Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1089 - 593: Strange Sounds and Familiar Symptoms

Wei Bai’s explanation to the others was very clear and simple.

He had basically reached an agreement with the Yuan Family.

The Yuan Family disagreed with mining near the center of the city because they were aware of their own technology and couldn’t ensure it wouldn’t affect the city.

Even if the impact from falling debris during mining could be avoided, mining on the dome would greatly affect the air quality in the main district.

After all, this is the underground world. Although the air circulates, it moves very slowly. Once polluted, it would be hard to self-clean.

Not to mention long-term mining sites, spreading pollution from above downward.

”...I never really considered this.” Xu Ying shrugged slightly.

If her plan went smoothly, she could soon lead humanity from the underground world back to the surface to reconstruct sunlight.

Whether the underground base was polluted or not, it truly didn’t matter.

On the contrary, mining sites close to processing and utilization areas would be more efficient for manufacturing weapons.

However, the Yuan Family’s idea... is quite normal.

”Didn’t you say you basically reached an agreement?” Li Wenxi asked.

Wei Shishi nodded, ”The other party guarantees that while it won’t work around here, if a mining site can be found in another area, they’ll be very willing to mine. As a family managing resources, they actually feel the urgency of resource scarcity the strongest.

They deeply understand that the resources we have are already diminishing with use.”

Even so, protect the environment first?

Or is it the result of Wei Bai’s guidance?

Because the teleportation device is in the range where mining could take place.

If mining actually occurred, the teleportation device would practically be exposed.

Or... does the Yuan Family also know about this?

”So, what’s the point you haven’t mentioned, what did Wei Bai do after he disappeared?” Xu Ying continued to ask.

”Grandpa said that after he got in the car, for some unknown reason he felt drowsy and then fell asleep. When he woke up, the car and the driver were gone, and he was lying in the wilderness.”

Wei Shishi walked to the window, pointing north of the city, ”That’s where we found him, an uninhabited area, and when we discovered Grandpa, for several kilometers around, he was the only person.

No one knows how he was sent there.”

”You say waking up in the wilderness, was in the nearby suburbs?” Li Wenxi asked again.

”Yes.”

”That’s strange.” Xu Ying looked at Wei Shishi, ”You... couldn’t even find a living person in the city suburbs?”

”...I find it kind of strange.” Wei Shishi pursed her lips and said.

”The Wei Family used a carpet search, equipped with infrared sensing devices that detect human body heat, on every military helicopter, even on every person’s equipment, and we are professional search and rescue personnel. If Grandpa had been in that area earlier, we would have found him long ago.”

She looked at Xu Ying, ”It’s like... he was suddenly teleported there.”

”...Are you suspecting me?” Xu Ying saw her somewhat strange gaze and pointed to her nose, ”Do you think I teleported him there?”

Indeed, with her teleportation ability, she could teleport Wei Bai there and leave herself.

”...No, you don’t have the need to do that.” Wei Shishi shook her head, ”My focus is on this teleportation. So now it’s my turn to ask you, did you find the teleportation device above the dome?”

Xu Ying and Li Wenxi exchanged a look, hesitating on how to tell her.

”You suspect Wei Bai was teleported there using the teleportation device, right?” Xu Ying understood Wei Shishi’s meaning, ”You... already suspect Wei Bai.”

Wei Shishi remained silent, merely gazing at Xu Ying.

”You guessed right. On top of the dome is the alien invader’s teleportation device, and Wei Bai indeed used the teleportation device.”

Xu Ying’s words made Wei Shishi tremble slightly.

Her mouth opened slightly, wanting to say something, but finally closed shakily.

However, her still somewhat trembling eyes revealed her inner turmoil.

”...Can you be sure?” Wei Shishi took a deep breath, calmed her emotions, and asked.

”Of course we can, right sister-in-law.”

”Yes, Shishi, we saw your grandpa teleport with our own eyes.” Li Wenxi said seriously to Wei Shishi, ”At that time, he teleported up in front of us, disappeared from us, and teleported down, moreover...”

”Moreover, what?” Wei Shishi closely watched Li Wenxi, very concerned about her next words.

”Moreover, he looked like he was decades younger, with black hair and no wrinkles on his face.” Xu Ying took over the conversation and said, ”Frankly, he looks quite different from the old guy he is now, but I’m very familiar with his younger appearance and recognized him instantly.”

”Young grandpa...” Wei Shishi murmured to herself, ”So that’s it... I wasn’t wrong then...”

”You weren’t wrong?” Xu Ying immediately caught the crucial information in her words, ”What weren’t you wrong about? Did you also see what Wei Bai looked like when he was young?”

That appearance of Wei Bai, in front of Wei Shishi... had he been exposed?
