Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 710: Chapter 509: The Sudden Universal Uncertainty Card

”Hill’s Dad~ what are all these for?” Agleya sat next to Hill and draped acorn necklaces over his hands.

”These two should be used for summoning elements, you can try summoning other elements, even the Fire Element isn’t to be avoided, it just depends on whether they want to respond to your call.

This is a least level six ally summoning, quite useful. If you use it, summoning a Water Elemental ally should give you a bonus,” Hillia said with a smile, ”As for this necklace with six acorns, it’s probably for storing something, no idea what’s inside. But Druid treasures are definitely related to nature!

Agleya can communicate well; there should be some special surprises.”

Lynn couldn’t help but turn to look at Hill: he must know what this necklace signifies.

Just as Hill said, Druid treasures aren’t necessarily gold and silver jewelry or powerful artifacts, but they are certainly related to nature.

This type of thing is also useful to Hill, but he didn’t mind using them to amuse his daughter.

Lynn, who also comes from a notable background, is well aware of the daily lives of the legendary mages among the elves.

Even though they don’t value wealth as dragons do, they wouldn’t just use treasures to amuse their daughters like Hill does.

Looking at the amber acorns that Hill placed back on his own wrist, Agleya decided to go to her room to take a closer look at these necklaces.

Hill’s Dad’s words sounded so tempting, she knew there must be some interesting secrets, Agleya resolved to find them out quickly!

Sharing them with Hill’s Dad in the future would surely be a joyous occasion.

It’s also a good time to discuss new clothes with Marsha; any fabric that caught Hill’s Dad’s eye must be quite special.

Watching the lively Agleya dash out the door, Hill displayed a pleased smile, lately Agleya had been a bit too stressed, she needed a bit of encouragement.

Lynn cut into his thoughts: ”Those acorns, why can’t anyone see what they are? That shop owner, though he’s the president of the Musicians’ Association, he’s also a very famous mage!”

”That’s the seal of the Force of Nature, how could mages below Legendary see it?” Hill slowly said, ”Above Legendary, if one completely doesn’t understand life-related magic, actually they also might not be able to tell.

Although those are made of amber, they originally are formed from acorns!”

Lynn understood; most magicians have no link to the Force of Nature, even the powerful ones can’t see this type of natural consciousness-assisted hiding method.

Those below Legendary, even if they are Nature Mages, can’t find any flaws.

That Druid ring from Moon Forest, still hopes its treasures return to the hands of its natural comrades, even if not related to its siblings, it would still prefer to remain with those favored by nature.

No wonder a magical system professional like Hill appeared, Lynn no longer thought of Hill as a pure Nature Mage, he must be either a part-time Druid or he has some special lineage, very likely the descendant of a Nature Deity.

However, he was still puzzled.

Lynn looked directly at Hill: ”I remember that music shop, was the first one we entered on Sword Avenue yesterday morning.

How did you manage that?

To have acquired such treasures and still casually shop and dine with me!

You even had time to wander the alleys, messing with those clueless youngsters!”

Hill blinked: ”The items were already in my hands, what is there to worry about? Of course, the first thing to do is to have fun!”

”Power, truly is the confidence of the strong!” Lynn sighed, ”But, I still have to confirm, Hill, you do know that the long necklace leads to the dimensional treasure space in Moon Forest Ring, right?

That era seemed to like using pendants as keys.”

Hill nodded: ”This is perfect for letting Agleya play the treasure hunt game, isn’t it?”

Lynn smiled bitterly, leaped up from the couch, ”I don’t plan on getting any more shocks here. Terry, let’s hit the tavern!

I’ll teach you the simplest cocktail recipes first.

I seriously don’t know if anyone would be crazy enough to buy your special cocktails, maybe I still don’t quite understand humans?”

The Little Golden Dragon, who had been deep in thought by the side, suddenly awoke, hurriedly put on his soft gloves: ”There definitely will be! That Dragon Tailor charges hundreds of gold for a mere robe!”

”That dragon... tailor is only suspected to be a dragon, right?” Lynn asked with a weird tone: ”However, can’t you shapeshift yet? You should be mature enough now!”

Terry’s round cheeks puffed out indignantly: ”I’m not even 100 years old yet! Why bring up such a terrifying demand for me?

This glove was a gift from my dad! I can use it for at least 300 years! After 300 years, even if I’m lazy, I’d be able to shapeshift by then.”

”Okay... you are a dragon,” Lynn conceded and headed for the door first.

As Terry was about to leave, he turned to look at Hill and blurted out, ”A pendant as a key?”

”A treasure hunt game is only fun when you find it yourself,” Hill answered cryptically with a smile.

The Little Golden Dragon happily ran after Lynn, Hill knew, whether it was Terry or Agleya, they likely had enough to keep themselves occupied for a while now.

As for himself, he finally got inspiration for a magic book.

If he really had a Magic Ship, the spell he should definitely learn is how to find routes in the starry sky.

Hill had made preparations for this, after all, his original plan was to venture into the starry sky to search for other worlds.

It was just unexpected to be sent directly to the troublesome Toril by the Star Gate.

But Hill still intended to venture into the starry sky, even if just to visit some interesting planets in the Toril Universe.

He had always hoped to find a suitable half-plane!

His pendant was also fine, but it was a bit small.

Toril had its advantages, boasting a broader and more comprehensive collection of spells, with many places Hill could never have imagined having mages who found interesting solutions.

This concept of wanting to solve everything with magic, Teraxil was somewhat lacking in that respect; the spells passed down by the elves were somewhat unconventional.

The gap with Toril was indeed massive.

Hill returned to the library, beginning his search for all the spells that could function in the starry sky. Though he had already memorized all the magic models, this process of searching clarified and defined his thoughts.

However, his hand froze as it flipped through an atlas he had just purchased from Deepwater City.

A beautifully detailed card appeared silently before him, its back facing him, a terrifying desire assaulted him, urging Hill to turn it over.

Yet Hill stubbornly resisted that boiling desire.

He knew what this was, and there was nothing in this world that he longed for but could not have.

The exquisite and beautiful pattern on the back, and the material of ivory, were all telling Hill the identity of this object.

Hill slowly closed the atlas.

In Toril, Hill had few connections; thus, no one could prophesy Hill’s past and future.

Even the Mage Lord of Deepwater City, Black Staff Kelben, who desperately wanted to know if the nearby Hill would affect his future schemes, could find no means to do so.

Hill even thought that Kelben might try to find a way to kill him, but such things never scared him. If Kelben wanted to move against Hill, he would at least have to use the blessings the Goddess of Magic had bestowed upon him.

Unless the Goddess of Magic herself intervened, merely a portion of that power would likely not harm Hill at all.

But the moment Kelben made his move, he might be deprived of his status as the Chosen by the Goddess of Magic.

No deity of the Kind Alignment would permit their Chosen to use their power to harm another champion of the Kind Alignment.

Mist knew that Coron would be keeping an eye on Hill; should she extend her hand and not immediately sever it, she would surely be doomed.

But now, Mist had absolutely no connection with Kelben.

The Dragon God and the Elf God were both watching her!

Hill had always been prepared for troublesome neighbors.

He glanced at the atlas again; so there were such methods!

The Deck of Many Things from the Toril World.

Famous risk-takers.

Normally, it should be a set, but here there was only one card, indicating the rest of the deck must be in someone else’s hands.

That way, Hill could disregard those deck settings and just needed to flip it over.

With Hill’s luck, it was impossible for him to draw the Card of Misfortune.

Even the worst card in the deck of Good Fortune was worth 2000 Gold Coins of jewelry.

But this deck belonged to someone else.

Most likely Kelben.

If Hill couldn’t resist turning over this High-grade Artifact, he would establish a causal connection with Kelben, allowing the Lord of the Black Staff to observe Hill’s future in Ferun.

At least, he could calculate whether Hill would affect his plans.

Hill sat quietly behind his desk.

This was a blatant scheme by Kelben!

What if Hill didn’t know what the Deck of Many Things was and just flipped it open?

What if Hill knew, but didn’t have enough sense? It was, after all, part of a divine artifact!

Hill breathed out softly, patted the desk in front of him, and exclaimed, ”That was close!”

All this time, he had only seen the madness and greed of Black Staff, almost forgetting that he was the strongest among a group of scheming lords in Deepwater City!

Madness did not mean lacking methods.

It’s just that Black Staff believed he would die before the twins were born, a bit too hasty.

Hill took out a flat, long case and placed the atlas inside it. Then he engraved a magic array on it to firmly seal the case. He then fitted a transparent crystal ball over the case.

Finally, he suspended the crystal ball just above the left side of his desk.

That way, even if he buried himself in magic every day, just looking up at the crystal ball would remind him not to underestimate anyone.

Even the most formidable powers couldn’t prevent one from being manipulated.

He had seen too many powerful beings die unexpectedly.
