Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 701: Chapter 462 This Event Just Doesn’t Want People to Complete! (4800 words)

At this moment, Keke also lifted her small head from his embrace.

Seeing the scene, Keke uttered a soft ”hmm” and buried her head back.

Then she began to murmur ”hmm hmm hmm” in his arms.

...So, this is the danger Keke sensed?!

Indeed...

This is too dangerous!

Back then, he couldn’t even deal with a single high-level mutant biostone statue, and there are dozens of them here!

Plus, a whole bunch of other level mutant biostone statues. If these guys come to life...

He honestly couldn’t imagine it!

There’s absolutely no chance of resisting!

Thankfully, these mutant biostone statues didn’t take action because of Lou Fei’Er’s and his presence.

They remain motionless, either lying on the ground or standing there.

Overall, they look quite orderly.

”Look at the group of high-level mutant biostone statues in the middle.” Lou Fei’Er pointed to the center, ”Before you came, I roughly observed the surroundings and noticed that only there is a peculiar device.”

Xu Xin concentrated his gaze in that direction.

Keke also slightly raised her small head to sneak a peek: ”Hmm?”

Various creatures transformed into enormous statues, standing motionlessly there, giving an overwhelming sense of oppression.

However, they should currently be without consciousness.

Just like back on the peak of Xue Feng.

This group of statues is of grey-grade, showing no vibrant color in his eyes.

The entire space, using discernment ability, appeared to be a gloomy grey.

Except for the very center.

In the center, a streak of gold quietly emitted, standing out prominently in the whole space.

”What is that...” Xu Xin squinted as he looked over.

”It seems to be a... control console?” Lou Fei’Er also continued to examine that direction, ”Just like the kind we saw in the prison... control console?”

Indeed.

Within the encirclement of all the statues, Xu Xin saw a corner of a control console.

This is the kind made of special metal, just like in the prison control room!

Yet, in the control room, there are many such consoles, but here, there is only one.

And...

This control console isn’t like those he’s seen before,

At least from his angle, he can only see there’s a button on the console.

A big, purple-black button.

”Purple-black button?” Xu Xin slightly relaxed his brows, thoughtfully.

This color in this world generally represents...

Portal!

Yes, indeed the color of portals!

No way...

Could it be, that’s the mechanism to open the passage between the underground world and the surface world?

”A purple-black button, it should be related to the portal, right?” At this moment, Lou Fei’Er also spoke.

Xu Xin nodded: ”Seems like our target should be to press that button.”

Pressing that purple-black button might open the Transmission Array connecting the surface to the underground.

But...

”...Damn it.”

Xu Xin couldn’t help but curse.

Is this event just aiming to foil their success?!

They’ve come this far with significant difficulty.

Facing giant beasts, prison, and riots.

If it were ordinary survivors, they’d have likely perished midway through the event.

Unexpectedly, in the end, this big challenge comes their way!

They are being forced to enter this cluster of statues!

”How about... I go down and take a look?” Lou Fei’Er suggested, seeing Xu Xin’s very complex expression.

Xu Xin glanced at her: ”You go down, how are you going to come up?”

”Climb up!” Lou Fei’Er said with ease, pointing to the passage they came up, ”I’m not like you who can jump so high, I climbed up when coming, the vine walls are quite easy to climb.”

True. But...

”If these guys wake up, having twice the lives wouldn’t be enough for you.” Xu Xin still shook his head, forbidding her from going down, and reminded, ”Also, replenish your Spiritual Power, who knows when those creatures might awaken, I wouldn’t want you to be so scared that you can’t move.”

”Oh, okay.” Lou Fei’Er also thought of that, quickly took out an orange and started peeling it.

With her current Spiritual Power, facing one or two pterosaur statues like before might not be an issue, but against dozens of high-level mutants...

She felt she couldn’t handle it.

Thankfully, these statues haven’t woken up yet.

Xu Xin, upon seeing the orange, also handed an apple to the persistent Keke, then once again examined these statues.

”Hmm... but these statues might not necessarily become active, right? Think about it, when we activated the Transmission Array back then, isn’t the scene now very similar? There wasn’t any incident back then.” Lou Fei’Er put a slice of orange in her mouth, argued.

Xu Xin nodded then shook his head again.

No, it shouldn’t be activating the Transmission Array now, because...

”If there really is a Transmission Array here, then it should be already activated.” Xu Xin shared his speculation.

”Already activated? What do you mean?” Lou Fei’Er was somewhat surprised.

”Do you remember the introduction of the vine-thread key?”

”Introduction of the key? Hmm...Ah!” Lou Fei’Er realized.

[... The vine-thread keys have a total of six, corresponding to six vine-thread branch prison locks, opening all prisons will activate the main vine-thread mechanism, unlocking the passage to the underground world.]
