phased nature. Then Class A is actually better than Class B, so are there many weak students in A?Or maybe, Grade 3 Class B is actually very strong.Or maybe this is normal class competition, only students in my class are very different.’

“Because students in our Class A are always dragging us down... we have lost a lot of class points that don’t need to be lost, and even personal points - he has always sacrificed himself to protect his friends....”

’If this is true, pressure that Horikita-nii is under is actually greater than imagined.....’ At least, Hachiman was unwilling to fly with the class.

He had already prepared to be bought out by other classes, because he knew how unbearable it was to drag along a bunch of unbearable people.

“You probably don’t understand how hard it is to fight against everyone around you alone....”

Finally, Akane Tachibana said in summary.

“No, I don’t....Only Eren Yeager knows that feeling....”

She trusts Horikita Manabu very much, so is crying here now because she is worried that he is under a lot of pressure, and she doesn’t want to cause trouble for him even if she is bullied.

There was one thing Hachiman felt Tachibana Akane said wrongly.

[You probably don’t understand how hard it is to fight against everyone around you alone.]

In fact, he was really brave this time.

Because Hachiman wanted to take away points of students in Class 3-A.

Certainly.

There are not many points left in Class A of Grade 3, and most of them will be used for class exam.

Usually see students in Grade 3 Class A ordering basic set meals.

Don’t forget, they also have class evaluation scores.

So Hikigaya’s goal....

’It is November now and everyone has received the money. But there are still December, January, February and March.A total of 4 months, and the class evaluation score of Grade 3 Class A is 2254 points. If test score does not decrease, then his class will produce 8 million points, which is more than 32 in total. So that’s my goal. From this perspective, I am the enemy of your Class 3-A, Tachibana Akane.’

’Because who would want to strip the entire graduating class A naked and force them to eat a disgusting vegetable meal?’

“Anyway, you are worried about the situation of Class 3-A, so you are so depressed, right?” Hachiman gave Tachibana some face and did not mention her crying.

“Yeah, ” Tachibana took the stairs he offered and went downstairs directly, “Even I heard about the boys’ situation. How Horikita-kun was challenged by Nagumo, how he was unable to move because of it, and how I am completely unable to help.”

“In the end, score needs to be calculated based on the large group, so efforts of most students will be useful. If you don’t work hard, you won’t be able to motivate others,” Hachiman pointed it out to her.

“I know about that.....” Secretary Tachibana Akane wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, “Anyway, please don’t take my incident to heart, and don’t say anything weird to President Horikita-kun.”

Having said this, now without waiting for Hachiman’s response, she started to walk towards toilet, probably intending to rest there to let her eyes get less swollen from crying before returning to the dormitory.

But this is a wrong choice.

’The real reason why she was crying was partly because of the difficult situation that Horikita’s brother was in, but more probably it was because she was bullied....’

Hachiman obtained the list of members of their own groups from Karuizawa, Horikita, Kushida and Kamuro-san.

None of them were in the same group with Secretary Tachibana Akane, but the situation on her side was actually easy to judge.

’The guidance that Horikita Manabu gave them was also in the 14+6-person mode, so if she was not in the 14-person mode, then it was in the 6-person mode, which means she was in a group with five other girls in the same class. She could be bullied even with the help of five classmates, so composition of her group is easy to guess. It must be there are many girls from Class B of 3rd.

’Bullied by the rival class B.She doesn’t want to tell Horikita Manabu about this because she don’t want to be a burden to him, but there must be something fishy about this collective behavior of Class B.It is useless for Tachibana-senpai to choose to suffer injustice and sacrifice herself in order to solve the problem. In other words, if I don’t take action, then Class A of Grade 3 will be in a dead end.’

“Senior Tachibana Akane, are you really not going to discuss this with me again?” Hachiman decided to give her another chance.

Keep hands in pockets.

“No need.” Her voice came from afar, and then surroundings fell into silence.

’Since others don’t want my help, there is no reason to give it away for free.....’

So Hachiman left with a green recorder.

’I guess....I am selfish too...but I am not a bad person, right?’
