Chapter 375: Chapter 375: 66th Army, A New Crisis

”And you?”

Having thought of this, Sikong Jing looked at Xia Dalian and asked, curious as to why she was still in 66th Town.

Puffing out her chest, Xia Dalian responded, ”Today is my duty day for patrolling the 66th Town, and I’ve already become a Black-armored Soldier a month ago. My Martial Arts Talent isn’t that weak.”

After speaking, she intentionally released her True Qi, and it turned out she had already reached the Martial Scripture Realm of the Innate Second Realm!

”If that’s the case, then I myself...”

Sikong Jing congratulated her off-handedly, and then he did not plan to disturb Xia Dalian’s duty.

But before he could finish speaking, she forcefully interrupted, ”I’ll go with you. Taking a leave with you around definitely won’t be a problem.”

To this, Sikong Jing naturally did not refuse.

And so, the two mounted the Black Steed and galloped towards the direction of the 66th Army’s castle.

On the way, Xia Dalian’s eyes shone with sharp light.

”Sikong Jing must be going to meet the Beigong Commander. I wonder if he will officially join the Long Night Black Burning Army. With a Spirit Martial Root, he has a terrifying human-shaped monster as his trump card; what kind of treatment will he get?”

The reason for her following was, of course, Xia Dalian’s curiosity.

...

The 66th Castle, a presence that was several times larger than the 99th Castle.

At this moment, the castle was steeped in solemnity, with Ning Jingjing’s voice continuously rising. She was conferring the status of official Black-armored Soldier to people like Su Zhenglong, accompanied by unending applause.

However, no one noticed that, ten kilometers outside the 66th Castle in the forest, there were faint breaths.

Among them, a strange laugh quietly emerged.

”Hehe, Ning Jingjing would never dream that our 99th Army would suddenly attack her 66th Army, let alone expect that we would coordinate an inside-outside attack with the people from the 66th Castle.”

A second voice followed, ”Damn it, Ning Jingjing caused us to fall back to the 99th Army, becoming a half-reserve force that is a laughing stock. After enduring for a month, we can finally take action.”

Then, a third voice joined in, ”The esteemed 66th Army defeated by the 99th Army, Ning Jingjing will never be able to lift her head again.”

The men kept discussing, their eyes full of excitement.

The people ambushing in the forest were originally from the 98th Army, but because Ning Jingjing had risen to the 66th Army, all the following armies had to move back, and as a result, the 98th Army unfortunately became the 99th Army.

They were reduced from forty thousand Black-armored Soldiers to thirty thousand.

Turned into a half-reserve force that the whole army looked down upon, they were seething with resentment.

Originally, everyone in the Long Night Black Burning Army thought that Ning Jingjing wouldn’t last long as General of the 66th Army, and that General Fu Mian would surely not let her off.

But damn it, just when Ning Jingjing had settled into the 66th Army a month ago, General Fu Mian died.

Torn to pieces directly by a human-shaped monster from the Wangyou Sect...

At that time, it was one curse after another about Ning Jingjing’s luck being too good.

What’s more, afterwards, the Beigong Commander began purging the Long Night Black Burning Army, eliminating some of Yan Shun’s remnants, causing panic among the Long Night Black Burning Army until it calmed down a month later to this day.

And today, with the support of a certain person, they from the 99th Army are ready to deliver an unforgettable blow to Ning Jingjing.

The 66th Army being broken by the 99th Army will be unprecedented and unimaginable.”

”General Fei, when do we start the action?”

The hidden soldiers in the forest looked towards the leading man, who was none other than the General of the 99th Army, General Fei.

”Be patient, as soon as the people inside the 66th Castle signal us, we’ll act immediately,” General Fei said with a slight tug at the corner of his mouth.

The person supporting them was right inside the 66th Castle, currently holding the position of... Ning Jingjing’s staff officer.

Everyone responded and waited quietly.

However, at that moment, a figure suddenly appeared and reported, ”General Fei, two Black Steeds are rushing here from the direction of the 66th Town. Should we take them down?”

Upon hearing this, General Fei bellowed, ”Don’t be rash—hide yourselves. If we haven’t been spotted, leave them be.”

And so, the two Black Steeds, with loud clanking of iron hooves, strode powerfully through the path in the middle of the woods.

The knights atop the Black Steeds were none other than Sikong Jing and Xia Die Lian.

Suddenly, the latter exclaimed, ”Doesn’t the surroundings feel a bit eerie?”

Upon these words, those hidden in the woods felt a chill go down their spines, as a barely concealed killing intent began to seep out.

They watched Sikong Jing intently; this man wasn’t wearing Black Armor, and his identity was unknown to them.

Sikong Jing smiled and replied, ”You’re truly worthy of being Princess Die Lian of the Xia Country, to have noticed so quickly...”

”There are roughly 30,000 people around us. If I’m not mistaken, they should be from the New 99th Legion.”

As these words fell, those hidden in the woods trembled violently, each of them thinking: How did he know?

If Xia Die Lian was not taken out of the Canglong Small Domain, she would have grown up to be the female Marshal of Xia Country—her sense for the battlefield was not something ordinary people could match. Yet, even she was astounded by Sikong Jing’s words.

Sikong Jing, how did he manage to discern there were 30,000 people around them and even guess that it was the New 99th Legion?

”The 99th Legion? What are they planning?” Xia Die Lian hastily inquired.

Sikong Jing’s gaze leveled at the distant 66th Castle before replying, ”The New 99th Legion is just my guess based on the number of people; I can’t be 100% certain. However, if they’re hiding in the woods, of course, it’s to ambush our 66th Army.”

Jolted, Xia Die Lian pressed further, ”Have they gone mad? They think 30,000 people alone can attack the 66th Army?”

After she spoke, she saw Sikong Jing give her a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.

Her body shook again, and after a moment of contemplation, Xia Die Lian said, ”No, that’s not right. If it’s only 30,000 people, then they intend to strike General Ning off guard with an inside-out attack, meaning... the mastermind is inside the castle of the 66th Army.”

Those in the woods exchanged glances, wondering how they had guessed correctly again.

A chill rolled over each of them.

At that time, Sikong Jing asked with a smile, ”I’m not familiar with the 66th Army. Who do you think is most likely the mastermind?”

Suddenly, Xia Die Lian furrowed her brows, unable to think of any suspect for the time being.

Seeing her like this, Sikong Jing reminded her, ”General Ning has acquired 120,000 new Black-armored Soldiers since the death of Fu Mian. How have they behaved, especially the new Deputy Generals who have joined?”

In light of this, Xia Die Lian pondered once more and finally said, ”No, there hasn’t been. Over the past month, the 120,000 new Black-armored Soldiers have been more obedient than expected. There have never been any instances of dissent against General Ning. The 66th Army has been thriving.”

Raising an eyebrow, Sikong Jing smiled again.

”Then this is interesting,” he said.

”Resistance and trouble-making during this period would be normal.”

”If there isn’t a hint of dissent, then it only means that these 120,000 are acting as one. And this entity would have but one leader—one capable of unifying all 120,000 to act in disguise.”

”Now, who do you think it could be?”

With his analysis complete, Sikong Jing turned to look at Xia Die Lian again.
