COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

The 40-minute lecture by teacher ended quickly, and as the brakes vibrated, students lined up to get off.

Under the bus, children had gathered together, but teacher asked them to pick up their own backpacks and luggage.

Male and female should have been separated from moment they got off.

Only chance to meet is during lunch which only lasts for an hour.

Students need to prepare their own breakfast and dinner at residence, and school will provide the ingredients.

“Once you have confirmed that all your personal belongings have been removed from the bus, please turn off your cell phone and hand it in.”

Chabashira-sensei was standing at front of the car, with a bag at her feet and a stack of notes in her hands.

“Now hand over the phone according to the name being read. First one, Hikigaya Hachiman.”

On the labels are names of the students.

This was probably prepared long ago, putting a label on the phone to make it easier to return it after exam.

This is something that all students need to submit, and Hachiman has no objection to this.

”Next, Hirata Yosuke.”

After attaching a label with his name on it to his phone, teacher put aside in bag and started reading out the names of other students.

[Students, both male and female, please go to the designated location within fifteen minutes. I will notify you again...]

The School broadcast another request, asking all boys to go to gymnasium, and the girls to gather at the fountain in backyard.

Because time was tight, even if Hirata-kun wanted to give the girls some advice, he didn’t have chance.

Cme to the gym passively like this.

Unlike Advanced Nurturing High School, Jura forest civilization here seemed to be short of funds, and all the equipment and even buildings looked a bit old.

Even the gymnasium gives people a feeling of vicissitudes.

“It looks like seniors have arrived....”

Just as they were about to enter the gymnasium, Hachiman suddenly said.

”Why do you say that?” Sudo was standing next to him.

”Because of the atmosphere.” Hachiman said, ”See that direction, Katsuragi’s bald head is easy to identify. The boys in Class C are over there. Although often claim they are of high quality, but all silent now. It is very likely they are all seniors....”

”So you think upperclassmen are a bit of a bully?” Sudo asked, and at this time he had already stepped one foot into the gymnasium, and then he couldn’t help but exclaimed.

Because he was surprised.

The announcement on radio only required students to gather in the gymnasium by class, but their class B was in a mess.

Although they were still heading here under the leadership of Hirata, they were mostly gathered in groups and looked idle.

There is a huge contrast with the senior students.

Because they were clearly in a new place, but seniors actually lined up completely consciously and looked neat and tidy.

You have to know that there was not a single teacher there!

This quality is astonishing.

The school asked them to arrive at the gymnasium in the hope that they could form teams within an hour.

First, students of the same grade are asked to discuss and form teams, and are teamed up with students from higher grades.

Same goes for the basic rules.

Although the first-years were stunned for a moment after seeing quality of the seniors, but quickly understood what they had to do.

Just like failing to elect a person in charge, if you don’t form a team within the specified time, you will be forced to drop out of school.

And the best first-year class A.

It should be said that former Class A is now Class C.

Since the boys and girls were separated, it was naturally Katsuragi who gave the instructions for Class C.

They formed a team of 14 people and then recruited from 3 classes of BCD, expressing their willingness to recruit any students from other classes.

This action makes people a little dazed.

Because 1st year students form their own teams with 10-15 people, and Katsuragi’s arrangement means that other classes can only have one more person.

But in this case, doubled reward will be very small, because the more people of the same grade participate, the more points will be.

In Katsuragi’s case, the maximum doubled reward is 2 times.

That means score won’t change much.

”Not only that,” Katsuragi began to express his opinion, “the remaining six students in my class will follow your instructions. You can assign them to any team you want. But they must be bound to six people.”

“…”

This move of Katsuragi is somewhat heart-warming because undoubtedly for the sake of stability.

He deliberately divided the 20 boys of Class A into two groups, 14 and 6.

He was in the group of 14, which was full of excellent students, so it didn’t matter if other classes brought in a piece of trash.

The remaining 6 people are bound together, but after all, they are students in Class A and are excellent in all aspects, so throwing them into any group can also improve their scores.

It is very beneficial for the B and D classes with poor students.

”So that’s what you were planning.”

The D class team also came over, led by the bespectacled Kaneda, and Albert followed behind him.

The person who spoke was Kaneda from Class D, and Ryuen was walking at the end, looking like he was randomly assigned there.

The tyrant had lost his ambition.

”Hikigaya, what does this mean?” Although Sudo was standing in front, he was confused by the clever look of Kaneda pushing up his glasses.

”This is Class C’s life-saving choice.” Hachiman was doing his commentary outside, “The more classes of the same grade participate, the more scores will be doubled. Class C has divided into two parts, so that doubling of the bonus points is suppressed to the minimum. In other words, if large group of other classes wins, then class evaluation points they get will not be that much, so Class C can continue to maintain the current gap.”

“Girls’ side is probably arranged the sam---do you even understand, Sudo?” Hachiman was just about to explain when he saw Sudo’s face of dumb ostrich.

“hehe...”

Although his purpose was exposed, Katsuragi didn’t care at all, “So, you can choose for yourselves. At least my conditions are quite reasonable for you to understand.”

’But Katsuragi-kun, your plan is wrong! Because your class is very good, but it is just one, and still somewhat difficult to shake up a large group!’ Hachiman thought to himself.

’At the same time, it seems Sakayanagi didn’t tell Katsuragi this exam was not a trial for first-year students but for 3rd....As expected, she had no interest in this exam....’

“Okay, our D class agrees,” Kaneda said, pushing up his glasses, even people don’t know why he always do this, “It will merge your C class.”

”Really? So Ryuen means the same thing?” Because he was backstabbed by Ryuen once on the island, Katsuragi immediately looked at his nightmare who was standing at end of the boys in Class D.

”Don’t ask me about such nonsense. I am no longer involved in the leadership,” Ryuen was still very rude, even though he lost everything, “But if you want to spend time with me, then go ahead, bring me into your 14-person team. And I can be the leader of your group.”

”...” Katsuragi did not answer him immediately, but he confirmed there was something wrong with this Ryuen Kakeru. ’What on earth happened to make this arrogant guy become like this?’

’Previously at the sports, Ryuen led his class to go against mine and wanted to leave gymnasium.Quite uncooperative. And now. Not only did he directly respond to my words, but Ryuen was even willing to be the person in charge who took risks?’ Katsuragi couldn’t help but frown.

“That’s what I meant just now,” Kaneda pushed up his glasses like a robot with accuracy of a sculpture, “You, Class C, don’t want to let other classes gain a lot of points in this exam and widen the gap, right?”

Let Kaneda speak for a while.

“In fact, you are also unsure Katsuragi, After all, the class schedule in forest includes meditation, cleaning, and research. It doesn’t look like a normal day. So the students in your class may not be able to play to their strengths.”

“So it’s impossible to determine the final assessment criteria. And it becomes necessary to prepare in advance for the people who will be sacrificed and bear the greatest responsibility.”

”First of all, because we have to form teams, we will also have a last-place finisher in our first grade.”

”And the last-placed student will not only lose points, but may even be expelled from school.”

“Are you willing to take this risk? Fuck no, right? So this time, our Class D will take it over,” Kaneda snarled his nose upwards to stare at Katsuragi’s bald head once more.

He quite liked the view to be honest.

“4 million for one class. Everyone spends 100,000 points, and they can get safety.”

“Students in my class will take over the work of being the leaders of 6 male and female groups. We will take responsibility for the last one, and we will also be the ones to choose if they drop out.”

Blow! Blow! Blow!

1st Graders fell silent.

“• •”

“???”

“• ? •”

“! • !”

“...Codswallop” Only then did Kaneda

realize there was actually a day when he was focus of so many people’s attention.

In fact, he admitted that Hiyori’s plan was reasonable.

Almost all classes don’t want the last person to appear in their home, and if student happens to be person in charge and be expelled.

At the same time, 300 points will be deducted.

This punishment is too harsh and is something that even ABC does not want to see.

Therefore, it is very likely that students will agree.

But for Class D, price they had to pay was... the actual loss of a classmate.

As for class evaluation score...it was already 0 points.

Never mind.

“We have proposed a plan,” Kaneda felt like he didn’t want to lose such gazes, “So we will also bear the risk, and deductions can be arranged for people in our class.”

The first three will be rewarded, while last 3 gets punished.

So don’t just focus on the last group, but also have to take into account points deductions for second to last and third to last groups.

Scores of the three classes, ABC, are very close now, so no need to widen the gap in this kind of exam.

Katsuragi also began to think.

’If each person only pays 100,000 points, then we can avoid the situation where Class C has a student who is ranked last or even has a large deduction of points or is expelled....’ He could accept this result.

’At the same time, if people in charge are all from Class D, then Class A and B will not be able to get many points. Therefore, it also limits the ability of Class A and B to further increase their scores.’ To be honest, Katsuragi had experienced several times of saving points and then having them all deducted.

He felt extremely disgusted by this. So

Katsuragi didn’t want to try to get points aggressively, and it would be better to stabilize the current points.

“Our students in Class C—” Katsuragi looked at the boy behind him.

“...you have my people’s support,” Takuro Morishige only thinks about how to save his kind, and Kaneda’s plan was feasible to his ears.

”I support too!” his eldest child Yahiko said immediately.
