Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1055: Chapter 581: Four Layers of Defensive Lines Stacked! Supercannon!

The second day of the ”World Tree Siege” event passed without incident on the ground.

Xu Xin gazed at the sun sinking halfway into the skyline but dared not relax his vigilance.

Throughout this day, they completed all the actions previously planned.

A large trench was dug all around the World Tree.

With the help of three pangolins, the trench’s depth exceeded ten meters, reaching fifteen meters.

Due to the positional limitations, further digging would affect the roots of the World Tree, so excavation had been halted.

Moreover, the trench’s width reached an impressive near-five meters.

This width required considerable effort.

However, there was a reason for doing this.

Just a short while ago, Ji Chaoyang informed them of the prophecy he received for the second day.

He saw vast numbers of mutated creatures swarming into Crystal City, unaffected by the city in the slightest.

”The creatures aren’t exceptionally massive; their size is normal, but the blood patterns on them are vividly crimson.”

This is how Ji Chaoyang described it.

This meant that the enemy had reacted or, through today’s probing, learned that this Crystal City only affects creatures with behemoth bloodlines.

Thus, instead of deploying creatures with behemoth bloodlines for an above-ground attack, they assembled a group of ferocious beasts with mutant bloodlines.

”These beasts include inherently strong ones like lions, tigers, and brown bears; although they lack behemoth bloodlines, their strength shouldn’t be underestimated,” Ji Chaoyang informed everyone.

”Nevertheless, in my prophecy, I didn’t see any flying invaders, but this doesn’t mean they don’t exist. After all, even now, my prophecies only last about twenty minutes.

No one knows if stronger enemies might come, such as...”

Ji Chaoyang gestured towards the ground.

Everyone understood what he meant.

The underground world of those... petrified pterosaurs!

Therefore, once it was confirmed that monsters would definitely attack the next day, the initially planned trench of around two meters width was immediately expanded to five meters.

This width would be enough to block most ground creatures from entering.

Of course, mutated creatures might possess stronger abilities, and five meters might not pose any significant challenge to them, but it would still serve as a deterrent.

Meanwhile, Xu Xin, Ji Chaoyang, Wen Guixin, and Wang Lei transplanted their treehouses into the encircled area near the World Tree trunk.

Because their treehouses all possessed the heart of plants!

Their treehouses were distributed in the cardinal directions of east, west, south, and north around the trunk, making the entire surrounding area of the World Tree within the attack range of the heart of plants.

Other explorers had treehouses positioned a few meters outside the trench, tasked with attacking ground, aerial, and trench enemies.

In addition, nearly two hundred treehouse crossbow defenses were distributed around the Crystal City.

Yes, two hundred people.

Though only one daytime had passed, Xu Xin had gradually transported over a hundred people.

These people were guided and received by Li Yajun, filling in the treehouse defenses around the World Tree and adding treehouse crossbows for them.

These first arrivals were all from Area 188, mostly the survivors Niu Fugui activated from the Transmission Array area.

At the time, these survivors could have come sooner, but before setting out, the winter season ended, causing Area 188’s reward of ”the whole area being a safe zone” to disappear; hence, they dared not set out.

However, now that the World Tree again rendered Area 188 entirely a safe zone, they rejoiced at the news and rushed over non-stop.

These people were those who rushed here without hesitation, naturally daring and action-oriented individuals.

Even though they had to fight upon arrival, they didn’t feel discouraged; instead, they were all excited.

”What powerful equipment!”

”As expected of the explorer overlords!”

”Don’t worry, leaders, we will protect the World Tree!”

”Haha, Crystal City and the World Tree—although I’ve heard them talked about before, seeing them firsthand fills me with overwhelming confidence!”

”Did you see those mutant creatures around Crystal City? I was terrified upon arrival, only to find they were Crystal City’s guards! We are invincible!”

Such were their thoughts.

Indeed, the vast Crystal City radiating a white glow and the gigantic World Tree, astonishing all onlookers, was beyond shocking for a group of survivors accustomed to solitude.

Shocking to an overwhelming degree.

This strong impact filled them with confidence, believing they were invincible, which was understandable.

As for the mutant creatures around Crystal City, Xu Xin entrusted them entirely to Mimi.

Within a day, Mimi became the unquestionable king of the surrounding mutant creatures, making them bow in submission.

This wasn’t too difficult as Mimi had unknowingly evolved into a high-level mutant creature!

This even Xu Xin was unaware of!

Xu Xin used his mind-reading ability to converse with Mimi and learned that the giant’s meat and previously acquired mutant creature potions underground rapidly enhanced her abilities and that she had already evolved to that level while overseeing Shi Wanyun.
