Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 739: Chapter 474: The Unspeakable Ability (5,300 Words)

Xu Xin decided to help her.

For the current [Explorers], purple-tier weapons and equipment are not a scarce resource.

They even wanted to equip everyone below with a set.

A set of purple-tier equipment indeed represents a huge cost for survivors in other regions, but for them, it’s not much.

After all, the giant cannon on his treehouse alone is worth ten sets of purple-tier equipment.

”...Thank you.” Shi Wanyun’s trembling eyes calmed down as she expressed her gratitude and immediately swallowed the pill in her hand.

”Hmm...”

She first frowned slightly, then gradually relaxed, finally exhaling a breath of relief.

”...I didn’t expect you to have even more advanced pills.”

Feeling her body fully recovering, Shi Wanyun spoke with a hint of delight.

”You owe us this.”

Xu Xin said, while he was still pondering how he should assist her.

”...Yeah, I know.” Shi Wanyun nodded.

Xu Xin fell into a bit of contemplation.

So, how should he help her?

Advanced mutant creatures...

He felt a bit of a headache.

The ground was filled with overwhelmingly strong opponents against whom they had no resistance once they truly confronted them.

Fortunately, she was less than two kilometers away from the endpoint.

Moreover, from what she said, she wasn’t being crazily chased by all the creatures from the underground world like Lou Fei’Er was.

She was just being treated as prey by some powerful creatures.

With the help of the Concealer’s Cloak provided by Zhao Xiaochuan, compared to Lou Fei’Er’s situation back in the underground world, Shi Wanyun was actually under much less pressure.

What she needed to do was... be wary of ambushes.

After all, some animals, like felines, hunt by hiding and then suddenly pouncing out to strangle their prey.

”...I will give you a set of purple steel armor, a crossbow, and... enough explosive bolts.”

Xu Xin finally decided to support her with these resources.

He then operated and transferred these resources to her.

”The Concealer’s Cloak does not conflict with the purple steel armor. Wear them both,” said Xu Xin.

Shi Wanyun nodded, observed her surroundings, and once she confirmed there was no immediate danger, she quickly donned the purple steel armor and readied her crossbow.

”...The effect of this set of equipment...!” Shi Wanyun was slightly taken aback by the purple steel armor’s similar ”all weapons mastery” enhancement effect. ”So... purple equipment all have such special effects.”

The first piece of purple equipment she encountered was the Concealer’s Hood given by Xu Xin, and the second was this purple steel armor set.

The special effects of the two kinds of equipment somewhat turned her understanding on its head.

Xu Xin smiled faintly.

The knowledge gap between people outside the area and those in area 188 was indeed substantial.

He had known since he crafted the Anaconda Scale Armor set that purple sets had special effects.

But Shi Wanyun only just found out.

At this moment, hope glimmered in Shi Wanyun’s eyes as well.

”Considering your current situation, I have a suggestion,” Xu Xin said.

Shi Wanyun’s current location was extremely dangerous.

Given her current abilities, she was no match for these advanced mutant creatures.

She wasn’t even qualified to fight; her primary goal had to be escape and survival.

This is why Xu Xin gave her the strongest defense set of purple steel armor but not any purple weapons.

The implication was clear: don’t even think about fighting; it’s pointless.

Her mission was simple—not to engage in combat but to avoid all advanced mutant creatures and reach her destination.

Any combat action would be redundant, a waste of time, and, worse, could attract more mutant creatures.

So, Xu Xin’s suggestion was straightforward.

”Use explosive bolts to draw those creatures’ attention, and take this chance to advance to the base of the giant tree. If things get critical, stop in place and don’t move, use the Concealer’s Cloak to hide from the mutant creatures’ senses, and continue to use explosive bolts to distract them, seizing the opportunity to move.”

Shi Wanyun’s eyes widened slightly, she pondered for a moment and took a gentle breath, ”Your method... it might indeed let me survive.”

Although her tone was relatively calm and her voice gentle, Xu Xin could see that her knuckles gripping the crossbow were whitening with the force.

It was quite natural for her to be slightly loss of composure.

In the face of despair, finding a glimmer of hope could make anyone break into tears of joy.

After all, no one wants to die, especially not to be devoured by beasts, that was too despairing.

”Also...”

Xu Xin opened his hand toward the camera: ”I have three pills here, the same advanced pills you just took.”

Shi Wanyun slightly parted her lips, stunned for a couple of seconds, ”Are you... giving them to me?”

She understood that with these three pills, her chances of success would increase significantly!

In fact, it could be said to be a sure thing!

That was equivalent to having three extra lives!

But...

”Do you... want something from me?” Shi Wanyun slightly frowned, then shook her head, ”I don’t think I have anything that interests you, nor do I have valuable items to trade. Maybe when I return, I could offer something.”
