Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1173 - 622: Modern Armament!

From the alley to the Wei Family, it only takes one teleport.

As soon as Xu Xin opened his eyes, he was stunned by the massive steel beasts before him.

In a vast area that wasn’t open-air, armored tanks, combat vehicles, helicopters, and fighter jets were laid out before him.

Yes, laid out flat.

The distance between the weapons was only a few meters, neat and orderly, a truly magnificent sight.

Xu Xin also saw missiles over ten meters long on the combat vehicles, making him feel somewhat dazed, as if he had returned to a millennium ago.

Having survived here for so long, they had always used cold weapons, with only explosive crossbow bolts and heavy crossbows for hot weapons.

Unexpectedly seeing so many modern weapons, even though he was mentally prepared, his heart was still in turmoil.

Is this perhaps... underground? Or inside a mountain?

”Are these all the Wei Family’s armaments?”

”Hmm...?” Keke, lying on Xu Xin’s shoulder, tilted her little head as she looked at a huge tank.

”No, this is just part of it.” Xu Ying led Xu Xin through these weapons and equipment, ”I had Wei Shishi gather part of the armament together to make it easier for us to transport upwards.”

”Suddenly, it feels like our previous battles were just child’s play...”

Xu Xin marveled at the massive armaments surrounding him.

Perhaps only their ultimate weapons could be considered on par with these.

”Don’t underestimate yourselves; the upper limit of the survivors’ weapon production is much higher than these. These are all weapons from a thousand years ago.”

A thousand years ago...

Ah.

Right, these weapons might not be called modern anymore.

A thousand years ago... they could even be considered ancient weapons.

”In a thousand years, hasn’t anything stronger been developed?”

Xu Xin walked among these armaments, carefully inspecting them.

These devices were basically the same as the armaments he remembered from a thousand years ago, with hardly any changes.

”They’re somewhat stronger than a thousand years ago, but not by much.” Xu Ying patted a tank beside her, ”Until a century ago, this was a very peaceful world. They didn’t have much motivation to produce weapons before.”

”Moreover, there’s spatial limitation here. Even though we wanted them to rapidly iterate their weapons, in this underground world, the highest point of the dome is just over three thousand meters, and most places aren’t even that high. This height makes fighter jets difficult to maneuver, let alone intercontinental missiles that could easily break the atmosphere a thousand years ago, so the progress of large weapons has almost stagnated.”

With that, Xu Ying sighed helplessly.

”Even though large weapons haven’t developed over these thousand years, our personal weapons are much stronger than a thousand years ago.”

At this moment, the voice of a woman came from not far away.

A tall woman with a slightly cold and clearly somewhat weary expression walked over.

”The firearms we can carry are much stronger than those from a thousand years ago.”

”Indeed.” Xu Ying smiled upon seeing the woman, ”In this underground world, developing personal armament is the right path. The variety, power, functionality, and range of firearms here are indeed much stronger than a thousand years ago.”

Xu Xin then looked at the woman before him.

She seemed to be around the same age as Li Wenxi, about twenty years old.

Perhaps she should be called a girl. If it were a thousand years ago, this would be the age for college.

But Xu Xin knew that this young-looking girl before him was the current Patriarch of the Wei Family.

The owner of this array of steel beasts before him, Wei Shishi.

”Shishi, I’ve brought my brother back.”

”Your brother...” Wei Shishi looked at Xu Xin and smiled slightly, ”Hello.”

Xu Xin instinctively activated his mind reading ability, and instantly, Wei Shishi’s thoughts echoed in his mind.

[Is this Xu Ying’s brother? Indeed... he looks exactly like the statue in the central square. But as Xu Ying said, this is not the man grandpa saw back in the day, but another Xu Xin who’s only in his twenties... Is the future of humanity really going to be in their hands? Can he... lead us back to living on the surface?]

Unexpectedly, upon seeing him, Wei Shishi had such a flurry of thoughts.

Fortunately, from her thoughts, she seemed to be fine.

”Hello.” Xu Xin extended his hand and shook Wei Shishi’s.

”I brought my brother here for... wait.” Xu Ying looked at Xu Xin, a questioning look in her eyes.

Her meaning was clear, asking if there was anything wrong with Wei Shishi’s thoughts.

Xu Xin made an ”ok” gesture, indicating that Wei Shishi was fine.

And before them, a slight trace of confusion appeared on Wei Shishi’s slightly weary face.

[What are these two talking about...?]

”There’s really no problem, right? Then I’ll tell her our plan. After all, she’s the current leader of the underground world.” Xu Ying confirmed with Xu Xin once more.

With Wei Shishi’s special status, knowing the plan would make things much more convenient for Xu Xin and his sister, provided she had no issues herself.

Xu Xin stared at Wei Shishi, causing her to furrow her brow slightly.

[What does he mean?]

[Why is he staring at me?]

[Could it be, is he testing me?]
