Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1356: Chapter 1146: A Gesture of Goodwill from Sel

After Hill quickly built that diamond-shaped research center, Agleya returned to a seemingly calm life.

Although there were always a large number of mages rushing from all over the Ferun Great Land... this time, even Silvermoon City no longer remained silent, sitting on their boats, silently navigating through the winding waterways towards the sea, heading for Agleya City.

The Silvermoon City authorities, who usually like to meddle, simultaneously maintained silence... not even knowing whether to be relieved that Kelben, who always put Elaströ in a difficult position, was already dead.

For the Archmages, politics and diplomacy could be completely discarded at this moment, as long as they thought... if Mystra and Azuth hadn’t reacted quickly, really allowing Talos impersonated by Gewoosh to reach into the realm of magic through the presence of the Lich God, their future would be unimaginable.

Facing the sorcerers, Gewoosh had to threaten and entice. Facing the lich, which was already caught, only a command was likely needed.

Looking at how he managed the Beastmen, one could foresee their bleak future.

The Archmages of Toril had already turned turning into a lich before living long enough into a routine... There were places where lich sets were sold.

In the past, there was no concern because Talos had always seemed foolish... every archmage capable of becoming a lich didn’t think they couldn’t outplay such a foolish Talos.

Especially after Midnight ascended, with her excessive exclusion of evil, many archmages felt it might be better to follow Talos... nobody wanted a mountain pressing down on their head.

Unfortunately, they considered Talos as a breeze in a fan, a wave could disperse... but instead, what crashed down was the Nai’se Mountains.

Gewoosh’s incident was a chilling wake-up call for those Toril countries and powers who always thought they were strong.

In ten thousand years, Toril’s Path of Destiny had run its course countless times, Talos impersonated by Gewoosh always had a strong presence... yet nobody ever questioned his identity.

Now looking back, he was full of abnormalities... like that unbelievably long list of adversaries.

If it were any other world, those oddities might have been discovered long ago, but who knew... in Toril, gods with abnormal brains kept emerging?

Talos indeed had many problems, but because Marla and Ambori caught people’s attention, those problems... only seemed like they naturally belonged to The Fury Camp.

The only slightly normal one, Olypher... even accepted the Winter Maiden’s ceremonies involving the slaughter of chickens and ducks for evil rituals, his normalcy was limited too.

But although everyone had ample reasons, the frustration was indescribable... Toril, though it always provided jokes for the multiverse, a joke where the whole world was turned blind had surpassed everyone’s endurance.

Even some evil faction archmages, through various means, asked if assistance was needed.

Necromancer Regent of Liansel even kindly sent a piece of information related to animal experiments... though Hill felt he probably didn’t consider dignity, as he seemed more pleased that Giant Valley had become a piece of meat enticing to Liansel.

Sazzastan was truly delighted now, having unified Liansel, logically he should make imposing moves on neighboring countries to replenish the manpower lost in civil wars.

Yet... those undead that could quickly reach Yinbutu remained a significant chronic concern for him.

Though Liansel had become sufficiently safe after turning into a highland due to Magicplague... but they also lost a lot of farmland.

Although this provided Sazzastan a very good reason for his plan to turn all of Liansel into Undead Land, prompting most wavering Red Robe Mages to decide directly to become liches.

But they still needed suitable land to plant magic materials.

Before, they couldn’t target Giant Valley... Giant Valley was nearly all forest, with few exceptions like small towns and Magic Towers, most of which were homes to giants who loved forest lakes.

Such a wealthy place couldn’t be guarded by any dragon short of Ancient Dragon.

But after the Black Dragon Brothers led the undead to overthrow several sorcerers’ Magic Towers in Lake Esmir and the swamp, the collusion between Giant Valley’s Magic Towers and Anmur Sorcerers was directly exposed... the Ancient Dragons that had protected several Magic Towers for tens of thousands of years all declared they needed to temporarily sleep.

The reason AO didn’t let the Platinum Dragon King leave Toril was probably for this day.

No matter how protective those dragons were, they couldn’t face Bahamut and say: even though those Magic Towers use all kinds of dragon eggs as experiment materials, they are still willing to protect them.

Indeed, the Black Dragon Brothers were the most unfortunate among that group of dragon eggs... they were sold off by their own mother, if not for them living in one egg, despite having to share the nutrition in the egg liquid, they also jointly dealt with the mess of potion outside the eggshell, they wouldn’t be so healthy.

Thus, these brothers had a particularly good relationship, after all, they knew since the embryonic stage, if not cooperating seamlessly, only death awaited them.

Most of the other unfortunate young Chromatic Dragons were secretly captured by humans and sold to Magic Towers after being abandoned by their mothers.

Chromatic Dragons were accustomed to abandoning those weak and undevelopable offspring, not to mention those dragon eggs with weak reactions, so their dragon eggs were always easy to find.

But those Magic Towers also had dragon eggs of Metal Dragons and Gem Dragons... each dragon egg proved the death of an adult mother dragon.

There is no room for argument; while the Metal Dragons and Gem Dragons are stingy with their children, the mother dragon’s protective instinct over Dragon Eggs is undeniable.

Therefore, the Ancient Dragons from the good and neutral factions opted to sleep rather than initiate a conflict, further proving the deep collusion between these Giant Dragons and several Magic Towers.

Even the selfish Giant Dragons, after being worshipped for tens of thousands of years, might have to relent. So even though they know they’ll be mocked by the Chromatic Dragons this time, the evil ones were toppled by Black Dragons... But they still acted like cowards.

The enemy’s forces withdrew directly, leaving the Goblins to go wild... For the Goblin Chief God, the only joy he’s gained after succumbing to Bane’s chains and daggers is being able to eliminate those who collude with his eternal enemy, Gewoosh, while working for Bane.

Sel fears that the surrounding countries will recklessly invite the Undead Tribe into their territories to resist... In the past, Sel was quite aggressive, often raiding nearby countries, but the unlucky ones were mostly civilians, while the Royal Nobility at most lost a lot of wealth.

When they leave, they simply exploit the civilians again... Witnessing the terror of the Sel people, the civilians actually become more compliant, just wanting to survive.

But now Sel needs a large population... But not living people.

Nobles, Kings, under the Undead Canopy, all turn to bones; Sel no longer needs sustainable development like before.

Thus, Sazzastan cannot be sure what choice neighboring people will make when faced with having no way out or possibly being reckoned with.

Yinbutu dared to invite the Undead Tribe to their lands because their Royal Family is a clean stream in that area.

Though quite useless, they aren’t considered malicious.

But the Royal Families of other countries probably tremble just thinking of the Undead Tribe tossing Alignment Detection everywhere.

According to the Undead Governor’s understanding of his neighbors, most people think that if they are doomed to die, the people, the slaves, will accompany them to Hell.

But... perhaps when confronted with certain doom, someone’s conscience might kick in, seeking a path of survival for their citizens, inviting the Undead Tribe into the country.

At that time... the Undead army would avoid that area.

Sazzastan has no doubt that the Otherworldly Elves would choose to wave with smiles when seeing a group of Undead passing by... From Bane, he’s received plenty of information.

So has he sold himself to Bane just for this piece of land called Sel?

His ambition, boiling for over ten thousand years, is now unbearable... Yet every time he sees the towering castle on the cliff in Yinbutu, it cools him down, leaving him to incessantly harass his neighbor.

But how is this different from before?

The Lich Archmages who’ve followed him to the Death Domain are growing impatient.

Sazzastan is a bit confused, unaware that he once had the opportunity to contact Lalock and obtain the Seat of Sakoxiel and the Dead Moon Magic Orb.

But the backing behind the Undead Tribe is obviously stronger than his!

What can he do?

Now, however, beside Sel lies a juicy piece of meat that definitely won’t attract the Undead Tribe!

Giant Valley does not have the ability to invite the Undead Tribe for rescue.

Therefore, the Undead Governor quickly collects all information relating to animal experiments from Sel... The enthusiasts of evil experiments, Sel cries for first place, no one dares claim second.

But... most of these people were his enemies in Sazzastan, now all are crouching in Icewind Valley waiting for the world to reopen!

What’s more, even if they weren’t before, now they are.

Hill received this information and understood the hint from the Undead Governor of Sel: the other wants to target Giant Valley, and Sazzastan will send the information related to Gewoosh’s experiments immediately.

No need for the Undead from the cliff to act themselves.

Hill delivered the information to the Alchemy Hall... Only William himself can make the decision.

Previously their focus was on Giant Valley because they thought they were the masterminds.

But if they were merely instructed thugs, many things aren’t beyond negotiation; it all depends on what William thinks.
