Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 749: Chapter 548: Kidnapping Lansendel

The Undead Tribe members filed out of the east gate of the town one after another, seemingly intent on pioneering new land.

Hill couldn’t help but ask List, ”Are they expanding? The Undead Tribe doesn’t need such a large space, do they?”

”Coron must have decided that the elves who are unwilling to go to Eternity Island would want to settle here with us,” List responded, ”That small town is too cramped.

He issued a task to expand Agleya Town. But at the same time, he demanded the planting of various flowers and trees.

Even the forest next door was included; the group of Wood Elf Druids has already agreed.

We have seen the blueprint for the city construction, and the complete panoramas are all ready. I suspect William helped with them; they look somewhat familiar.

Mr. Lynn thinks, he plans to build an Elf City here.

But whatever Coron wants to do is fine, Mr. Lynn said we just need to cooperate, after all, Coron is footing the bill and putting in the effort.

The other powers won’t oppose it either, not even Deepwater City, which would be the most affected, can make a peep.

No one on the Northern Continent can stop the Father of Elves’ ideas, and no one can discuss with the elves what is meant by first come, first served.”

Hill nodded in agreement.

After all, he intended to be a hands-off lord; whatever Coron wanted to do, he could just go ahead!

Being the City Lord was fine by him; besides, no one else could do it.

As for the Elf Queen on Eternity Island, Hill was well aware that if she had a day to return to the mainland, it would definitely be the day when the Supreme Forest was returned to elven hands.

She would not go anywhere else.

Although he didn’t know Lynn’s ambitions, Hill had also set his sights on the harbor.

The Undead Tribe might build, but they certainly couldn’t manage it.

Hill remembered Lynn saying that his cousins came from a Navy family, right?

”List,” Hill whispered with instructions, ”Tell Lynn that the harbor needs to start coming under the Mayor’s Mansion’s control. I’ve built both the lighthouse and the harbor management center; he just needs to arrange for people to go in.

Since we’ve welcomed the Undead Tribe, there will surely be other ships trying to stop here, our location is actually quite good, it’s just more dangerous.

Not many people are needed here; most merchants probably won’t dare to come to us, I guess it will still mostly be elves.”

”Sir,” List couldn’t help asking, ”Does the harbor still have faction requirements?”

”Of course,” Hill laughed, ”I’m not looking to make money; the harbor isn’t intended to be open to everyone. Ships and people from the Evil Faction can’t enter.

The Temporal Artifact will definitely continue to ’Detect Evil’; it won’t affect people from other factions.”

List nodded in agreement and went to coordinate with Lynn.

Actually, the God of Time and Space’s town control Core is extremely useful; it gives a crystal clear understanding of everything that happens in the city, allowing the City Lord to govern effortlessly.

Of course, the City Lord still has to ensure his own strength is not lacking, and be cautious of assassination.

But at least there will be fewer stabs in the back in his own city.

The only problem is, the God of Time and Space will also be very clear on the happenings.

Hill is fine since he has the Floating Castle; it’s the common Nobles like Saral who will be troubled.

The happenings within their homes, William surely cannot see; but as for who visits their homes, William would know everything.

Those who don’t care about these things being known to William and are more open-hearted will greatly enjoy this control Core. More importantly, it will bring the Undead Tribe under tighter control.

Most people would still choose security over absolute freedom.

Hill looked down at the Undead Tribe again; they seemed to have grown accustomed to the new world, where the first step is always starting by building their own base.

Hill always felt that in doing so, William was trying to make the Undead Tribe cherish the city a bit more.

At least, most wouldn’t like to see the city they had built with their own hands destroyed.

The Undead who dare to make a move would likely be suppressed by others.

The Undead Tribe is fiercest when they deal with their own kind.

Hill suddenly blinked and fell into deep thought: Were the Undead here called the Teraxil Elves?

What should he be called then?

This title always brought back some uncomfortable memories.

Furthermore, the Undead have always considered those elves to be fools!

What price did Coron pay to make the Undead acknowledge their blood relations with the group of Teraxil Elves?

So, is it the Undead saying that money for Coron is like money for themselves?

Hill shook his head, pulling his thoughts back; he would know sooner or later.

He returned to his desk and sat down, glancing at the various seeds in the box. After leafing through them, he had a clear idea in his head.

The plants of the World of Quince are not problem-free as Alice had said.

The World Will of this world is chaotic, so many plants, even though they appear similar, are not the same species at all.

From the moment they sprouted from seeds, they grew wildly according to the external environment, with utterly unstable genetics.

Hill pondered for a while, and from the looks of these seeds, it seemed even the earth in the World of Quince was unstable.

Not the earth’s crust or anything like that—if that were the case, life couldn’t possibly emerge in that world. It refers to the soil.

Perhaps today the soil is fertile, and tomorrow it becomes a desert.

Coupled with the ever-changing weather, it indeed is a tough place for survival.

But likewise, the life force of these plants is very tenacious, and they are capable of adapting to the majority of environments.

However, it would be impossible for creatures such as Treants and Tree Spirits to arise there; their entire will is focused on how to survive.

The seeds from the World of Quince contain a very strong life force, and Hill now understood why life could still persist in that chaotic world.

It’s likely that a single strawberry could satisfy a person’s daily survival needs.

Hill was curious to see what these plants would become once they acquired stable genetics.

He took out a new Semi-Divine Artifact Seed Bag and stuffed half of the seeds from these small pouches into it. Now all he needed to do was wait a while, and Hill would get the results of the analysis.

But it’s best not to mix seeds from different worlds; otherwise, the Seed Bag’s optimization function might be disrupted.

If he could maintain this life force yet stabilize the genetic inheritance, then Hill would truly possess something extraordinary.

Just like the legendary Fruit of Life.

Hill was a little excited.

He entrusted the remaining half for preservation to the Oak Spirit in his pendant. No matter the type of seed, Hill always kept a part of their most primitive state.

Hill took out boxes of gemstones from the bottom layer of the chest, which were indeed peculiarly beautiful.

Inside these gemstones, it looked as though something was flowing, and they all possessed a kind of life force.

The most basic ability was to keep one youthful.

Just as Alice said, these indeed were items the Queen would obsessively collect.

But for Alice herself, apart from being pretty, they were of no other use.

Hill carefully stored away most of the gemstones, only leaving behind a brilliant gold one. The liquid flowing inside it resembled Sunfire.

He stepped out onto the terrace and beckoned to the Great Peacock who was still curiously watching from above the clouds, ”Honorable Lord of Dawn, care to come down for a drink?”

The gold-tinged peacock ruffled its feathers and swiftly glided down, eliciting frenzied screams from the girls of the Undead Tribe.

Even many who had been working in the wilderness ran back to see, as the shimmering golden Great Peacock seemed to really catch the girls’ attention.

Lansendel swirled proudly around the town in mid-air for a circle, fully displaying his beautiful plumage before landing on the terrace.

List had already prepared the drinks, and next to the transparent Crystal Cup, the gold gemstone shone even more brilliantly.

Lansendel’s attention was indeed captivated, ”Hill! What gemstone is this? Is it from your world?”

”It’s from a small world called Quince,” Hill answered with a smile, ”Coron knows where it is, but you probably can’t get through his Star Gate, can you?”

”Coron...” Lansendel spread his stunning big wings, deflating onto the table, his gaze fixated on the gold gemstone, ”He hasn’t spoken to me for several centuries.”

”Mistral was completely destroyed this time. Is your Sun Tower alright?” Hill asked, puzzled.

Why would Lansendel have the time to come here and spectate the excitement unless his tower hadn’t been destroyed?

”Ah! It collapsed too,” Lansendel said nonchalantly, ”No worries, my followers are good at rebuilding.”

”Is there still a need to rebuild there?” The city of Mistral, which Lansendel had previously favored, was no longer even ruins.

”It’s needed if I like it,” Lansendel said absentmindedly, ”The Puzzle Lock there is still intact. I want to study it properly. The Puzzle Locks of Mistral are much more powerful than the ones here, capable of directly taking down a Floating City!

My followers found the power source of the Floating City; it’s been completely drained.

Hill, that thing could sustain a Floating City for tens of thousands of years, yet it was taken down by a Puzzle Lock!

How did that happen! What a pity, Mystrian no longer pays any heed to me either.

I’m really, really curious.”

Hill fell silent. He used to feel a bit embarrassed, but now he felt that if he could truly divert Lansendel’s attention to Quince, even the World Will of Toril would thank him.

Mystrian has been reduced to nothing but a remnant soul by you; how could you have the nerve to ask about the principles of the Puzzle Lock?

Although he didn’t directly perish in the Dawn Calamity, if most of his followers hadn’t been lost, Mystrian wouldn’t have fallen so easily afterwards.

If he actually managed to get rid of him, Hill felt he would be earning immense merit.

If the concept of providential merit existed in Toril, he’d be due for a cascading Falls Sea above his head!

”Why is the interior of this gemstone unstable?” Lansendel couldn’t help himself and used his wing to slide a gemstone in front of him.

”I don’t know,” Hill said with a laugh, ”But the person who gave these to me told me that everything in the World of Quince is unstable, even the earth and air are constantly changing.”

Lansendel seemed genuinely interested, ”Are there no Deities in that place?”

Hill replied with a smile, ”I’m not sure about that. However, the newly arrived Teraxil Elves are all Adventurers.”
