Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1373: Chapter 1163: The Arrogant Manks

The plot developed so brilliantly that even Shaer did not anticipate that her sudden idea of secretly opposing Amanata would trigger such a chain reaction. Therefore, she quickly ended her attack on the Sun Peacock and turned her attention to the giant screen.

The shadows of black whips across the sky vanished without a trace, leaving only a Golden Peacock with disheveled feathers and a bare tail, lying lifelessly on the ground.

Hill silently observed his chaotic little garden and sighed softly. Fortunately, the appearance of Celene and Lansendel had irradiated the plants with the divine power of dawn and moon, making even the shadows underfoot seem resilient. Although they were all askew, they survived the terrible assault.

As for those tables and chairs, if they’re broken, they’re broken, it’s not a big deal.

Not bad. Although it looks bleak, it’s not really a total loss.

List poked his head into Hill’s study. Only after seeing Hill nod slightly did he hurriedly command the puppets to tidy up the garden.

On the other side of the giant screen… there was a sudden commotion among the archmages from Harua: perhaps due to Lady Manks’ displayed familiarity with the Anmur Archmages, indicating a very long partnership.

Yet who didn’t know that the young Miss Manks was sent to Deepwater City by the Harua Royal Family?

The one who schemes against others hates most to realize all their calculations were part of someone else’s plan.

The Harua Archmages could no longer maintain that calm expression of ‘everything is under control’.

An old mage, wearing a deep blue mage robe and a blue mage hat, flew out from the White Sailed Ship: “Who… are you really?

Since you are collaborating with the Twin Towers, why were you born in Harua?

Was it just to make us anger our allies?”

Manks held a small fan and laughed coyly, “Who told Anmur there aren’t that many prophecy mages around? Twenty or so… How many are left now?

Should we say, is there only one left… Safras’ Chosen?

Chosen ones are indeed quite useful on Toril sometimes!

Natalyah of Harua, ah no, it should be the former, Archmage Zarasom.

Right, is the current one… the archmage who inexplicably ascended the throne without knowing prophecy, still alive?”

Hill blinked. Zarasom, wasn’t he blown up along with the prophecy mages preparing to transfer Harua’s capital to another plane, engulfed by the Magicplague backlash within the Palace of Harua?

If only he survived… he would be Safras’ ally in Harua, right?

This old guy who survived from Naish’s era mixing with Safras seems quite normal… What the Harua Archmages wanted was initially a neutral, best left to nothing but appeasing the Weave, Goddess of Magic.

He might not think Safras’ idea of controlling the Goddess of Magic could succeed, but he certainly knows: such a Goddess might just suit their interests… Safras might not control a puppet of the Goddess of Magic, yet the Weave can.

And the Weave doesn’t care whether those who use its network are good or evil, right or wrong.

Manks laughed recklessly, “Ah, stop mentioning allies.

From the day Black Eye died, haven’t the Northern Seven Sisters been a thorn in Harua’s eye?

As long as they’re around, Harua will never become the center of the Weave.

Though Black Eye died completely, even if Midnight disliked Elaströ and the others, she couldn’t strip them of their Chosen status for the sake of her soul fused with the Weave.

Besides, Elaströ and the others are too independent, with the Seven Sisters using Shadow Valley as a base, pulling Elminster into their faction, firmly occupying the west of the Ferun Great Land, even leading Kelben, the only hope of Harua, to marry Laila.

Heh~

You scared the always-suspicious Kelben so much that he’d rather pretend to be his own grandson than accept your recruitment.

As long as they’re around, the anchor point of the Weave can only be in the Sword Bay area.

So… what’s your accusation against me?

Upon seeing me, didn’t you all align with me?

This Manks who looks just like Midnight is such a good excuse~

With Kelben dead, the Seven Sisters are now wandering in confusion outside, searching for the Goddess of Magic lost to whereabouts unknown. On the Ferun Great Land, only Harua remains the strongest.

Once Dandell breaks through Toril’s blockade and the Weave teeters on the brink, as long as you genuinely see yourselves as the Weave’s anchor point, not wishing for true destruction, the Weave will surely accept your allegiance… even with Mistra standing at the center of the Weave, she’ll have to accept it, right?

But that’s contingent on Mistra being weak enough not to stabilize the Weave with her own power.

That’s why you cooperated with Safras.

Didn’t you guys know these female mages with shards of Mistra’s soul might be bait thrown out?

Of course, you knew.

Yet this sort of counter-scheme only works between equally matched opponents, right?

What kind of delusion did Safras feed you to make you think you could arm-wrestle with AO?

I’m really curious!”

Watching the Harua Archmages’ ever-changing expressions, Manks moved her fan away from her face, laughing with open mouth, “Don’t tell me, you just heard him make a big promise and ate yourselves to death.

If you were really that foolish… the lesser fiends made from your souls surely wouldn’t be able to advance, right?”

Zarasom showed no signs of anger, merely squinting his eyes slightly, his voice calm with an undercurrent of menace: “With Harua, you can only present yourself first, waiting for our choice.

But with Anmur, you command from behind.

Who truly fears whom, do we really need to spell it out?

If… the prophesized collapse of the Weave hadn’t unexpectedly come early, how could Harua have fallen to such a state?

This advance was also beyond your anticipation, wasn’t it?

That’s why you had no choice but to abandon hiding further and placed yourself into an infant’s body.

Ah… so you connected with Talos to let Visaron’s followers smuggle you into Harua?

See, your real allies can’t even accomplish the simple task of delivering a child into Harua.

What’s left to say?”

Manks laughed, “What’s the point of saying all this? Haven’t you and the Anmur Mages you despise ended up in the same place?

So, Safras, are you still planning to play your game of hide and seek over there?”

A deathly silence reigned on the White Sailed Ship as some Harua Archmages on the deck simply watched Manks’ wild laughter with expressionless faces.

“I see… let’s see how long you can hide.” Manks withdrew her laughter, speaking coldly.

She forcefully waved her gloved right hand, and a blue point of light, wrapped in black light, shot like a meteor toward the primordial storm swirling around the two massive iron gates.

With a loud bang, the storm dissipated immediately.

Only those two bare iron gates remained.

With her hair slowly turning from black to white, Manks seemed to have grown a little taller, and she turned back indifferently, shouting angrily, “What are you waiting for?”

The one who had been holding a beautiful pose, the bearer of Mistra’s soul, suddenly flew straight to the two gates like lightning, bursting into a dazzling blue firework.

“Ah…” Manks’ voice turned from crisp to hoarse, “It seems to be insufficient.

What, Zarasom, do you need me to call out names?

Could it be you’re reluctant to part with those few fragments?

Or do you want me to pull out those two spectators below… the uninvited guests?

I’m quite curious.

Just don’t know, which deities are in those two shards, one should be Shuni, and the other in the room with Heim, who could it be?

I really can’t guess.”
