Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1182 - 624: Return to the World Tree (Part 3)

”Mm, the main structures are fine. Just move them up as they are. Honestly, if we didn’t have that World Tree with time flowing a hundred times faster, I wouldn’t even plan to move them up; staying down here is actually pretty good too.”

The plan to move the factories up was only decided after Xu Ying went up and found out that the World Tree’s time-flow was freakishly abnormal.

”Stop with the pointless rambling, let’s just start now.”

”Hey, no rush. Leave the transfer to me, it’s easy. Bro, your mission is to purge the traitors inside the Wei Family and make sure the people who follow us up have absolutely no issues.”

”Got it.”

After that, everything progressed very smoothly.

All the Wei Family people were gathered together. Xu Xin used mind reading to check them and found no fewer than twenty individuals whose thoughts he couldn’t read.

And everyone whose thoughts he could read turned out to be fine.

Once the list was confirmed, Xu Ying picked out some people from outside that group and called them separately to a factory inside a mountain to explain the situation to them.

These people were workers and technicians in weapons manufacturing, and after hearing the explanation, each of them was utterly, completely stunned.

”God! It really is a god!”

”My god! I... I-I... I’m going back to the surface?!”

”I... I’m going to see sunlight?!”

”Are we about to fulfill the dream humanity hasn’t achieved in a thousand years?”

”This feels so unreal... way too sudden...”

”What’s so sudden about it? Our gods have shown up. Isn’t this kind of thing perfectly normal?”

”Gods... wasn’t it said they’re just humans who rely on technology to travel through time?”

”Huh? If they can take me to the surface and let me see the legendary sun, then they’re gods!”

”Isn’t sunlight super dangerous... Doesn’t it make your skin rot off and kill you as soon as it shines on you...”

”Damn, you actually believe the rumors those other two families spread? Are you even a Wei Family person?”

”My surname isn’t Wei... I just got here not long ago. So those were rumors!”

”Hm? You’re a new hire at the factory? Then your luck is way too good!”

”What about my wife and kids? Can they come up with me?”

”Yeah, I can’t be the only one going up, right?”

”Not that you couldn’t, you could treat it like a business trip?”

Their families of course had to come too. After all, once they went up, they wouldn’t be coming back down.

That part was actually very convenient. Those who worked in the Wei Family’s weapons workshops, due to confidentiality rules, all had their families living inside the Wei Family compound.

Xu Xin and Xu Ying gave them two hours to find their family members and pack their essentials.

Two hours sounded rushed, but it was already the biggest grace period the two could offer.

If they gave any more time, who knew what things would look like by the time they got back.

And while those two hours were ticking by, Xu Xin and Shishi used the available data to compile information on the problematic individuals and organized it for Xu Ying.

Xu Ying originally planned to be decisive and just take those people out directly, but Xu Xin stopped her and handed her his wristband, telling her to just store them all inside the band.

To be stored in the wristband required the target’s permission, but knocking them out first solved that problem, and for Xu Ying that was a piece of cake.

They might be able to pry something out of these people’s mouths, so for now they’d just be imprisoned.

However, they were probably just survivors from the earlier batches, and likely knew even less than Xu Xin did.

By the time Xu Ying finished all this, everyone had already assembled in the factory.

Xu Xin and Xu Ying hadn’t asked them to keep things secret, so news that they were about to head to the surface had already spread throughout the entire Wei Family and was even continuing to spread outward.

The entire Wei Family was boiling with excitement.

Everyone who had gathered here had an excited expression on their face.

Xu Xin used his mind-reading ability again to confirm everyone’s condition. There were no issues.

”You two really know how to get me into trouble.”

Shishi rubbed her head in mild frustration.

”Your news is already out. Won’t be long before everyone knows that two gods came to our Wei Family and even took a bunch of people back to the surface. They’ll realize the surface isn’t dangerous at all, and it’s even more suitable for living than underground.

Also... the news about you two outside is already all over the place. There were already some hints pointing at the Wei Family, and now our Wei Family probably won’t have a moment’s peace.”

News all over the place was probably thanks to that reporter from before.

”That was exactly my intention.” Xu Ying laughed and patted her shoulder. ”You just work hard and take on the tough, glorious mission of bringing everyone up to the surface. We won’t say more. We’re heading up first.”

”I keep feeling like you two are in a huge rush.” Shishi was puzzled.

”A hundred-times time flow—try it and you’d be anxious too. Alright, we’ll... see you in a few hours?”

”A few hours?”

”Haha, might not even take that long!”

And just like that, Xu Xin and Xu Ying took all the people and supplies they needed and returned to the World Tree.
