Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1360: Chapter 1150: Shaer’s New Chosen

Shaer’s words sound simple, yet they are filled with deadly intent... If Utao dies, regardless of whether Dandell emerges or not, the Chult Peninsula is bound to be blown to smithereens.

Heim was granted the duty of guarding Toril by AO, and he has always taken pride in his resolute attitude... So he absolutely wouldn’t dare lay a finger on Utao.

At most, he would withstand the pressure from that Tyrannosaurus and save the group of oblivious believers.

Therefore, once the Chult war truly breaks out, Heim would either lose his life or abandon the image he created for himself of daring to do anything for his followers... in short, disgraceful.

Chult and Maztika are similar in many aspects... both have a primitive deity considered a singular belief.

But Utao, who stood forth and voluntarily took on the duty of sentinel to monitor the movements of the ’Dark Night Serpent’ Dandell, very straightforwardly exchanged this duty for control over the Chult Peninsula.

This former Wild God is wholeheartedly devoted to building his territory. When he returned to Heaven, he even merged part of his essence into the land of Chult, integrating it into its soil minerals, rivers, streams, along with the life of vegetation and animals, so as not to become distant from his people.

To put it simply, Utao has essentially become one with the Chult Peninsula... The Dinosaur God is practically performing the tasks of the Goddess of the Earth on the Chult Peninsula.

However, Shantia would never take such a huge risk to integrate her essence into Toril... No matter how strong the Divine Power, it means nothing without a life to enjoy it.

These fragments of Utao ultimately formed countless inferior nature spirits, making Chult an impenetrable area for outsiders... As for the port cities built by Anmur in the coastal regions, the God of Chult, who always cared more for his people in the jungle, wasn’t very concerned.

As long as those guys still understand the power of the Chult jungle, Utao actually quite welcomes these so-called ’colonists’ bringing external information and materials to his people.

The Dinosaur God doesn’t find that kind of economic colonization meaningful; his power is sufficient to ensure the integrity of Chult.

And before Dandell truly emerges, no one among the Toril Gods would bother him... Truly breaking the world, then what would be the point of their struggles?

If it weren’t for Utao’s moment of negligence creating his dark side Aishdo, followed by the rapid and decisive consumption of Aishdo, thus granting Shaer her own divine authority in Chult, Utao wouldn’t have any troubles at all.

After all, when he divides his essence, he can’t intentionally leave the evil side intact, right?

Ultimately, Shaer exploited the loophole, leaving Utao helplessly resigned to his fate.

Anyway, whatever tricks Shaer plays, the goal is mostly to monitor the movements beneath the Gate of Flames — better than Aishdo perpetually deceiving Utao’s followers to attack coastal cities.

After all, living in the jungle is difficult, and the number of mortals in Chult isn’t many, unable to cope with that madman... Yet, he can’t kill his own shadow.

Thus, the Chult Peninsula has maintained a peculiar peace.

Unfortunately, this time, such peace can’t be maintained any longer.

Various visitors appeared in Chult, most of whom cared little about whether the Sun would continue to exist or if Toril would collapse.

Hill glanced towards Shaer with some curiosity, ”Honorable Lady of Darkness, will Chult really erupt over there?”

”Guess why I, eager to annihilate the world, have never tried to open those two doors?” Shaer slightly reclined on the lounger, smiling at Hill, ”Surely it’s not because I suddenly had a pang of conscience, thinking the world can’t be without the Sun?”

Hill said with realization, ”The Primordial Power that sealed that door comes from...”

”From our great God Above Gods~” Celene chuckled and filled in, ”How could the old man truly rely solely on the combined might of Toril Gods?

The cooperation between Toril Gods is nothing but a joke, right?

They all held back a hand, and when the old man went to patch the loopholes, he couldn’t help but curse a few times, haha~”

Hill awkwardly smiled, completely unwilling to glance towards the Maiden of the Moon’s direction... Such betrayal of one’s own father, never once stopped except for nearly exposing AO’s secret, what did the God Above Gods of Toril experience to indulge this rebellious daughter?

”So he opens as he wishes, closes as he pleases,” Shaer added expressionlessly, ”Sebek acted normally in the past, considering Chult’s crocodiles and lizards as potential followers.

Cyric and the Harua Archmage Association are all taking Mystra’s reincarnation to Chult... Perhaps one intends to throw Mystra into Flame Mountain, relying on that primordial flame to burn her to ashes, wishing AO to select a new Goddess of Magic... not Midnight, nor her soul shards would suffice.

The other is probably pursuing the legendary Primordial Power that can make mortals ascend to deities, right?

Toril people always enjoy exaggerating treasures countless times over.

The Primordial Power sealing that Gate of Flames indeed allows mortals within to ascend several levels, but... to become gods?

Those who believe that are likely the group of madmen nearing death, trapped in delusions.

As for why they don’t transform into Liches... Ha~ Do you guess why Shade Soul City has been stuck in the Shadow Realm for so many years, unable to come out?

Even though Harua long found a foothold, equipped with sufficient locators to detect the Floating City collapsed into the Shadow Realm.

Still, in the end, in Shade Soul City, Low-rank Mages turned into Shadow Souls unable to leave the city to save themselves from the Shadow Wraiths, while Archmages preserved their identity through transformation into Liches... unexpectedly not receiving a signal from Toril... it’s not that they didn’t try jumping out of the shadow, it’s a pity the energy from the Mithril Energy Core is not quite useful in the Shadow Realm.

Now... it’s the turn of those Archmages from Harua who want to become liches to fall into an awkward situation.

Sel has the most liches, but they are enemies, and materials from there absolutely cannot be used.

Materials from the Shadow Realm are available, but some of it comes from Mask... which inevitably raises issues.

Another part comes from Shade Soul City... if the buyers are Haruans, even if these Princes of the Shadow Souls follow the rules, there will definitely be tampering involved.

Revenge, huh~ no one would think they are in the wrong.”

So, when life reaches its limit, does the only path left for Haruan Archmages become that of the deities?

Hill couldn’t help but twitch his mouth: although Toril’s debts are paid slowly, it seems they still must be paid.

It’s nice to desire, but unfortunately, this isn’t about choosing the wrong path... it’s about trying to take a shortcut, only to end up directly in a nuclear bomb zone that’s about to detonate.

Hill glanced once more at the Three Gods eagerly watching the giant screen, somewhat confusedly asking: ”The Undead Tribe can’t go to Chult, can they?

I’ve noticed Edna’s cloud ship has always been in Kalinsan!”

Shaer calmly glanced at him: ”I agreed with William to give him a panoramic view.”

So, Aishdo... has now become a cameraman?

Shaer also has to pretend to be unable to share the vision with that face and come here to watch with others... truly knows how to play~

For some reason, Hill suddenly felt a surge of acidity from his stomach, making him unable to resist wanting to say something.

Fortunately, there was still Celene.

”Eh?” The Maiden of the Moon tilted her head, full of curiosity, her actions cute, ”Then why are you here? Isn’t Aishdo you?”

Shaer gave her sister a disdainful glance: ”Living tens of thousands of years without a lover, not even a significant other, have you lost even your female intuition?”

Celene was stunned: ”Weren’t you the same... just starting? How were you different from me before?”

”Oh?” Shaer suddenly laughed, ”But you still don’t have one~ and probably never will. You go on being forever the pure maiden!

Look at your believers, so confident about your future! Maiden of the Moon.”

Hill suddenly spoke up: ”Edna has made a move; her cloud ship is flying towards Kalinsan.

The Undead Tribe also seems to be sailing to Kalinsan... Karin Harbor is still in the hands of the Amanata believers, right?”

”They won’t go to Karin Harbor. They should be waiting in the strait between Belurian Fortress of Chult’s Spire City and the Karin Desert to see the outcome.” Shaer turned her head, speaking calmly, ”Although the main force might land in the Karin Desert, if those divine beasts and thieves have any sense, they’ll hide and wait for them to leave.”

”Isn’t the Smoke Element Lord there as well?” Lansendel asked in confusion, ”He shouldn’t need to be afraid of the Undead Tribe, right?”

”Hydra is on their command ship.”

”What do you intend to do?” Celene suddenly sat up.

”If Dandell doesn’t come out, then Aishdo is still useful.” Shaer replied softly, ”But if he comes out... I don’t think Utao can defeat that Dark Night Serpent.

If Utao is devoured, what’s the use of his shadow?

Do I lack spells to control people?

If he can regain demigod level power in Candlekeep, I can still barely use him, but... if Candlekeep is destroyed before that, it indicates that it’s his fate.

But on the side of Chult, it’s all jungles and swamps... without Utao, wouldn’t those faithless races be just right for Hydra?

Hydra looks more like the master of swamps and jungles compared to dinosaurs.”

”Oh?” Celene said sensitively, ”Wasn’t Hydra always intended as the underground world leader for the northern Sword Bay area?”

”In other places, it wouldn’t matter, but north of Deepwater City... I probably wouldn’t exist only in the underground world.” Shaer’s lips gently parted, her tone calm yet determined, ”So, a Chosen who can appear both above and below ground is needed.”

Hill gently gazed southward.

Shaer then softly laughed, ”You see, my other three Chosen indeed find it difficult to communicate with the outside world... either terrifying in appearance or with countless enemies.

But now, there’s one who gets along with everyone, so why not use them?”
