Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 707: Chapter 464: He... Is Talking to Me? (4400 words)

”Wait, hold on.” Lou Fei’Er interrupted Xu Xin and Chang Yin, saying somewhat perplexedly, ”What do you mean? Why suddenly go down? What’s the use of going down there? You don’t think you can communicate with that big guy, do you?”

Xu Xin smiled and said, ”Don’t worry, I have my own methods.”

”Your own methods?” Lou Fei’Er was stunned for a moment, then revealed an expression of ”got it,” ”Do you have some other special abilities? As expected, you didn’t tell them all of your abilities.”

”You could say that.” Xu Xin rubbed his brow and said.

He didn’t intend to tell others about his mind-reading ability.

Not to mention others, Ji Chaoyang that guy...

He’s mysterious all day long, who knows what he’s up to, he’s definitely hiding something.

He couldn’t expose all of his abilities; he needed to keep some cards up his sleeve.

The group around him was trustworthy and didn’t need too much guarding, but information can always leak out through various channels, so he had to keep some things hidden.

Otherwise, if the enemy understood him thoroughly, big problems could arise.

Now he could basically confirm that their opponents in this world were also a group of high-intelligence individuals, so everything must be handled carefully.

Lou Fei’Er was sensible and didn’t ask what his abilities were.

Chang Yin first stood silently in place, motionless for a long time, then lifted his head and nodded to the two of them, ”Alright, I’ve deactivated the device that induces unconsciousness in creatures entering the area, you can go in now.”

”But I’m not going down; I’ve had contact with that big guy a few times, and it doesn’t seem to like me much. If I go down, I might anger it.” Chang Yin explained, ”And no matter what method you use, make sure not to anger that big guy, or I won’t be able to save you.”

”To come back up, you can take the underground warehouse route; that road is always accessible.”

He didn’t ask what method Xu Xin would use since he already knew the people who came down were all skilled, and having abilities was very normal.

”Okay.” Xu Xin nodded, then said to Lou Fei’Er, ”You shouldn’t go down either.”

”What?” Lou Fei’Er was taken aback, ”You’re going down alone?”

”Yeah, you stay up here and wait for the others. They might arrive in a few minutes.”

Lou Fei’Er immediately shook her head, ”No, no, it’s too dangerous, isn’t it? If you die, I can’t live either. I’ll go with you. Leave this to Chang Yin, okay?”

”With this little guy here, I’m very safe. Chang Yin has his own matters.” Xu Xin rubbed Keke’s little head, who was still asleep in his arms, ”Alright, I’m leaving, you just wait up here.”

”Indeed.” Chang Yin slightly turned his head towards Xue Lan.

”I...” Lou Fei’Er really wanted to go down together, but due to the contract, she couldn’t disobey Xu Xin’s words, so she could only stand there helplessly.

Xu Xin didn’t waste any more words and directly walked forward.

After a few steps, Keke in his arms suddenly moved twice.

”...Ying? Ying!” Keke opened its eyes and saw him stepping towards the trap, and immediately shouted, pushing against Xu Xin’s chest with its little paws, ”Ying ying ying!”

”Don’t worry, Keke, I know it’s a trap, I’m intentionally stepping on it.” Xu Xin patted its ear and smiled.

”Ying?” Keke tilted its little head, looking bewildered.

Xu Xin advanced two more steps.

The ground beneath suddenly split open on both sides.

The cracking speed was extremely fast, instantly forming a large pit.

His whole body suddenly fell.

”Ying!” Keke directly buried its little head into Xu Xin’s embrace.

But for him, who had enhanced jumping ability, the fall posed no harm.

He even took a moment to glance around.

In the crevices of the cracked ground, there were a few black pipe openings.

And in the instant he fell, his head felt slightly dizzy, but he didn’t pass out. Instead, he landed lightly on the soft and elastic ground.

Then bounced back up.

Fell again.

Bounced up again.

After a few bounces, he finally stabilized his body.

Above his head, the opened pit had closed.

In that brief moment, he understood why falling creatures would lose consciousness.

Gas.

Those pipe exits released gas, and those gases were colorless, tasteless, and lighter than air, so they float above.

Once a creature falls, it would inhale the gas, or be corroded by it, leading to unconsciousness.

Chang Yin had just deactivated the device, venting the gas above, but a tiny bit remained, which was why Xu Xin felt dizzy for a moment.

”Ying...” Keke lifted its head from Xu Xin’s bosom, looking around.

Shaking his head, Xu Xin stopped thinking about it and looked down.

Can this big guy really communicate?

He focused his mind, looking downward, trying to hear the thoughts of this big guy.

However, it was of no use.

No sound reached his ears.

So, he stomped his foot a few times.

Still, nothing happened.

This big guy is probably... asleep?

”Ying!” Keke climbed onto Xu Xin’s shoulder, pointing its little paw at the upper level of the prison.
