Berserk God of War

Chapter 396: Chapter 396: The Fangs of Thunder Dragon Mountain

With that thought, Master Shi’s aura had already surged, getting ready to launch an attack on Sikong Jing.

But at that moment, Sikong Jing countered with a question, ”Master Huo, do you know about Senior Sister Yu Yan being detained in solitary confinement?”

As soon as he had spoken, Master Shi blinked furiously, bewildered. What was happening—why suddenly mention Yu Yan?

Huo Yanmei’s eyes flashed with a glint of cold, ”Why isn’t this little apprentice answering about Xingluo Palace, and suddenly brings up Yu Yan instead?”

”I came to Fire Dragon Mountain to see Senior Sister Yu Yan, but... I heard from the apprentices here that she had been detained, and they wouldn’t let me see her, so I had no choice but to try and ask Master Huo about it.”

With these words, Master Shi became even more confused.

You blew up the outer court of Fire Dragon Mountain, just to meet Yu Yan?

You didn’t want to join Fire Dragon Mountain at all; you just used this tactic to meet the master to question why Yu Yan was detained?

Could this little apprentice have just acted impulsively out of passion for a beauty?

Huo Yanmei stared intently at Sikong Jing, then turned to Master Shi and asked, ”What’s this about Yu Yan? Why was she detained?”

Sikong Jing trembled slightly, the master of Fire Dragon Mountain truly didn’t know.

At this point, Master Shi opened his mouth and replied, ”It was Vice Master Liu who detained her. It was said that it was because she had been appointed one of the three Great Deacons of Task Hall, accused of having taken a shortcut during the grand battle between the two major academies, and they wanted to investigate it thoroughly.”

Hearing this, Huo Yanmei frowned.

She was aware of Yu Yan becoming one of the three Great Deacons, but why it was so abrupt, she wasn’t quite clear because Qin Heng had just appointed her before heading off to fight against Xingluo Palace.

Upon her return, she immediately went into seclusion to heal her injuries, not concerning herself with external affairs.

Thinking of this, Huo Yanmei looked back at Sikong Jing and said lightly, ”This was done by Vice Dean Liu, you should go find him...”

”If I go to him, I will die.”

Sikong Jing interrupted forcefully, then continued, ”I’m certainly not a person from Xingluo Palace. My name is Sikong Jing... you might not have heard of me, but Master Shi certainly has.”

With this statement, Master Shi was baffled again—she hadn’t heard of him!

”If Master Shi hasn’t heard of my name, then she must have surely heard about an apprentice outside Wanbao Pavilion who created a Black Refining Dark Hook Dragon, and then was pursued to the Minglong Mountain Range by Xingluo Palace.”

As Sikong Jing’s words fell, Master Shi’s eyes finally bulged out, exclaiming, ”It’s you, you’re not dead yet.”

Because Lei Zizhen had an arm severed, everyone in Long Night Saint Dragon Palace knew about the incident outside Wanbao Pavilion.

A not-so-powerful little apprentice had triggered a hidden bloodline within a Thunder Winged Dragon Snake, resulting in the creation of a Black Refining Dark Hook Dragon, which then led to being hunted by three chief apprentices of Xingluo Palace.

In the end, it led to Lei Zizhen having one of his arms cut off.

And this apprentice was chased to Minglong Mountain Range, later believed to have been killed by Wangyou Sect.

But he... He hadn’t died!

Since Huo Yanmei had gone into seclusion immediately upon returning, naturally, she was unaware of this incident.

She urgently inquired of Master Shi, and after understanding the whole situation, her eyes also widened in shock over Sikong Jing’s story.

”Why do you say that if you meet Master Liu, you will die?” Huo Yanmei asked further.

Sikong Jing spoke gravely, ”Because Senior Sister Yu confronted Lei Zizhen for me, because Senior Sister Yu was appointed by Vice Palace Master Qin as one of the three Great Deacons of Task Hall, and also because Lei Hongteng... wants to become the Vice Palace Master.”

”He must crush all of Vice Palace Master Qin’s people!”

At this point, Sikong Jing, his True Qi surging, stared intensely at Huo Yanmei, whose face drastically changed in an instant.

And beside her, Master Shi was absolutely astonished.

Sikong Jing continued, ”As for me...”

”I snatched Lei Zizhen’s auction item at Wanbao Pavilion, fought him outside the pavilion where his Thunder Winged Dragon Snake transformed into the Black Refining Dark Hook Dragon, and eventually led Xingluo Palace’s people to sever one of his arms.”

”Do you think he will let me go?”

At these words, Master Shi was so shocked that he couldn’t speak.

Sikong Jing then continued, ”Lei Hongteng kept the Institute Master in the dark and bribed your Vice Master Liu. I think Master Huo must have been an opponent of him becoming the Vice Palace Master, right?”

”Or are you a supporter of Vice Palace Master Qin?”

Opening her mouth, Huo Yanmei’s face showed increasing horror, and suddenly, a trickle of blood seeped from her mouth.

”Institute Master, are you alright?” Master Shi quickly rushed over.

The latter gently waved her hand and replied to Sikong Jing, ”I am not a supporter of anyone. I just detest people in the Holy Dragon Palace who fight for power and plot against each other...”

Having said that, the elderly Institute Master emitted an aura of integrity.

Sikong Jing also took a long breath, having successfully gained an opponent of Lei Hongteng.

With Huo Yanmei’s support, his position in the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace was no longer precarious.

He had refrained from revealing his name because he did not know who belonged to Lei Hongteng, and one misstep could have him captured to Thunder Dragon Mountain.

Now, he had a backer in the Holy Dragon Palace.

Suddenly, Huo Yanmei’s gaze turned to the distance, and then she said, ”Someone is coming. It’s Liu Shan. Come inside quickly.”

At these words, a cold light flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes, and without a word, he dashed into the courtyard.

The so-called Liu Shan was undoubtedly Vice Master Liu.

Master Shi also hurried into the courtyard, and soon the three of them reached the hall.

Inside was full of the scent of medicine, obviously used by Huo Yanmei for treating her injuries.

At that moment, Huo Yanmei looked at Sikong Jing and said, ”I will verify the truth of what you have said immediately.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than a sinister male voice came from outside, ”Institute Master, I have urgent news to report.”

Huo Yanmei opened her eyes, and then deliberately made a sound of spitting blood, just as Sikong Jing had when he requested an audience. She then asked with a hoarse voice, ”What is it?”

”Vice Palace Master Qin Heng is critically injured and unconscious, and Palace Master Shen has not returned. The Holy Dragon Palace can’t be without a leader for a day.”

Liu Shan’s voice immediately came from outside, adding, ”Now all the institute elders are discussing whether to elect a new Vice Palace Master. I came to ask for your opinion.”

At that, Huo Yanmei’s eyes flashed coldly, and after a pause, she asked, ”Then who do you think could be the new Vice Palace Master?”

Suddenly, Master Shi also stared at Sikong Jing.

The upcoming response from Vice Master Liu Shan would verify the truth of Sikong Jing’s words.

Two breaths later, Liu Shan’s voice came through, ”According to the majority of the elders, Master Lei from Thunder Dragon Mountain is strong and courageous, and a wise man. He is considered the most suitable candidate.”

At this statement, there was dead silence inside the courtyard, and Master Shi’s heart pounded tumultuously.

This completely confirmed that Lei Hongteng was indeed vying for the position of Vice Palace Master.

Master Shi quickly looked at Huo Yanmei, wondering what the Institute Master’s response would be.

Suddenly, Huo Yanmei said bluntly, ”I oppose. Lei Hongteng’s temperament is too fierce. He is not suitable to be the Vice Palace Master of the Holy Dragon Palace.”

At the moment her voice carried out, it was eerily silent outside; Liu Shan seemed to have fallen silent.

Several breaths later, Liu Shan’s voice abruptly rose, ”Institute Master, I’m afraid your opposition won’t matter. The majority of the elders in the Holy Dragon Palace already support Master Lei, including me!”

After speaking, a rumbling aura from outside surged in...

Huo Yanmei’s eyes flared with killing intent as she slowly asked, ”Liu Shan, what are you trying to do?”
