Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1084 - 591: It’s Getting Anxious (Part 2)

So they moved the plan forward?

...A bit far-fetched.

”Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Anyway, I just got back and hadn’t had the chance to come over here when their invasion began,” Shi Wanyun continued, ”At that time, you had just contacted me.”

At that time, he did call Shi Wanyun to urge her a little, and he saw Shi Wanyun’s location on the map in his mind.

Indeed, not far from the Transmission Array.

”And just then, I received all kinds of information,” Shi Wanyun said softly, ”That mysterious voice told me that the beast tide wouldn’t harm me and asked me to stay in position.

At that time, although I was in Crystal City, I hadn’t reached the crown of the World Tree.” Shi Wanyun looked out at Crystal City, ”There, you can still receive messages.”

”So you stayed there the whole time,” Xu Xin asked.

”Yes. Meanwhile, after the appearance of the Tyrannosaurus, I learned from the boasting of people in District 23 on the world channel that the Tyrannosaurus is being controlled by people in District 23. District 23 conducted a selection, picked a total of one hundred twenty people, each controlling a Tyrannosaurus.”

Are those Tyrannosaurus really each controlled by different people?

That makes sense. After all, they are highly mutated prehistoric behemoths. How would an ordinary survivor have the ability to control a group alone?

Moreover, scientists generally believe that as top predators, Tyrannosaurus acted alone when hunting, unlike wolf packs which had a Wolf King controlling the pack.

To control over a hundred Tyrannosaurus, each must indeed have someone in control.

”We should be able to relax a bit today,” Shi Wanyun revealed a smile, her voice gentle, ”From the news I got yesterday and today’s world channel, those who failed in their actions will suffer damage as if receiving backlash, equivalent to being heavily injured.”

”Such a side effect,” Xu Xin paused, ”How do you know?”

”While you were fighting, I wasn’t idle; I constantly checked the situation on the world channel,” Shi Wanyun explained, ”Today’s world channel is filled with people complaining about being close to death, and some areas have significant reductions in overall numbers.

It’s from you killing their controlled mutated creatures, causing similar effects on their controllers.”

Xu Xin fell silent.

Unexpectedly, when they killed mutated creatures, the outside district survivors would end up dying?

...These alien invaders sure have a cunning plan.

Whether they win or lose, the human population will be sharply diminished.

Due to unknown reasons, they can’t act directly, so they use this method to cut down human numbers.

Then Xu Xin shook his head.

It doesn’t matter now.

These survivors are now enemies.

If it was before, he might have felt heartache, worried about the reduction in human numbers, fearing for their future.

But now, he knows there are over a hundred million people in the underground world.

Humans are not scarce.

”The outer district survivors are badly hurt, and before the last Tyrannosaurus was killed, that mysterious voice contacted me again.

Its voice... sounded urgent, speaking rapidly, telling me to purchase this virus from the points mall right away and inject it into the World Tree today.”

Shi Wanyun looked at the tube of virus in Xu Xin’s hand.

Xu Xin also glanced at the virus in his hand, ”And then?”

”Then... you killed the last Tyrannosaurus, and the mysterious voice’s communication suddenly ceased,” Shi Wanyun said softly, ”It seems these mutated creatures were supporting the communication.”

It turns out mutated creatures can indeed support communication.

True enough, these purebred mutated creatures might very well have that capability, possibly equipped with special chips like the survivors.

Otherwise, typically, when they enter Crystal City, when they enter the area beneath the World Tree’s crown, the outer district survivors should lose control over them.

”Before being cut off, the mysterious voice clearly wanted to say something more. That’s why I immediately left Crystal City, thinking that maybe outside, I’d still be able to receive the mysterious voice’s signal.”

Shi Wanyun continued explaining: ”Unfortunately, no. The mysterious voice did not contact me. Soon, you called me, asking me to return. At the time, I was still outside the city and unprotected. Fearing I’d say too much, I simply said I’d return immediately, hung up, and rushed back.”

So that’s how it is.

Based on her account, some points can be summarized.

First, outer district survivor missions failed, resulting in massive deaths and severe damage.

Second, those pureblood mutated creatures must be specially modified, and the Tyrannosaurus were directly resurrected prehistoric beasts through gene technology and are highly mutated creatures.

Given this, the resources and time costs for these pureblood mutated creatures should be high.

Third, the mysterious voice was anxious, seemingly afraid of failure, which is evident from directly instructing Shi Wanyun to inject the virus, indicating they are short on time, likely because of the second point; they can’t now produce so many mutated creatures for attack temporarily.

They need time.

From the looks of it, these next dozen hours shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge.
