Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1093 - 594: The World Tree Has Matured (Part 2)

But with Wenxi absent, the resources they have on hand are dwindling, and her sense of unease is growing.

I really don’t know when Wenxi will be back...

”Don’t underestimate Sister Wenxi. Your treehouse ballista, the explosive crossbow bolts you fire, even the equipment you’re wearing now, all these materials were discovered and mined thanks to Sister Wenxi’s capabilities!”

”That’s right, if it weren’t for Sister Wenxi, the Explorers wouldn’t be so well-resourced!”

The survivors originally residing next to Li Wenxi’s treehouse started introducing Li Wenxi to the new members.

”Does she really have such abilities? No wonder the equipment level of the Explorers surpasses the big organizations in District 1 by so much... No, I mean... their big organization in District 1!”

”She’s a rich lady! The one who controls the entire resources of the Explorers! Then... do I still have a chance to get a hug from the rich lady?”

”Pfft! You’re done for. Wenxi is Brother Xin’s girlfriend. If Brother Xin hears what you just said...”

”Ah?! Hahaha, you all probably don’t know, I have congenital Alzheimer’s, so sometimes I just talk nonsense. I’ve been like this since I was a kid, hahaha...”

”Isn’t Alzheimer’s supposed to be dementia for old people...”

”Hahaha, don’t mind those details. By the way, weren’t we just talking about the World Tree treehouse? I want to get closer to take a look over there!”

”Hey, hey, don’t go. The big shots of the Explorers have it blocked off.”

”Ah? Why’s that?”

”Why else? Of course, it’s to prevent anything from attacking the World Tree again. If we all gather around the World Tree, we wouldn’t dare use the treehouse ballista recklessly, and even defending it would be a problem.”

”That makes sense.”

”But, didn’t Brother Xin just tell us? In twenty-eight hours, the World Tree will fully mature!”

”Still twenty-eight hours to go... such a long time. Do you think there will be another beast attack?”

”Our weapons and resources are already in short supply...”

”Afraid of what? I really doubt they could muster a decent army within just about a day.”

”Why bother talking about it? We should go and clear the battlefield on the outskirts, maybe we can retrieve some beast corpses that Sister Gui Xin didn’t poison to decompose!”

”Hey, hey, be careful! That beast corpse in front of you was poisoned! Don’t accidentally touch it!”

”Oh, oh...”

In the two hours after the battle, under the coordination of the Explorers and the efforts of the survivors and friendly mutant creatures, the entirely ravaged environment around the World Tree still looked brand new.

All the Tyrannosaurus and mutant creature corpses have been reclaimed and decomposed, and all the collapsed ground has been leveled out through the efforts of the group and the beasts.

Of course, that five-meter-wide trench encircling the World Tree is still there and has not been filled in.

After all, this trench is the best defensive line to prevent anyone from sneaking up.

To avoid any situations like Shi Wanyun previously mentioned where there might be a traitor among them.

Xu Xin has already informed the members of the Explorers about what Shi Wanyun told him.

There are no issues among the Explorers. If there had been, the World Tree would have been in trouble long ago.

They were informed of what the outlying survivors were doing, the situation outside, and Shi Wanyun’s suspicions, to make everyone vigilant and not let anyone get close to the World Tree.

”Alas, if only the treehouse armor could be used.” Xu Xin sighed.

Treehouse armor is wooden armor that can protect the trunks of these treehouses by putting two halves like a split cylinder together, encircling, and protecting the treehouse trunk inside.

But the trunk of the World Tree is just too thick, with a diameter of over ten meters, thicker than the chimneys of a giant chemical plant.

The treehouse armor simply can’t be used.

The trunk of the World Tree can only remain exposed.

Wang Lei: ”Don’t worry, Brother Xin, we won’t let anyone get near the treehouse.”

Wen Guixin: ”Just hang in there for twelve more hours, hang in there for half a day, and we will have won!”

Xu Xin hurriedly said: ”But don’t tell anyone else this time. I told them that the World Tree still needs 28 hours to mature.”

If there really is someone with a problem among them, this timing would lead them to believe ”it’s still early, there’s no rush.”

Similarly, if there is indeed a spy, this spy will certainly inform the enemy of the time.

If he were the enemy, knowing there were still 28 hours left, he wouldn’t be anxious but would instead wait for the opportune moment.

He wouldn’t make a move during the daytime at dawn, but would wait until night, preferably in the early hours of the next day when it’s still dark and people’s alertness is at its lowest, to act.

But if the opponent really thinks this way, that would be best.

Because if they really wait until then, the World Tree, will have matured.

Of course, this is just a minor trick, and whether there’s actually a traitor or spy among them, and whether the enemy will be fooled by false information, remains uncertain.

But in any case, what needs to be done must still be done.

”Our current resources and equipment level are not optimistic.” At this point, Ji Chaoyang said in the group, ”I just asked Li Yajun, and she told me there are only a few explosive crossbow bolts left, and all the metal is gone.”

Wen Guixin: ”Alas, when will Wenxi come back... I miss her so much. Without her abilities, we really don’t dare to do anything... Xu Xin, hurry and find Wenxi back, don’t you still have your sister?”

Xu Xin: ”Once the World Tree matures, Wenxi and Yingying can come back.”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”Ah? Does Brother Xin already know where they are?”

Xu Xin: ”Yes, I already know.”

Qi Xuefei: ”When did you find out, aren’t you going to tell us?”

Xu Xin: ”It’s inconvenient. You can ask Wenxi yourselves when she gets back, it’s not something I should discuss much. What we need to consider now is the issue of weapons and equipment before the World Tree matures.”

Qin Yunlong: ”Yes, if another beast tide comes, with the number of weapons we currently have, we simply won’t be able to hold out.”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Although our metal resources are limited, during the recent battle, we’ve gained a lot of mutant creature resources.

Though most can’t be decomposed due to being contaminated by Wen Guixin, a portion died from fighting and explosions, and that portion of mutant creature materials is already substantial for us.

So, maybe we can use new materials like beast bones to make ordinary advanced crossbow bolts or heavy crossbow arrows, etc.”

This is indeed a great idea.

In reality, they had only decomposed a single Tyrannosaurus carcass because the body was too large, requiring excessive time to decompose, which wasn’t suitable now.

They can take their time decomposing once they select a good time.

But there are quite a few other mutant creature bodies, which are easily decomposable.

With the efforts of all the survivors of Crystal City, mutant creature materials are now more abundant than ever, including special materials for crafting unique weapons.

With the treehouse crossbows, even if not with explosive crossbow bolts, a sky filled with regular arrows can still be incredibly destructive.

Wen Guixin: ”Ah, then you guys handle that, I still need to retrieve those contaminated mutant creature bodies.”

Wang Lei: ”Didn’t you make those remaining contaminated mutant creatures commit suicide in the end? I remember directly self-destructing ones can be decomposed, right?”

Wen Guixin: ”Well, only the last batch survived for at most a little over ten minutes after being contaminated by me. This battle lasted nearly two hours. Earlier, large swaths had died, all left in Crystal City, and only I can clean it up... Really!”

Wang Lei: ”You’ve worked hard!”

Wen Guixin: ”Shut up, you!”

Xu Xin sat down on the sofa, cradling the dozing Keke and smoothing its fur.

Hopefully, there won’t be any more problems.

Everything that needed to be prepared has been.

Next, it’s time to confront whatever challenges lie ahead.

The result was that they seemed to have overthought it.

The proceedings went more smoothly than they could have imagined.

Not a single attack, nor an attempt at a surprise attack.

The twelve hours passed without a hitch.

Looking at the towering and lush tree before him, Xu Xin couldn’t hide his excitement.

The World Tree had matured.
