Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1192 - 628: Dawn Breaks (2)

Their reactions back then were honestly really fun to watch.

Xu Xin wasn’t laughing at them; he was reminded of the first time he himself saw a truly star‑studded sky.

Growing up in a city, he’d basically never seen a decent night sky since he was little.

People who know what the night sky in a city looks like, know; air quality is a huge problem, and even if the air were perfect, the blazing lights would still drown out the stars.

The first time he saw a breathtakingly brilliant Milky Way was on a trip to a high‑plateau region.

Sigh...

This stretch of peaceful days had started to make him miss his former life again.

”What’s going on?”

The villa window behind him opened. Xu Ying stuck her head out and looked at the crowd moving away. ”What are they going to do?”

”Going out to watch the sunrise,” Xu Xin looked back and said. ”Wanna go?”

”Watch the sunrise? What’s so great about a sunrise... Ah, right, they’re all people from the underground world.” Xu Ying immediately shook her head. ”I’m not going. What’s so great about a sunrise.”

”You should go out for a look too, you haven’t gone out in like ten days, right? Go take a walk and...”

”Aaah, can’t hear you, can’t hear you!”

Xu Ying yanked her head back in and shut the window with a bang.

”This girl...”

There was still laughter coming from inside the villa.

”Yaa—”

Just then, a cry came from a distance, and a huge figure burst out from the woods.

It was Winged Dragon Huihui.

After these two months of growth, its size had reached a level Xu Xin could barely wrap his head around.

Huihui’s body now was actually about the same size as the winged dragon statue Xu Xin had seen before!

Its wingspan was already over ten meters!

Who would’ve thought it was still just a two‑month‑old hatchling.

Huihui’s eyesight was excellent; it spotted Xu Xin from far away, called out to him, wheeled a few times over the dense forest canopy, then dropped back into the jungle.

It still wasn’t fond of people, so it basically never approached this relatively crowded residential area.

But that wasn’t a bad thing either. It was too big now; coming over here would just be inconvenient.

After enjoying a bit of quiet outside, Xu Xin went back into the villa.

The villa was still full of laughter and chatter.

”Xu Xin, food’s almost ready, come sit!” Lou Fei’Er walked over with a dish in her hands, grinning. ”I invented several new dishes this time!”

”New dishes... You’re using us as lab rats again.”

The corner of Xu Xin’s mouth twitched.

Lou Fei’Er’s cooking really was good, but some of her ”new dishes” were honestly beyond saving—one after another they were pure dark cuisine, and she even used mysterious creatures that Li Wenxi had brought back from the underground while mining.

”What do you mean lab rats! This is me honoring you, oh venerable one. First bite has to be yours, my master.” Lou Fei’Er set the plate down on the table, giving a mysterious smile. ”Relax, I won’t make you throw up this time.”

After Lou Fei’Er went back to the kitchen, Li Wenxi slipped out, looking flustered. She leaned in close to Xu Xin and whispered, ”Don’t eat it, seriously don’t. She put %*&#@ in the ingredients...”

”Wh—?! Ugh...” Xu Xin dry‑heaved.

Just hearing it made his stomach turn a little.

Back when Lou Fei’Er still had a contract with him and was under his control, he used to give her psychological trauma all the time.

Now the tables had turned, and some of Lou Fei’Er’s ”new‑style dishes” were seriously giving him trauma!

”Ah! Sis‑in‑law, you actually tattled!” Xu Ying stuck her head out from the kitchen. ”We agreed my brother gets the first bite!”

”Ahahaha, busted... But Fei’Er went way too far this time, that stuff just isn’t edible!”

”Who says it’s not edible? A lot of Qi Xuefei’s medicinal ingredients are extracted from these things, you’ve all eaten them already!” Lou Fei’Er protested.

”Huh? Ugh...” Li Wenxi immediately felt queasy.

”Ugh...” Shi Wanyun also clapped a hand over her mouth on the spot.

”There’s that in the medicine... yue~” Zeng Tao gave a dry retch, then glared at Lou Fei’Er. ”Why would you tell me that! Y‑you... you did it on purpose!”

Lou Fei’Er looked smug. ”Exactly, you’ve all already eaten it. So today you can taste my new creation; it’ll definitely taste way better than medicine!”

Jin Yue stood at the stove, face full of black lines, staring at the boiling unidentifiable mass in the pot. ”Is this really edible? It actually looks... not that bad, appearance‑wise...”

”I’m not eating it, and Xu Xin can’t either. If he eats it, I am never touching his mouth again!” Li Wenxi stamped her foot. ”No one’s allowed to eat it! That pot is banned too! We’re throwing it out together!”

”I’m in favor!”

”I agree.”

”Wow, you’re all ganging up on me now? Today you’re eating it whether you want to or not!”

The kitchen descended into chaos again.

”Don’t mess around in the kitchen!” Xu Xin had no choice but to step in.

A month of peaceful living was enough to change a person’s temperament.

After this period of time, even the gentle‑natured Shi Wanyun and the badly traumatized Jin Yue had become much more cheerful than before.

Especially Jin Yue—she was still quiet around outsiders, but when it was just this group of sisters, she was already far better than before.

In the end, that mysterious dish never made it to the table; it was directly destroyed by popular demand.
