Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 734: Chapter 533: Toril Always Has Unexpected Guests

Agleya smiled sheepishly at Hill as her hands deftly and swiftly gathered all those golden tail feathers.

”Like them that much?” Hill asked her curiously.

”Suren said that the tail feathers of the Sun Peacock, transformed by the Lord of Dawn, can preserve eternal youth and vitality. They’re not much different from the Pool of Radiance’s spring water,” Agleya said softly.

Weren’t you two discussing this while Lansendel was standing right beside you?

No wonder Lansendel actually reacted; it seems he’s quite accustomed to the goddesses’ attention towards his tail feathers.

With a tilted head and a hint of confusion, Agleya said, ”The goddesses of beauty, happiness, and desire in Toril seem to have an alliance, and they share the spring water from this Pool of Radiance.

Suren says the Pool of Radiance is a sacred crystal fountain and pond in the Crystal Palace of Hanali Celanil, the Elven Goddess of Love and Beauty. Bathing there increases one’s charm and Radiance Rejuvenation.

It sounds like only those goddesses of love and beauty can go there.

It’s a bit strange here in Toril, Dad!

Is the alliance only based on divinity?”

Hill hesitated for a while before organizing his words, ”The goddesses of love and beauty in this world strive for utmost beauty and romance. How many are there in this world who are more beautiful than themselves?

So, of course, they would look pleasingly upon one another.

Even if there’s competition, it’s peaceful, like the kind of contests played amongst the Undead, at most wounding one’s pride.”

”Suren is beautiful! That Shaer is also said to be very beautiful, isn’t she? William has never felt the Elven goddesses were beautiful, he has only ever praised Shaer!” Agleya said indignantly, ”Why should they be excluded?”

”Because of envy, my dear girl~ Among them, power and beauty are not the same thing.

Don’t you learn from them; those who can only use beauty as a weapon are doomed to fall sooner or later.” A faint voice rose beside their ears, and a purple flame appeared in midair. At the center of the flame was a deep and beautiful eye with a purple-black pupil, gazing directly at Hill and Agleya.

Hill immediately stood up, ”It is a pleasure to see you again, beautiful and elegant Shaer.”

”Didn’t William come with you?” Shaer asked casually.

”He has not been formally deified and cannot enter the powerful Crystal Wall of Toril; he might accidentally get assimilated if he’s not careful,” Hill answered respectfully.

Shaer snorted coldly, ”That’s true, although it’s a pity.

When you go back, remember to tell him that I welcome him to visit Toril; it’s best if he comes soon.

It’s very likely that this chaotic scenery will soon disappear.

Speaking of which, Suren seems to like you guys too!

Indeed, people from other worlds are much more adorable.

Foolish guys, always clinging to useless things. She’s lucky she fled quickly!”

Hill kept silent and also gestured with his eyes for Agleya to remain quiet.

”Don’t dissuade the girl’s impulse; it’s not surprising that Suren is easy to win a child’s affection.

I don’t mind whether she’ll help Suren or not.

If she dares to make a move, I’ll naturally send her back to her own world,” Shaer said with an elegant smile, ”I’m not interested in other worlds unless they have Suren’s followers.

Since you’re only wanting to be passersby in Toril, I have no reason to trouble you.

I’ve felt the divine power of the sun and earth from your world, very interesting, it’s much less pure than here in Toril.

That sun must have been born with the universe, right?

A universe that did not have a sun at the beginning shouldn’t have been created again!

The chaos in Toril is indeed due to Suren’s folly.”

Hill listened helplessly; it was all too normal for the embodiment of darkness to despise the light.

However, as a co-origin of the universe, Shaer could only fail, not be destroyed, unless the universe of Toril collapsed.

But for Shaer, that might not be such a bad thing; at least she would gain the eternal peace she desired.

Anyway, as long as Shaer doesn’t see him as an enemy, it’s fine; they just entertained Suren!

Agleya had gotten along very well with Suren.

It was quite persistent that the Goddess of Night would still keep an eye on where Suren’s incarnation went during such a busy time!

”What is Lansendel trying to do? You’d better stay away from him,” Shaer suddenly said, ”Neither the Abyss nor Hell wants him to fall into their domain.

Devils and demons flee at the sight of his Dawn Church, not because they fear his power so much but because they truly worry about bringing him back to their territory.

Nobody wants to see their birthplace completely destroyed, no matter how bad.”

Hill couldn’t help but blink, recalling once more Lansendel’s masterpiece, and sighed softly, ”In any case, whatever he does will have nothing to do with me.

Hill and Agleya just want to guard this place and won’t go anywhere else.

”Lansendel is actually a pretty good friend when he occasionally comes to visit.”

Shaer laughed, ”That’s true, your foundation isn’t in Toril, at least you don’t have to worry about the subordinates you saw yesterday not being there when you open your eyes in the morning.”

Hearing the goddess’s heartfelt disdain, Hill suddenly realized, not to mention how many of Shaer’s subordinates were destroyed in those two empires due to the Dawn Calamity, even in the city of Mis Zhunuo, there was a secret church specifically created by the goddess that was active.

She had just devoured a dark deity of the Northern Continent and got her hands on that church, ready to secretly deal with Suren.

Back then, Suren’s power and church were both quite strong!

Shaer was fantasizing about catching Suren unprepared, but half the church perished along with Mis Zhunuo and some neighboring countries and cities.

Hill chuckled awkwardly, as he really had nothing to say about that.

Evil Gods would shudder at the sight of Lansendel appearing, wondering if they’d be unlucky enough to clash with this fellow.

After hesitating for a while, Hill gently spoke up, ”If William’s undead adventurer subordinates have a chance to come to Toril, would you stop them?”

It wasn’t just Mystra’s consent that would allow the Undead Tribe to come to Toril; AO wouldn’t care about these visitors from other worlds, but the wishes of Shaer and Suren were actually very important.

If they were unwilling, the world of Toril, whether bright or dark, would reject the emergence of the Undead Tribe.

”That bunch...?” Shaer hesitated, which was rare, and then she quickly laughed, ”Let them come if they want! Their impact on me won’t be much, and it’s the pesky human race that will suffer the misfortune.

Let them also feel what it’s like to be disturbed.

Toril is noisy enough as it is, and I don’t mind it being a bit more chaotic.

Even if the whole world explodes, it wouldn’t affect their fates, right?

However, if they cause too much trouble, they might be tracked down by devils to their original world; so many curious souls hold a great attraction for them.

And no deity will protect the souls from other worlds.”

Hearing her confident words, Hill understood that Shaer’s scheming against Mystra and Cyric was already on track; all it needed was the right opportunity.

If Mystra continued to be so naive, the discontent of the gods towards the Mistress of the Weave could create even more gaps in her divine kingdom.

Hill even wondered if the recent foolishness of Deepwater City and the Black Staff had something to do with this goddess most attuned to mortal hearts’ darkest depths.

As for devils finding the original world of the Undead, Hill couldn’t care less; even the Lord of Hell would turn to ashes if he went there.

And for Teraxil, even the Beastmen had been there, so the hands reaching out from devils and demons would certainly not be few.

It’s all up to William and his means now.

”Coron was aiming for this all along!” Purple flames flickered, and Shaer quickly understood the implications in Hill’s words, scoffing with contempt, ”That fool Mystra!

Even the previous one was better than her.

That one might have been a bitch, but she wasn’t naive enough to be stupid.”

Hill realized that Shaer was quite certain that the current Goddess of Magic, originally named Midnight, wasn’t scheming deeply but genuinely lacked intelligence and oversimplified things.

Honestly, Midnight wasn’t even as capable as Elaströ, but who could blame the Tablets of Fate for choosing her?

Nobody thought she would still stick to her Kind Alignment instead of Eternal Neutrality after becoming the Goddess of Magic.

Of course, there are many mages of Kind Alignment, but that’s only a small fraction.

Neutrality is the most common, and Mystra’s persistence has alienated her greatest ally, the Deity of Mages, and it’s somewhat understandable that she has faced so many calamities.

However, Hill noticed that Shaer didn’t curse the first Goddess of Magic, despite many things being inherited from her by the subsequent two; it seemed she didn’t consider them connected at all.

Such complex feelings were beyond Hill’s comprehension.

The goddesses of Toril had richer emotions than mortals.

After confirming the reason Suren came to see Hill, Shaer quickly left.

If Agleya hadn’t sincerely believed herself to be a peerless beauty, Shaer, who watched everything from the Shadow Plane, would have observed and left directly instead of exposing herself; Hill’s power wasn’t enough to detect her presence.

Lansendel didn’t even notice when he was there!

Hill sighed softly, initially wanting to take a look at Mis Zhunuo, but it’s best not to leave this small town.

Indeed, the Tablets of Fate couldn’t weave Hill’s destiny, but they could create an incredibly interesting journey for him.

”Hill’s Dad! I need some materials,” Agleya interrupted Hill’s thoughts.

”What do you need?” Hill asked curiously, as Agleya, who controlled the seas of Teraxil, rarely lacked any materials, not even Mithril.

Agleya widened her eyes, looking innocently, ”The vine of the Crystal Flower. I want to weave it into a head ornament with this feather.”
