Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 723: Chapter 469: Mounting the Great Cannon! (A 5100-word long Chapter!)

Xu Xin took the backpack, intending to retrieve the crossbow from it.

”Don’t, Brother Xin!” Ma Hongwei immediately stopped him, ”It’s very big, taking it out would be troublesome. You’d better mount it directly on your treehouse.”

Is it really that big...

”Doesn’t your treehouse have one of these?” Xu Xin put down the backpack and asked, ”Show me how it looks.”

When he first arrived, he had seen Ma Hongwei’s treehouse surrounded by a row of new-style crossbows.

Those crossbows were very conspicuous; even when hidden in the treehouse canopy, they reflected a chilling metallic luster under the sunlight. Among them, several emitted a purple glow, indicating they were of purple-grade.

Moreover, the treehouses of the people around him were also equipped with many extremely powerful crossbows.

He had also seen those same crossbows mounted on several other people’s treehouses.

These few treehouses could already be considered a very powerful line of defense.

As long as the ammunition was sufficient, any beast tide that appeared before would be a piece of cake for Ma Hongwei’s team.

However, he didn’t happen to see an extremely giant crossbow just now.

”Not equipped.” Ma Hongwei shook his head, ”So far, I’ve only made one crossbow of this grade because it consumes too many materials.”

He then scratched his head sheepishly: ”At first, when I asked Li Wenxi for materials, she wouldn’t give them to me. She said it consumed too much and decided not to make it for now. I told her it was for you, and only then did she give me the materials for one crossbow.”

”...I see, is it a lot? How much?”

”Oh, it requires ten portions of purple-grade steel, ten portions of purple-grade wood, and ten portions of purple-grade beast tendons...”

”Alright, alright, I understand.”

Xu Xin felt genuinely overwhelmed.

The materials consumed were even more than what Zeng Tao needed for that knife!

This matter was better left to Ma Hongwei and Li Wenxi to discuss; even if he knew, there wasn’t much he could do.

After all, the resources were in Li Wenxi’s hands, and the technology was in Ma Hongwei’s hands.

He was just responsible for using it.

”And this is just for the crossbow’s materials.” Ma Hongwei became excited when he talked about this crossbow, ”The special crossbow bolts for this require five portions of purple-grade metal and five portions of purple-grade nitre per shot! This thing is a super, super enhanced version of the previous heavy crossbow bolt!”

As he spoke, he took out an enormous crossbow bolt over three meters long and as thick as an arm from the backpack he had handed to Xu Xin earlier.

Then he slowly placed it on the ground.

From his actions, one could tell how heavy this crossbow bolt was!

Remember, Ma Hongwei had super-strength mutation!

”Yee?” Keke ran over to the crossbow bolt and pushed it lightly with a small paw.

”Don’t mess with it.”

Xu Xin squatted down, lifted Keke by the scruff of its neck, and placed it aside, then reached out to touch the purple-grade crossbow bolt.

[Super Delayed Explosive Metal Crossbow Bolt (Purple): A crossbow bolt with extremely strong penetration, capable of easily piercing a giant beast’s purple-grade scale armor with its own weight. The bolt head contains powerful explosives that detonate one second after the bolt is embedded in a target’s body, causing massive explosive damage!

Due to its special and heavy construction, it requires a special crossbow for firing.]

Wow!

This description is indeed a vast improvement over the previous [Delayed Explosive Metal Crossbow Bolt (Blue)]!

But it makes sense; after all, the previous bolt only consumed one portion of blue-grade steel and one portion of blue-grade nitre, while this consumes five portions of purple-grade steel and five portions of purple-grade nitre!

The power of a blue-grade explosion is already dozens of times that of a regular explosive bolt, so this super bolt using five times the purple-grade materials...

”Aren’t you... going a bit overboard?” Xu Xin looked up at Ma Hongwei, his expression strange.

This power... it’s genuinely been elevated to a stratospheric level.

He was now a little afraid to touch the crossbow bolt, fearing it might blow up and take both of them, along with the entire treehouse, with it.

”Uh...” Ma Hongwei awkwardly rubbed his nose and laughed, ”It is a bit much, actually. I made the crossbow bolt first, but realized the previous crossbows couldn’t use it, so I had to make a matching, more material-consuming crossbow...”

Well, it’s like wrapping dumplings just for the vinegar.

But the power, imagining it is indeed super massive.

However, one crossbow bolt consumes ten portions of purple-grade materials...

What a super resource-intensive weapon!

His halberd only used two portions of purple-grade materials!

Ma Hongwei waved his fist, ”Next time, if that giant anaconda dares to come out from the heart of the lake again, watch me pierce and blow it apart directly!”

Xu Xin showed a confident expression, nodding: ”You know, this crossbow bolt... might really inflict significant damage on that giant anaconda!”

If the previous blue-grade crossbow was still a bit low-level and couldn’t hurt the giant anaconda, only dealing with regular giant beasts, this crossbow bolt...

There shouldn’t be a concern about that anymore!

A purple-grade crossbow paired with a purple-grade crossbow bolt, breaking through the giant anaconda’s purple-grade scales shouldn’t be a problem!
