Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 735: Chapter 534: Let’s get ready for the old friends who are about to arrive!

Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

That old ancestor of the Crystal Flower Yuniflora had always been very wary of Agleya, even though she knew Agleya was the girl Hill had raised, but she always felt that Agleya would get rid of her as a nuisance.

After all, this Crystal Flower lived in the Deep Sea, but claimed to always love the Goddess of the Earth most.

Agleya blinked and said, ”Every time I try to communicate with her properly, I end up getting angry!

Not to mention that Hill’s Dad also has her bloodline, just based on the Goddess of the Earth, I wouldn’t possibly do anything to her!

Moreover, her strength might not be much less than mine!

I really don’t know where she gets such a big sense of crisis from.

I can’t even exchange a vine with her, she hides in that sea trench, refusing to speak.”

Agleya said regretfully, ”I discovered long ago that her vines can pull out very beautiful transparent threads, which are perfect for making into jewelry threads, very exquisite when woven~

And they can also be made into pretty clothes along with other colored materials.

Unfortunately, except for Hill’s Dad, she doesn’t care about anyone else, not even the Goddess of the Silvermoon, who was also refused entry by her, and didn’t even let her in above sea level, which is even worse than me!

That Crystal Flower Yuniflora sent a long dress with floral patterns to the Goddess of the Earth, and she even dyed it a very beautiful lotus green color, with layers upon layers on the hem, yet it looked very light.

I really like it~ I tried so many ways and still couldn’t get the same effect!

It must be because of those threads!”

Hill couldn’t help but glance at Agleya. Is this what the world of girls is like?

But with the Goddess of the Earth present, it seems Yuniflora will not cause any trouble; that’s good.

As long as she doesn’t take the initiative to attack humans, Hill never expected this old ancestor to spare those who dare to search for treasures in her domain.

Agleya happily went back to her room to make jewelry; she had long wanted to ask Hill for a vine, but only now did she have the chance, as the tail feathers of the Lord of Dawn’s gold weren’t something that just any material could match.

Hill shook his head and asked List to invite Lynn to the castle.

There was no need for Lynn to do anything in the short term; the paladins of Tyr had already completely stopped those people from entering the town.

Neither Agleya’s Temple nor Tyr would allow them to enter, so these adventurers could only choose to go to Neverwinter or Deepwater City.

But apart from a few from Neverwinter, most people would choose to go to Deepwater as it is closer, and there are more merchants, which makes the jewelry sell faster.

It’s just that I don’t know if the cities that got these jewels will be able to bear this fortune.

Hill’s fingers tapped lightly, and a fine, white mist surrounded some people, casting a glow.

These people were really quick; they took advantage of the chaos to search for some gold and silver jewelry that fell near the Bhaal Temple.

”Those carrying stolen items from the Bhaal Temple are not allowed to enter Agleya Town,” Hill said slowly, making sure his voice reached everyone’s ears, ”including those who have already obtained residency rights. Mayor Lynn will refund your rent.

Make a wise choice, and do not bring trouble back to my territory.”

When Hill walked into the study, Lynn happened to push the door open and enter.

”Hill! What’s going on?” the half-elf asked with some confusion. ”I saw those mages from Silvermoon City; why would they come here treasure hunting?”

”The Silvermoon Alliance conducted a trial for the young people of their four cities,” Hill waved his hand dismissively, ”it seems they have underestimated me though.”

”How do you plan to retaliate?” Lynn asked inquisitively, sitting on the soft sofa in front of the desk.

”They haven’t done anything overt, can I really take issue with a bunch of kids blinded by their enthusiasm?” Hill replied with a smile, ”I just bought out some livestock and fairly expensive meats and fruit.”

Lynn quickly understood, ”That’s a high price to pay, isn’t it?”

”No matter,” Hill answered with a smile. ”I never worry about the issue of spending money, and it’s quite nice to keep Terry and his family stuck for a bit longer.”

”Is there a follow up to this?” Lynn looked up in surprise.

”Time flies, years pass like water, Toril World falls again into the clutches of a tumultuous fate,” Hill recited a standard epic opening often used by bards, and Lynn, with his rich Gold Elf heritage, immediately understood.

He looked unusually upset, and after a long while, he asked, ”Will Eternity Island be a problem?”

Hill looked at Lynn in surprise.

The elves of Toril, indeed treated half-elves very well, considered full members of their own, but definitely not including Eternity Island where the Elven Royal Family resides.

That’s a place where even the daughter of the Elf Queen, after having a child with a human, would be exiled.

The half-elves from Eternity Island are few and far between; most are abandoned, while Lynn’s Gold Elf blood is particularly strong.

Hill really couldn’t think of Lynn coming from a noble family on Eternity Island.

Ever since those Elf Nobility joined forces to exile that Princess from Eternity Island, the Elf Queen had been watching them closely, definitely not letting any noble who dares to have a half-elf child off the hook.

The commoners on both sides didn’t care much either.

”I don’t want to say that there’s anything wrong with my family, they, too, tried hard to protect my parents.

Unfortunately, it was useless. Eternity Island doesn’t welcome Half-Elves, and even though they hid me, I was still discovered and snitched on after.

I only stayed on Eternity Island for a few years before my parents took me away,” Lynn’s eyes drooped slightly, ”but I have very close family still on Eternity Island.

I care deeply about them.”

Hill didn’t quite understand why Lynn, who had been discriminated against and bullied by Elves, would still pay so much attention to all things Elvish.

Lynn cared not only about his family members but still considered himself part of the Elven folk.

Hill looked at the uneasy Lynn, but didn’t continue to pry into his secrets, merely smiling, ”So far, it has little to do with the Elves.

The only trouble the Elves have now is with Mis Zhunuo, but those Elves will never give up no matter what.”

Relieved, Lynn leaned back in his chair, ”They’re seeking death on their own, no one will care.

After the destruction of Mis Zhunuo, it’s impossible for it to belong entirely to the Elves anymore. In fact, all the Elves know this; it’s just a matter of whether they’re willing to admit it or not.

The ones there are the most stubborn and radical, and they don’t plan to listen to the Queen’s advice at all.”

Hill smiled at his friend.

This, the first friend he made after arriving in Toril, seemed to have many secrets!

But considering himself, Hill didn’t think there was anything wrong with Lynn keeping his secrets. Some secrets are only meant to stay in the heart, and telling a friend would only bring trouble.

Lynn glanced at the town below. Tyr’s Holy Knights were roughly driving away those Adventurers who emitted dark glows.

”The settlers here, if they really find some scattered treasure of Baal, wouldn’t necessarily choose to give up the wealth to stay in the town.

This place is indeed safe enough, but money can buy more than just a little security.

Civilians who could become Professionals in Toril are never short of ambition.”

”Let them go if they want to,” Hill smiled in response, ”When they first came to me, it was for a peaceful life, and I can only guarantee the safety within the town.

If these people see this dark glow that I’ve elicited and still choose to take the treasure, then they were already the biggest threat to stability.

If they forget their original intentions, whatever fate they meet is deserved.

The people in town who mind their own business don’t need to take risks for them.”

Lynn nodded, ”I know what to do now; I don’t need to show any mercy, do I?”

Hill quickly perceived Lynn’s intent, ”Of course. Tyr’s followers as well.”

Lynn stood up with a smile, ”Even Baal died at your hands, so the peace of Agleya Town certainly won’t be threatened anymore.

I’ll handle these troubles now.”

Hill nodded, standing to see him out, with one last remark, ”The people of Lansendel are constructing a Temple in the wilderness nearby; they may come to our place, so don’t get startled.”

Lynn staggered slightly, giving Hill a peculiar look for him to interpret, then turned and left.

”Do you think Mr. Lynn believes you are playing with fire?” List appeared behind Hill, curious.

”He’s telling me, if I want to die, I should go ahead, but he definitely won’t accompany me,” Hill recalled the complex look and couldn’t help but laugh, ”But as a Priest, Lynn would never speak ill of other Deities directly.

Sometimes, a Priest’s silence and a look of dissatisfaction regarding a certain Deity indicates that he’s already cursing in his heart.

It seems that the Elves’ resentment towards the Lord of Dawn is hard to change.”

Always composed, List’s expression changed several times, as he had already recorded in his core all the books Hill had collected; he understood why the Elves, who had been devastated by Lansendel, hated him so much.

If not for Lansendel weakening the Elves first, the Demon’s full-scale invasion wouldn’t have been so easy.

What the Elves hated the most was that, despite being pitied so miserably, the Lord of Dawn still existed as a Neutral Good entity, and the Elves could not treat him as an eternal enemy.

Hill didn’t plan to meddle with the chaos below; this was a situation Lynn could handle well.

He simply watched the clouds in the sky, then said softly to List amidst the suddenly growing wind, ”Probably in about a year, we’ll see a lot of old friends. During this time, we should prepare.”

List also smiled, ”Do you think they’ll land here with us?”

”The Star Gate will only appear outside Baldur’s Gate or Deepwater City,” Hill caught a floating leaf, ”When the time comes, both cities will probably become chaotic. They won’t allow so many outsiders to land in their city; they’ll have to choose here.

And names and lordships are familiar to the Undead.

It’s going to be very interesting then.”
