Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1200 - 631: Deep Into the Behemoth Herd, An Unexpected Crisis!

The large body of the pterosaur hovered over the group of stone statues.

Xu Xin took this opportunity to observe the group of Stone Giant Beasts below.

Hmm... This must be the underground world’s giant beasts.

These beasts all look bizarre and don’t seem like normal creatures at all.

Furthermore, upon closer inspection, not all of them are giant beasts; there are some smaller ones as well.

There are even crawling, grotesque stone giant insects.

Clearly, they’re the mutated monsters from the underground world.

Although the group varies in size, with the larger Stone Giant Beasts seemingly able to crush the smaller ones, such incidents have not occurred even once. All the stone creatures seem to be marching in a formation that’s most suitable for them, progressing in an orderly fashion.

The Stone Giant Beasts did not react aggressively to the giant pterosaur hovering above them.

They merely looked up in unison when Huihui flew over, then lowered their heads again, moving slowly in the direction of the World Tree.

”Bang... Bang... Crack...”

The Stone Giant Beasts are immensely heavy; each step they take causes the surrounding jungle to tremble and even crash through the nearby trees.

However, the Stone Giant Beasts do not seem to have any intention to attack or negotiate as Xu Xin imagined.

Their only purpose seems to be heading towards the World Tree.

Xu Xin activated his mind-reading mode, but strangely, his ability could not penetrate these petrified giant beasts.

...Why?

First, he ruled out the possibility that these petrified beasts have traveled through time.

That’s basically impossible.

Only two possibilities remain: either petrified creatures are beyond the scope of his mind-reading, or...

The petrified creatures here have no heart, no brain!

They are likely a bunch... completely controlled puppets!

Xu Xin was immediately alert.

”Fly a bit higher, Huihui!”

Huihui’s flight altitude had been decreasing, so Xu Xin instructed.

Huihui was now flying at a height of less than forty meters.

Forty meters sounds substantial, but considering the height of these giant beasts, which is close to or exceeds twenty meters,

it’s possible that some of them could jump high enough to reach!

Although the Stone Giant Beasts don’t seem intent on attacking, caution is still necessary!

Who knows if one might suddenly decide to leap up and take a swipe?

Hearing this, Huihui immediately chirped and then flapped its wings, increasing its altitude to around a hundred meters, hovering above the giant beast group.

”Whimper...?”

Keke’s little paws clutched Xu Xin’s clothes, her little head stretched out, observing the Stone Giant Beasts below.

”Keke, do you think the Stone Giant Beasts below are dangerous?” Xu Xin asked, pinching Keke’s ear as he looked at the beasts below.

”Whimper.” Keke shook her little head and pointed down with her paw, ”Whimper!”

”You want to go down?” Xu Xin immediately refused, ”No way, it’s too dangerous.”

”Whimper! Whimper whimper!” Keke waved her little paws.

”These beasts won’t attack us?” Xu Xin looked again at the group below.

”Whimper!” Keke nodded vigorously.

”Really...”

Xu Xin continued observing below; none of the Stone Giant Beasts looked up at the obviously visible Huihui flying around.

It seems... they really won’t attack them.

Xu Xin remembered that Ji Chaoyang’s prophecy mentioned seeing the presence of Chang印.

If his guess is correct, it’s likely Chang印 controlling these beasts now.

However...

He searched everywhere just now but didn’t see it...

It might be because the sheer number and size variation of these stone beasts make trying to find a human-sized presence too difficult, so he didn’t find it.

Damn it, he should have gone to the treehouse for three hours of sleep before coming out to get a random amplification!

If he had a vision enhancement, he might have seen it.

”Whimper!” Keke still clutched Xu Xin’s sleeves, indicating she wanted him to go down.

”Going down is impossible, but we can go lower. Huihui, lower the altitude a bit; if they don’t intend to attack, try flying close to them.”

”Chirp——”

Huihui chirped and swiftly dove down!

”Slow down...”

Xu Xin was overwhelmed by the fierce wind and strong weightlessness, unable to speak.

Keke nestled in his arms, gripping tightly with her paws.

Huihui dove rapidly, then skimmed close to the giant beast group for a distance, and climbed ten meters again, hovering at this altitude.

Huihui’s actions could be considered provocative, but still, none of the Stone Giant Beasts even lifted a head, steadily and firmly, heading towards the direction of the World Tree.

Now closer to the ground, Xu Xin could better feel the tremors caused by the Stone Giant Beasts moving.

”Bang... Bang... Crack crack...”

Rows of trees fell, even if the front row of beasts didn’t push all the trees down, the following petrified beasts picked up the slack, crushing and pushing down trees.
