Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1372: Chapter 1162: Manks, Who Disappoints Expectations

Celene shook her head: ”The Natural Divine System has always abstained from the Path of Destiny; their followers are only connected to nature, and they certainly don’t care whether humans exist or not.

When Dandell emerges, Sylvanas and his followers will definitely come, but before that... they absolutely won’t waste their divine power to do anything.

Since Marla isn’t dead yet, Sylvanas can afford to wait.”

”Shantia is simply a coward,” Shaer added indifferently, ”When something happens, she retracts and waits for others to solve it; that’s her usual method.

Ironically, she might be even more concerned about Marla’s safety.”

Celene turned to look at Shaer: ”Do you mean to say Shantia is using Marla?

She isn’t that....”

”Isn’t she?” Shaer sneered, interrupting her sister, ”After all, which poses a bigger threat to agriculture, those deranged druids or Marla’s followers?

If Marla weren’t so manically opposed to the agriculture of various races, who would worship and revere the Goddess of the Earth, who has no abilities other than farming?

Isn’t it just hoping her power could stop Marla’s unchecked followers from burning farmlands and butchering innocent farmers?”

”Shantia... isn’t that smart,” Celene thought for a moment, then slowly said.

”But after benefiting from Marla’s influence, she surely never genuinely intended to completely eliminate him!

Don’t speak to me of familial bonds; does allowing Marla to offend the world explain kinship?

Coron’s way of dealing with Villon can be understood... although he couldn’t kill his son, he limited Villon’s harm as much as possible.

If Rose hadn’t been so disgusting, Villon’s life wouldn’t have led to the current outcome.”

A thread of black light suddenly burst from the black cat sculpture in the fountain.

”Tsk, okay, got it, go shut up! Why the fuss?

Indeed, comparing Marla with Villon is an insult to Villon,” Shaer said coldly, ”Of course, Sylvanas also never stopped Marla.

But I can understand his reasoning... he also hates those mortals who cut down forests, turn the wilderness into farmland and towns.

But, as the neutral Father of the Forest, he can’t show his stance, so Marla... even though Marla loves killing druids who worship him, he still has no intention to act.

Exile, what kind of punishment is that?

But the same method, different reasons, which do you find more detestable?”

”Shantia indeed seems a bit pretentious,” Celene hesitated for a while, then sighed lightly, ”Could it be because our war caused her to lose too much... now I don’t quite like her either.

But I still believe that when she prays to me for light and warmth, she genuinely wants to revive the earth.”

”Perhaps the burden is too heavy for her to bear, so she wishes to bear nothing.” Lansendel suggested with a playful smile, estimating that once the Goddess of Agriculture is reborn, it surely won’t relate to him... in the original storyline, he agreed to help Shantia birth a Goddess of Agriculture, not just out of boredom.

It also partly stemmed from his severe injuries from impersonating Amanata, and intertwining with the Goddess of the Earth’s soul could speed up his recovery... Shantia undoubtedly paid more.

After all, she sacrificed one of her archdruids to save Marla, masquerading as Talos attacking the elf deity system, so denying her connection with Marla held no meaning anymore.

Mortals aren’t fools; they merely remain silent.

Therefore, to preserve her divine power, Shantia desperately needs a new Goddess of Agriculture to emerge... but only the two deities related to light and heat can achieve this.

Between Amanata and Lansendel, anyone with sense would choose Lansendel.

”What’s the use of discussing Shantia? She’s practically living as a deity of faith.

Why not guess how long until Heim emerges?” Lansendel said nonchalantly, prompting a light glance from Hill.

It’s uncertain whether Lansendel feels a particular camaraderie with the Undead Tribe, thinking perhaps these Teraxil visitors once saved him.

”Surely, we have to wait until Dandell really breaks free, no?” Celene quickly said, ”Though Cyric might not be as skilled as Shuni, Laila’s body should have enough experience.”

”Ah... so this is... supposedly how a pure girl always tries to show she’s experienced, worldly?” Shaer tilted her head, laughing, ”Want to bet?”

Lansendel, slightly confused, asked, ”Do you have experience? So soon?”

Hill silently closed his eyes, sidestepped to the fountain beside him, clutching his beloved Crystal Flower tightly before the earth would soon quake wildly.

Sometimes, he truly wondered whether Lansendel had ever been in love, whether he and Tai Ji had only a spiritual connection, not a true intimate bond... never delve too deeply into women’s secrets!

What does this topic have to do with him!

Failing to remain silent at necessary times, such men will eventually get dumped!

If Tai Ji hadn’t died early, Lansendel’s romance would surely have turned from a tragic ending to a reality of separation!

Damn! Does the Lord of Dawn think his castle is an eyesore, intending to crush it before the world’s end?

When the Lord of Agleya fell into chaos, the Chult Peninsula presented a scene of harmony.

The grown-up Miss Manks, although still could only be described as elegant and lovely, had at least a pleasant demeanor and a good figure.

Moreover, her dress, which always seemed discordant, was quite fitting at the moment, changing from a loose robe to a tight short skirt.

However, the Archmages of Harua, upon seeing her appearance, all lowered their heads to avoid her, having no desire to converse.

They probably couldn’t stand that face identical to Midnight Mistrala.

”Can’t you change your face?” the Female Mage from the Twin Towers also found it unbearable, ”We may not like the current Mystra, but we do offer her a couple of praises when using the Weave.

Looking at that face, doing such a thing... it’s a bit too stimulating.”

”But I, I just look like this~” Manks opened the small silk fan in her hand, hiding it in front of her red lips, smiling gently, ”Although Lady Midnight may not admit it, the flesh and blood this body uses indeed belong to her~

During the Years of Turmoil, she suffered numerous heavy injuries, losses of arms and legs were normal.

Spells made her reborn with broken arms but didn’t give her enough intelligence to retrieve the lost limbs~

Such a foolish child, isn’t she?”

She put down her fan, looking sharply at the Female Mage: ”I really dislike lying!

I am indeed a Manks~ at least my body is.”

The face of the Female Mage from the Twin Towers suddenly turned pale... The strength of someone who could prepare for the present during the Years of Turmoil is imaginable.

It’s worth knowing that before the conclusion came out, even Midnight herself didn’t think she had a chance of becoming Mystra.

She was a little unclear about who on earth the Twin Towers had been collaborating with for such a long time... There are differences even among the Dukes of Demons!

Could it be some Grand Duke of Hell?

”With such a me, what are you dissatisfied with?” Manks asked with a smile, ”Is the whereabouts of Imasca’s Fifth Secret Artifact false?

Of course, I really didn’t expect that in your own lair, you would allow Shaer’s Chosen to enter at will and even blatantly steal a Divine Artifact. Ah... what I find most incomprehensible is that she was able to leave without a scratch.

Otherwise, on Snowfall Island, with the resonant power of several artifacts, at the very least... you could have retained the Chromatic Dragon Queen and the Platinum Dragon King.

They are dragons too! The Dragon Ball’s power, magnified by the Artifact, could completely control them for a short time... In that case, at least occupying the Sword Bay area wouldn’t be a problem, right?

Even if the two dragons couldn’t withstand the combined force of Shaer and Celene, the other Ancient Giant Dragons you controlled would be enough!

Don’t mention the Lord of Agleya and those Teraxil Elves who call themselves the Undead Tribe.

The Undead Tribe’s strength is insufficient to counter so many Ancient Dragons.

And that Lord of Agleya... How easy it is to deal with the Kind Alignment! You just need to send the controlled Metal Dragons to that city... someone who is closely connected to the Little Golden Dragon couldn’t possibly strike them down.

As long as you secure the Sword Bay area! A foreign mage who doesn’t want to be constrained by Toril, could he compete with you for territory?

Those Undead Tribes hadn’t intended to occupy even Anmur or Kalinsan!

Look at yourselves, such a miserable defeated dog!

Such a good plan, and you completed it in such a scattered manner.

Tsk~

Utterly foolish beyond belief!”

”Who would have thought Shaer would suddenly transform into this form?” the Female Mage from Anmur said viciously through gritted teeth, ”She has always been a cold observer, whenever she truly did something... wasn’t it always to aid people like us who wish to harm Toril?”

”Ha~” Manks shook her head with a sneer, ”If you hide well enough, why rely on others’ stances?

Doing poorly yourself, yet despising the enemy’s strength... How could I cooperate with fools like you!

Don’t you think so, Monica Strangeant Salem?”

Hill looked quizzically at the Female Mage, married to the Salem Family’s Strangeant?

How is that even possible?

Strangeant is royalty!

Then he quickly realized why the Salem Family easily suppressed the domestic resistance forces after unifying Anmur... like those sorcerers and shadow thieves.

It seems this lady sold her family for a good price... not only turning her identity into Salem but directly taking over, or rather continuing to manage, Anmur’s strongest Magic Tower: the Twin Towers.

If it were elsewhere, a former Royal Family Princess certainly wouldn’t have been given such an important responsibility... But in Anmur, it’s understandable.

Which princess would be grateful and loyal to her own family?
