Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1357: Chapter 1147: William’s Return Gift

After a few days of consideration, William agreed to the hints from Sel... of course, he similarly chose to respond indirectly.

It remains to be seen whether Sazzastan can figure it out by himself.

In any case, whether publicly or privately, the righteous and brave Undead Tribe will absolutely never cooperate with the evil Undead Lich.

As for the occasional ’coincidence’ due to opportune timing, well, heaven knows, earth knows... outsiders have no idea.

William made no unnecessary movements, only allowing the Last-Era Clan Leader who had returned to Yinbutu with great effort, to furiously announce a declaration of hostility: because of this sudden attack, they will be at odds with the Border Kingdom, and no one can stop their retaliation.

And over at the strait, the intervention was timely, severing the assistance hand from the Mage Fortress trying to aid the Anmur Sorcerer, although not intending to fight for the Last-Era, they still positioned their massive ships along the coast of the Border Kingdom.

Their lack of assistance to the Last-Era against those on the shore does not mean they can’t use Alignment Detection on everyone going to sea, shouting phrases like ’For Justice’, ’For the Dawn’ while eliminating red names.

Anyway, whether it’s Tyr or Lansendel, they won’t mind the borrowed titles.

If before, when they blocked that narrow waterway, the Pirate Kings and bandit leaders of the Border Kingdoms only felt depressed, now... they feel they have no escape.

After all, both Laparia and Shaya on either side, upon discovering them, will opt to hang them... this is national hatred and family resentment, unlike any other place.

The more Great Nobility merchant fleets in favor with Harua, the more gleefully they hijacked.

Laparia targeted Harua back in the day, so such actions are understandable, but even the indifferent Shaya is subject to the same treatment. One can only say, those Naice Mages falling from the sky have an overwhelming sense of caution, eager to completely suppress the neighboring countries into submission.

Yet Harua has indeed instructed the bandits of the Border Kingdom to oppress these two countries within their borders, making it difficult for both the nation and the Nobles to earn much money, but they are not so weak as to be unable to guard their borders.

Otherwise, Harua wouldn’t be slowly wearing them down like this with a dull knife-cutting approach.

All major forces within the Border Kingdom can only direct their gaze towards their true master... the Archmages of Harua.

These once Archmages of the Naicer Empire do not care who they oppose, as long as their magic ships and aerial fortresses can suppress any defiance... the memory of those years when cannons roared remains unforgettable to all who witnessed it.

But the Undead Tribe is not like Laparia and Shaya, defeated once and unable to organize a nationwide attack again.

It’s true, Harua’s magic ships are superior to those massive magical warships of the Undead Tribe... but it’s not a matter of life and death, who would be willing to use them?

Without the abundant energy of the Naice period, each use is a heart-piercing anguish!

If success were certain, it might be worth deploying... like the battle that defeated the invading neighbor Laparia, leaving them in perpetual decline.

But against the Undead Tribe—who doesn’t know that even if they suffer total destruction, it’s merely a waste of time on the journey?

These strange Elves, wealthy enough to make Archmages envious, even if their ships are wrecked and crews perish, they would simply shrug it off, laugh, and try again.

Harua wouldn’t dare to use its meager resources to desperately fight against such an Undead Tribe.

Can’t you see those space stations placed atop the Elves’ heads are already gathering mold?

Now, except for the one owned by the Royal Fleet, other Elf forces can only watch their space stations gradually overrun by creatures from the Stellar Realm... they know where they are, but they can’t operate them.

Toril no longer possesses the immensely powerful energy of the Mithril Energy Core period.

The Weave has consolidated a lot of the dispersed energy.

Many Arcanists resent Mystra and her Weave, is it really because the appearance of numerous Weave Mages has devalued the worth of Mages?

Of course not.

What they resent is the Primordial Power, no longer available for personal use as they wish.

But who doesn’t understand that this is the will of AO?

Who can defy him?

So they can only direct their resentment at the Goddess of Magic... those Archmages who have lived long enough know, after the shameful death of Black Eye, Mystra is just a title.

People, no matter how capable, tend to bully the weak and fear the strong... hatred is only directed at those within reach.

Those beyond reach are seen as fate.

Harua is instantaneously embarrassed.

The Undead Tribe’s declaration is evidently aimed directly at them.

It’s just that they’ve allowed Harua a little dignity, as long as they don’t publicly voice support for the Border Kingdom.

Yet, how could they possibly abandon such useful henchmen?

If the Undead Tribe does clean out these bandits, wouldn’t they have to find new ways to suppress those two neighboring countries?

The Archmages of Harua can only attempt to contact those Archmages with whom they have a good relationship... especially those Mistrala Electors.

Hoping they can help liaise with the leaders of the Undead Tribe.

In fact, Harua also thought about eradicating them completely: the real reason the Undead Tribe is such a hassle is due to those temples.

But all their eager schemes ended when the Lord of Agleya, standing behind the Undead Tribe, obliterated Gewoosh’s incarnation.

These Archmages of Toril have always been proud; although Hill’s actions had made them aware of his strength, they, being mostly over level 40 Archmages, didn’t believe they couldn’t achieve the same.

They especially wouldn’t consider the Lord of Agleya as unrivaled.

Godslaying has never been about whether it’s possible... it requires not only courage but also the confidence not to face retribution.

Strength has never been the most important thing.

The moment the lord of Agleya appeared, there stood more than one strong divine power behind him, and he carried with him an external Goddess of the Sea... not many mages were willing to deal with him, and not just because he came from the Otherworld.

From the beginning, in the eyes of Toril mages, this powerful Nature Mage was not one of them.

But Gewoosh was different.

This had nothing to do with any of Lord of Agleya’s backers... The Elf Deity System didn’t care about offending Gewoosh either!

But can they kill the Chief Orc God?

Even if it’s just the incarnation.

The scornful words spread by the followers of Shaer in the past echoed again in the ears of many Harua mages at that moment... ’During the Magicplague, Lord Hill was the most powerful person on the land.’

’The Lord of Agleya could intervene when the Lady of the Night and the Maiden of the Moon were fighting!’

’Even after Lansendel was plucked of his tail feathers, he didn’t fall out with Lord Hill~’

So even after receiving refusal letters from various Magic Towers across Ferun Great Land, these Archmages could only resign themselves... in the end, they just sent a large number of weapons and strange objects to those pirate and bandit leaders, asking them to fight for their own lives.

They even provided a large number of Purified Water Beads and Nutrition Beads... implying to those folks, if it doesn’t work out, just hide in the desert!

The Undead Tribe doesn’t seem that interested in the desert; hasn’t the Karin Desert always remained unchanged?

When Lynn came to gossip with Hill, his eyes were always rolling, and he couldn’t comprehend why Harua capitulated so quickly... what use was it to send weapons to those thieves?

It’s not like they were some world-shaking divine artifacts.

Do thieves lack weapons? They lack people to wield those weapons!

An average level 16 Undead Tribe, tens of thousands absolutely can sweep the Border Kingdom... an 8th-level Professional can be a pirate captain, what fight can they put up?

Moreover, it’s rumored that many of Harua’s Magic Towers have even recalled their students from over there.

What’s the point of this!

They capitulated so straightforwardly, why did they provoke the Undead Tribe in the first place?

It can’t be just because Hill killed a Gewoosh that they quickly knelt down?

Where is the logic?

Hill thought for a moment and felt that Harua really resembled a certain country in his own world... most of Toril’s airships and White Sail bandits came from that country.

Of course, they call themselves aerial adventurers, and many claim to eliminate evil and uphold good... but the result of executing justice is, the coveted good thing ends up on their ship.

So it’s no surprise that they’d straightforwardly abandon the Border Kingdom.

”Don’t bother with what’s happening on Harua’s side.” Hill thought for a moment before saying, ”The Undead Tribe must have asked Edna, who is still floating above Anmur, before starting the war.”

”Ah~ right! Those Quel Senta ladies, the remaining few went to Harua!” Lynn suddenly recalled, ”What about the other few who were taken?”

”Abert is still battling with the Twin Towers.” Hill shook his head, ”She is intent on tormenting that group of people; it will probably be a while before there’s a result.

As for the one who left with the followers of Cyric, seems to have gone to Tindor with Manks.”

”The neighboring country of the Chult Peninsula?” Lynn asked dumbfounded, ”Why does it seem like Cyric hates Amanata more?”

This seems to fear the sun-swallowing serpent called Dandell won’t wake up!

”If he really believes Mystra is among those girls, this method is indeed vicious, very much with the flair of the Dark Sun.” Hill said blandly, ”Sacrificing Mystra to awaken the doomsday serpent, although it seems far-fetched, indeed has a chance of success.”

The two doors sealing that serpent were formed using Primordial Power, very much in line with Mystra’s attributes.

”That crocodile seems to have gone there too.” Lynn said softly.

One-tenth of Chult’s residents are Lizardfolk... although it’s somewhat incredulous, many Lizardfolk are willing to believe in the Lord of Crocodiles.

”Tsk~” Hill marveled incredulously, ”Is AO planning to extinguish the world twice with one Path of Destiny?”

”We have to thoroughly check the defensive magic array of Agleya.” Lynn said with concern.
