Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1072 - 587: Invasion of the Prehistoric Behemoths (Part 2)

Qin Yunlong: ”Are they also considered giant beasts? Will the Crystal City have any effect on them?”

”...The possibility is very low.” Xu Xin looked at the distant horizon filled with dinosaurs. ”Their enormous size isn’t due to giant beast bloodlines; they are naturally this size.

The shimmering white light of the Crystal City can only affect creatures with giant beast bloodlines, but these dinosaurs... only have blood pattern mutations.”

According to the size Ji Chaoyang mentioned, these Tyrannosaurs clearly belong to the normal size category.

They don’t have giant beast bloodlines at all.

It makes sense; the enemy already knows the Crystal City can affect creatures with giant beast bloodlines. They naturally wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.

These Tyrannosaurs cannot possess giant beast bloodlines!

These are ordinary Tyrannosaurs resurrected by technology, then subjected to blood pattern mutations, turning them into blood pattern mutation creatures!

Unexpectedly, the alien invaders managed to obtain controllable Blood Pattern Giant Beasts through this method!

Creatures with giant beast bloodlines develop self-resistance, making them no longer blindly obey the control of the blood pattern. That’s why the alien invaders haven’t completely controlled the Blood Pattern Giant Beasts until now.

That’s why they set up such a laboratory, such an underground prison in the subterranean world.

But now... they’ve managed to successfully control the Blood Pattern Giant Beasts!

Since giant beast bloodlines affect the control of the blood pattern, they simply looked for ferocious giant beasts that don’t rely on giant beast bloodlines but are still large in size. Isn’t that perfect?

Reviving dinosaurs using dinosaur genes entirely fits their expectations.

This leads to the current scenario: hundreds of blood-patterned Tyrannosaurus beasts charging towards the Crystal City!

Ji Chaoyang once again spoke to the group: ”We still have time; those Tyrannosaurs aren’t moving as fast as we imagined, and they actually seem... a bit slow?”

Ah...

Xu Xin was slightly taken aback, then his eyes lit up: ”Yes, exactly, the running speed of Tyrannosaurs isn’t very fast!”

Researchers believe juvenile Tyrannosaurs can run at speeds up to 72 kilometers per hour, but adult Tyrannosaurs can only reach 18-40 kilometers, with 7.2 kilometers per hour being optimal for walking.

Tyrannosaurs have atrophied forelimbs and run using two strong hind legs. They may sprint for short periods, but they mostly walk.

Their body structure can’t support long-distance running. Such a massive weight puts enormous pressure on their hind legs during long runs.

The Tyrannosaur group advancing towards the city confirms the scientists’ hypothesis.

This group isn’t rushing towards us but is... steadily walking towards us.

The speed isn’t fast, roughly... ten kilometers per hour.

To these blood-patterned Tyrannosaurs, this speed requires no effort.

They are conserving energy, amassing strength for the upcoming attack!

At this pace, it may take them over half an hour to reach here.

Giving those present a sense of relief.

But it didn’t lead to real relaxation.

It merely delayed the unsolvable problem by half an hour.

”At least we have some time to think,” Qi Xuefei said, ”not facing these prehistoric beasts completely unprepared.”

”Only half an hour, huh...” Wang Lei appeared somewhat dispirited. ”Half an hour, how could it be enough for a countermeasure? Will our defense battle end in failure?”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”...Fail if we must, at least we still have the Crystal City! They absolutely can’t destroy the Crystal City.”

”Now might not be the time to worry about dinosaurs,” Xu Xin suddenly announced to the group. ”Everyone, those guys digging underground, are almost upon us!”

Just now, he received information from Qin Fu. Qin Fu reported the latest situation underground to Xu Xin.

The forty-six tiger-leopard-sized creatures underground are now only less than thirty meters from the trench they’ve excavated!

The closer they get, the smaller their digging movements become, slowing even more.

However, with surface skirmishes already settled, even such tiny movements are captured by Xu Xin’s amplified hearing.

Of course, he can only hear that there’s some underground disturbance; actual investigation still relies on Qin Fu.

Wen Guixin: ”The ones below are almost here again!”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”Quick, aim all our weapons at the trench!”

Xu Xin: ”They’re mostly around five meters deep; they’ll definitely dig into the trench.”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Proceed cautiously, best to wait until most have emerged into the trench before attacking, or else those remaining might not surface.”

Wang Lei: ”Brother Xin, your pangolins...”

Xu Xin glanced out the window at the trench: ”They’ve long since dug in, standing by.”

Wen Guixin: ”Remember to let them bring out one or two for me, so I can infect them. Tiger-leopard sized creatures are easy for me to infect.”

Qin Yunlong: ”What about the Tyrannosaurs...”

Everyone fell silent for a moment.

In the distance, the Tyrannosaurus group ambled steadily towards them, one by one, seemingly indifferent to this giant world tree.

As if certain their goal would be achieved.

Of course, Tyrannosaurs aren’t herd animals; one hundred moving together without internal conflict clearly means they are under someone’s control.
