Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1158 - 617: Are You That Mysterious Voice?!

Xu Xin decided to keep the man.

Although the man seemed extremely foolish, he was a possessor of a World Tree.

Moreover, Xu learned from his words that the man’s father belonged to the management level among the survivors, though he held no sway among the alien invaders, he had a transcendental status among humans.

Keeping him might come in handy in the future.

However, he mustn’t make him too comfortable.

Xu Xin immediately released the treasure chest monster that had been kept inside his wristband for a long time, allowing it to swallow the man whole.

The man’s look of fear and despair in the final second before being engulfed by the treasure chest monster’s belly made Xu Xin nod in satisfaction.

”Don’t let him die, keep him alive,” Xu Xin instructed the treasure chest monster.

The lid of the treasure chest monster opened and closed twice with a ”click-click” sound.

Xu Xin put the treasure chest monster away again.

”I never expected you to have something like this, brother,” Xu Ying said in amazement, ”A treasure chest monster? That’s really... isn’t this another product of the genetic experiments done by those alien invaders using some creatures?”

”...Can genetic experiments produce something like this?”

”Probably. Who knows? Anyway, those alien invaders look far more bizarre than this treasure chest monster. I wouldn’t find it strange if they could create something like this.”

Xu Xin and Xu Ying first returned to the location of the explorers within the World Tree to explain the situation.

Later, amidst Li Wenxi’s somewhat worried instructions, the two left.

...

Looking at the towering giant tree before them and the endless sea behind, Xu Xin and Xu Ying were both astonished.

Xu Xin glanced at Xu Ying, spreading his hands and said, ”Seems like they have a grasp on the underground world beneath the ocean.”

The roots of the World Tree would burrow through the island’s underground, affecting the underground world.

”...Not necessarily, even though there’s island ground, it might not be the location of the pillar,” Xu Ying retorted.

”If not, why did they plant the World Tree here?” Xu Xin shrugged.

”Hmm... that’s possible.” Xu Ying thought for a moment and then reassured, ”But it’s okay, our underground human base is perfectly located, there’s no island above and it’s not near the supporting pillars.”

”That’s good.”

Xu Xin turned to look at the World Tree.

”I wonder if those three got any information.” Xu Ying was pondering on how to enter the World Tree, ”Did they arrive already or are they yet to arrive?”

At the same time, Xu Xin had a thought, and the nearby map appeared in his mind.

There was no sign of life on the land, no red or green dots. This was obvious, as the island was barren, with nothing but the World Tree.

But the ocean was not so safe.

Xu Xin discovered that around two hundred meters off the island’s coast, a dense cluster of scarlet dots were swimming around within the area.

Each of these dots had brightness exceeding mid-level mutant creatures!

They gathered at this distance, though swimming, none dared to cross the line.

Although Xu Xin hadn’t fully opened the map of the entire island, he suspected the entire island was surrounded by these creatures.

”The sea is unsafe,” Xu Xin looked at the horizon.

With the naked eye, he couldn’t see anything.

”Yes, indeed unsafe, there are many monsters in the sea,” Xu Ying also glanced back, ”But the seaside here is fine, as the World Tree guards it, those sea monsters don’t dare approach.”

Xu Ying briefly explained.

If the World Tree wasn’t planted here, those sea monsters might not be interested in this island, but they might occasionally land on it, for example for turtles to breed and lay eggs.

And with the World Tree here, those sea monsters dared not come near, yet were firmly attracted to it.

Like a group of flying insects around a bulb, unable to truly touch the light source.

The World Tree was the filament in the bulb, and the sea monsters were those insects.

This was why the area was surrounded by a large ring of scarlet dots.

”Don’t worry, those sea monsters can’t come in,” Xu Ying stopped focusing on the horizon and looked at the World Tree, ”Shall we... go over?”

”Is there a way inside?” Xu Xin asked.

”That person gave me the coordinates of the World Tree, actually... I can teleport directly inside,” Xu Ying explained, ”But according to him, his boss is in there...”

”The ’boss’ he mentioned, should just be human, right?” Xu Xin asked, ”It should be the survivors of the invasion.”

”Yes, it’s not dangerous for me, I’m just worried my presence will be discovered, then the information will spread to the other hemisphere...” Xu Ying hesitated for a moment and then shook her head, ”Forget it, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, let’s go in and have a look.”

Saying this, she grabbed Xu Xin’s arm.

...

Lou Fei’Er and the two others were already inside the World Tree.

”Here...” Lou Fei’Er was somewhat surprised.

So, this was the normal interior of a World Tree...

A normal World Tree is actually a big tree house.

The interior of the tree house is over a hundred meters tall, covering a range of about a kilometer, with a very large internal space.
