Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 748: Chapter 547: Alice’s Letter and Gift

Divine power fluctuations came from outside, and Hill carefully stored William’s letter before stepping out onto the balcony.

Lynn had, with Marsha’s help, unlocked the God of Time and Space’s core control, and streams of golden light spread throughout the town.

They merely skirted around two Temples and the Harpist’s building.

In Agleya, they released even more, excluding only their own Main Temple; even the plaza outside and the two little lodges for travelers ceded their management rights.

She must have considered that places accessible to the people of Ferun Great Land shouldn’t prevent the Undead Tribe from entering, so she decided to delegate surveillance to the God of Time and Space. Agleya had no interest in personally dealing with the potential dramas that could erupt at any moment.

This also was a common practice among allies of the Gods of Time and Space; they couldn’t stop the Undead Tribe from appearing near their temples, but they could let the God of Time and Space handle any infractions directly.

No one wants to personally oversee the actions of the Undead Tribe; that required not just patience but also a significant amount of sanity.

Even the Goddess of the Silvermoon, who was most interested in the Undead, kept her distance quite honestly.

Hill could quite understand Lynn’s approach of not caring about his powers being dispersed, a group of Elves capable of mingling with the most fearsome Seraphs in his mouth, he would definitely not want to manage these folks.

Lynn’s thoughts weren’t as simple as Hill’s; after listening to Marsha, he became genuinely interested in the core that could help manage the city.

He thought, with so many laws in Teraxil, even those with good memory felt overwhelmed, how could ordinary people remember all that.

There was such an excellent method available that could alert the managers before any troubles arose.

Moreover, if there was an inadvertent violation, to receive a reminder was really suitable for Elves who disliked using their brains!

It’s not that Elves don’t think, Lynn pondered, but their thoughts often leap too quickly and they easily obsess over minute details.

If one’s own mind can easily conflict, then it’s no wonder their actions are so paradoxical!

As for the old relics of Eternity Island, they had simply lived too long, seeing nothing but the Elf Throne.

Indeed, the truly spirited Elves had joined the Navy; the rest were all fools deceiving themselves!

Lynn picked up a pen; since arriving at Eternity Island, Elves’ birth rate had dropped again, leaving him with only a handful of cousins of his generation, besides a few foolish ones who had zealously joined the Elf Crusade; the rest followed family tradition into the Navy.

Previously, he would never have invited his relatives over; Navy life was quite good, and amid all the political struggles, the family could maintain neutrality, which was both a duty and a right of the military.

Even chaotic Elves could adhere to this principle.

Moreover, Lynn had been worried these past few days about how to balance the relationship between the Elf Crusade and the original townsfolk, as, with the Elves’ strength, even the nearby Silver Shield Knights didn’t have many who were more formidable than them.

Toril’s fairness always sought equality in strength; commoners inherently fall behind.

As long as ordinary people’s lives weren’t arbitrarily harmed, they were accustomed to living a life of hiding and dodging.

However, Lynn didn’t want the residents of Agleya Town, who had always had harmonious relations, to become nervously like those in the big cities; he always believed that the comfortable life of the residents of Silvermoon City was what he aspired to.

So Lynn was struggling about how to discuss with the Elf Crusade the fundamental principles of friendly interaction with the townsfolk.

Now, good, he wouldn’t need to worry about it anymore.

Lynn practically without thinking, accepted Marsha’s suggestion and directly activated the management core.

These former Undead, renamed by Coron as ’Teraxil Elves’, regardless of how, Lynn was quite willing to trust them; Coron wouldn’t sacrifice his loyal followers.

Moreover, for the Elves of Toril, although there were many rules, as Coron had approved them, unless something they were particularly dissatisfied with occurred, the Elves were still willing to follow Coron’s will.

Lynn’s eyes sparkled as he wrote invitation letters, hoping the entire Gar Family would come.

The blessings of the Elven Pantheon for the Crusade must have already spread to Eternity Island, those fellas must be greatly shocked; just thinking about it made Lynn feel delighted.

Eternity Island might still be where the Elf Court resided, but its status as a political and power center had been discounted.

From now on, Agleya Town would be the place the Elves yearned for.

Lynn felt that it might not take many years for him to become the Governor of Agleya City.

Then, the future Agleya City should also have its own Navy!

Lynn wrote to the Clan Leader meticulously and carefully, although his grandma might not give up the Elf Royal Navy, one shouldn’t put all eggs in one basket, right?

What if the Elf Queen failed in the struggle?

Although his grandmother had always maintained neutrality in political struggles, Lynn knew very well that after his mom was driven from Eternity Island, the posture of the Gar Navy’s general had begun to skew.

Lynn wrote happily; he believed that Hill definitely had the skills to organize a fleet far stronger than the Eternity Island Navy fleet, as for the specific designs of the Elven Dreadnought, ha! What didn’t Coron know?

Hill didn’t realize that his friend had already plunged into crazy fantasies and had even pre-emptively planned the directions for burning money.

He returned to the study and gently opened that beautifully crafted little box.

The first thing he saw were hundreds of small pouches and atop them neatly lay a letter.

Hill opened the letter, Alice’s slightly untidy handwriting appeared before his eyes:

Dear Hill’s Dad!

I really, really miss you!

The Undead Tribe says they will soon reach your world. I really want to go there too, but Alice is now a queen as well!

I also have loyal and flattering subordinates, and some suitors who follow me around every day.

Listening to them every day, I kind of understand why Merkel became foolish later on.

If nature didn’t tell me every day that they are lying, all those sweet words would be enough to make me feel omnipotent!

Power really is a double-edged sword!

Hill’s Dad! I don’t know how long I will like this kind of life, but I still want to know if I can maintain myself in this life.

Some things, you only know how to choose after you have experienced them yourself.

The only regret is that I can’t come to your side.

Along with this letter, I’m sending some unique plants from this world. You must have already learned from the Undead Tribe that Quince is a rather amusing world.

Besides the normal plants, both people and animals often fall into self-confusion and some inexplicable entanglements.

The Undead Tribe is not quite adapted to life here; though they might seem chaotic, they actually have a principle they never want to breach.

It’s an ideology instilled from a young age, which most people adhere to.

Plus, even those who cause disruptions have some ideologies too, even if it’s for momentary joy, it’s still a choice.

You know what you want to do, and even if it’s evil, it actually follows some order.

I think, William probably hopes that Saral will also become like this someday.

It doesn’t work here in Quince. I think they are like the fish memory the Undead speak of, not caring what happened 7 seconds ago, able to change a just-made decision instantly.

They might be saving someone one moment and immediately start killing the next.

So, Hill’s Dad, you can rest assured, although there are many pursuers here, I definitely won’t be moved by them.

This is a world without even marriage, where the relationships between men and women are less enduring than rabbits.

But it’s very fun, really, Hill’s Dad, extremely amusing, every day is like watching an absurd comedy.

It’s the first time I’ve seen a world where the Undead hope to finish their business and leave as quickly as possible.

But maybe because they focus all their attention on their own kind, the plants here are comprehensive, with species from hundreds of thousands of years ago doing quite well.

I’ve collected many, some even are the species from Teraxil that have disappeared according to that big book of plants you, Dad, have.

I think you will really like them.

And then there are some very beautiful gemstones.

I have compared them with the ones in the jewelry box you gave me, and they are not the same.

I don’t quite know the difference in these gems, but for you, Dad, as long as there’s a sufficient quantity to analyze the structure, that should be enough, right?

I hope these will be of use, if not, just tell the Undead Tribe, and I will collect more for you.

As a queen, wanting more and larger gemstones is naturally justified in this world.

The Undead, though reluctant to stay in Quince permanently, there are still people who come by to check from time to time.

Especially the people from the ’Young Master’s’ family, I’ve heard from the Undead that they are all artists and love coming to Quince to watch these natural dramas, it seems to inspire their creativity.

Although I don’t understand why absurdity represents art, it’s still good to have someone who can help me send letters.

Hill’s Dad, please don’t ever forget about Alice!

Also, Dad, when you send back gifts, please use this box. I really like it.

Hill sighed as he finished reading the letter, not sure what to say.

That Alice would make such a decision, he seemed to understand; cats are actually very pragmatic creatures, they only look at the present and don’t ponder the outcome, they act first and think later.

If a cat contemplates before a prey, it’s not whether to strike, but which paw to use first.

But at least, Hill didn’t need to worry about Alice anymore, Quince was quite suitable for her fickle nature.

Noises from outside came again, and Hill turned his head to call List, inquiring what had happened.

”Sir,” List said with a smile, ”the Temporal Artifact has connected to the town’s core, and the Undead can start accepting tasks now.”

Hill hesitated for a moment but couldn’t resist stepping out onto the balcony to observe.
