Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 741: 540th Chapter: The Elf Ancestor Came to Answer Questions

The sky blue flame aura flickered in the sky, then vanished in anger at Mystra’s repeated calls.

That was the manifestation of Coron in his fury, typically he would use the avatar in the sky blue cloak when in a calm state.

The elves gathered together, beginning to discuss what to do next.

They had just sworn to abandon Eternity Island, and then such a thing happened. If they really went to full war with Mystra, these elves would have to reluctantly cooperate with that group of old folks on Eternity Island.

This left the members of the Elf Crusade at a loss.

Hill, however, was not worried. He suddenly understood why Coron was so firm with the elves of Eternity Island.

If those guys continued to live so incompetently and shamelessly, Coron would want to cultivate young and passionate elves.

After all, he had other ways to get through these years without the young elves risking their lives.

Hill didn’t know how to evaluate Coron.

But aside from his chaotic private life, this father of elves truly cared for the elves.

Few deities, when making major decisions, would still consider whether a funeral could proceed smoothly.

Furthermore, even though he was very dissatisfied with the elves of Eternity Island, he only increased the divine favor extended to the Elf Queen instead of forcing changes upon them.

Hill glanced at the extremely agitated elves, truly thinking that Mystra was courting death.

After the catastrophic destruction of Mystrian, when the elves’ emotions were on the brink of collapse, she resurrected the very Black Staff Kelben who had greatly offended the elves.

Hill estimated that even Coron hadn’t expected this.

They all actually believed that even if Mystra resurrected Kelben, she would choose to do so after the elves had regained their calm.

At that time, if Mystra made certain concessions, Coron would indeed have let that guy go; he had been waiting for the chance to negotiate.

Yet, unexpectedly, Mystra chose to smuggle him back.

When did this happen? Hill pondered, the Harpists didn’t catch any wind of it, indicating the matter was extremely secretive, possibly even Black Staff’s wife, Laila, who had been sent to New City, didn’t know.

Mystra might have just intended to seize the moment when the elves and some deities were focused on Mis Zhunuo to quietly resurrect Kelben, having him secretly prepare things.

Once she had negotiated with Coron, she would reveal Black Staff to the public, provided he stayed hidden in the Magic Tower; it was quite discreet.

So how did Coron know?

Toril’s deities were never omnipotent; many methods could block their sight.

Just like Hill’s floating castle, he didn’t use his most powerful defenses, but unless faced with a being of great divine power or an entity like Suren, other deities couldn’t perceive through it.

With the support of the Goddess of Magic, the Tower of the Black Staff would be even stronger, no question.

Hill mulled it over for a while but still couldn’t find a reason and eventually decided to wait.

”Lynn,” Hill called softly, ”Perhaps we should have them rest now! If something truly happens, we should be fully prepared.”

Lynn nodded in agreement, understanding that from then on, these matters would be for him to discuss with Oste and the others.

Hill wouldn’t expend his energy on such things.

What he had done so far was already out of consideration for their shared Elven bloodline.

When Hill returned to the Floating Castle, he used vines and large trees to create hundreds of tree houses in the small forest behind his territory.

A dense forest 300 meters wide separated them from the large residential area, which should prevent any problems.

These elves had probably come into contact with many humans over the past year in Mystrian.

But to be honest, having coexisted with the Fey Demons for so long, the Elf Crusade seemed only exceedingly zealous about pursuing Elven glory, likely not too difficult to get along with—or rather, while their heads were always held high, they wouldn’t go looking for trouble.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have waited until now to completely break ties with the Fey Demons.

No matter how flawed humans were, their temperaments were far better than those fairies.

Hill’s actions were surely partly influenced by Lynn, but the main reason was the arrival of the Undead Tribe.

Although he didn’t know what Coron would do, the Undead Tribe would certainly arrive on Toril as allies of the elves.

Hill hoped to maintain a friendly relationship with the elves during this time.

As Hill sat in his study deep in thought, another visitor arrived.

A beautiful transcendental elf, adorned in a sky blue cloak with a large crescent moon-shaped amulet around the neck and flashing dazzling battle iron gloves on the hands, appeared gracefully before Hill.

Hill slowly stood up, bowing to the true form of this father of elves.

”Ah! Hill of Teraxil, it is our first time meeting directly! However, I have heard your name quite often. The World Tree is quite fond of you,” Coron said with a radiant smile, exceptionally beautiful.

Looking at the androgynous Coron, Hill could only muster an awkward smile.

”Don’t worry. I have come merely to inform you that Mystra has already approached AO to intercede,” Coron raised an eyebrow, his tone slightly hostile, ”For the sake of the story on the Tablets of Fate continuing smoothly, AO would certainly agree to some relatively harmless requests.

In his view, no matter how many outsiders come, as long as they lack divinity or aren’t an Archmage beyond level 40, they pose no threat.

Before encountering the ones summoned by Teraxil, I thought the same.

Thus, I too, learned many lessons.

Although many deities witnessed the foolishness at Felunryel, that was after the advent of the Undead Tribe, with only a fraction of the threat remaining.

The Star Gate is nearly completed, with AO’s help, it should be done in about three days.

Seeing that you are ready, I will set the course.

Expect to see some long-unseen old friends in at most seven days.”

Hill nodded slightly, ”That’s wonderful.”

”Curious about how I discovered Kelben?” Coron asked with a mischievous smile, noting Hill’s immediate attentive look. He revealed a meaningful grin, ”You should thank yourself for that, dear Hill.

Did you know how shocked I was when I received a message from Shaer?

You truly have a talent for persuading that lady for assistance, considering she quite dislikes me.”

”Lady Shaer has always liked the Undead Tribe,” Hill replied calmly, mentally adding ’the leaders’ as a clarification.

Coron scoffed dismissively, clearly understanding the situation.

However, the swift information network of the Lady of the Night was somewhat intimidating, prompting Coron to hold his tongue to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Seated nonchalantly at Hill’s desk with feet propped up, Coron tilted his head and asked, ”Though your Elven bloodline is faint, the part inherited from me remains intact.

The earth and nature, while different, have always been harmoniously united.

Just as the World Tree and the elves originally come from the same universe, no, I should say, I was born atop the World Tree, with nature being the source of life for the elves.

Your universal favor surely stems from my bloodline, as the World Tree, a reclusive entity, wouldn’t provide such appeal.

So, wouldn’t you offer some delightful treats for your old ancestor?

Even Suren gets some.”

Hill couldn’t help but glare at Coron. He had indeed realized this long ago.

Otherwise, he would not have claimed the Gold Elven bloodline on Toril, for he genuinely possessed it.

As a Nature’s Protector, Hill disliked lying, opting mainly for obfuscation.

The Earth Bear’s bloodline had purged most of the Elf Blood, leaving behind a stubborn trace of divinity.

If not for the Crystal Flower acting as an intermediary, the divinity of the Earth Bear wouldn’t have thoroughly rejected the Elf Blood, and Hill wouldn’t have survived.

Otherwise, the fragment from the Goddess of the Earth wouldn’t have faced a nearly impossible birth.

In many ways, Hill was fortunate his soul was robust, or he couldn’t have endured passing through the World Membrane.

But Hill refused to admit it.

The thought that this trace of divinity came from the Elven God King made Hill very distressed.

Actually, from the gift given by the Elven God King, it was clear he knew Hill’s identity back then.

That Mystery Rein Ring was an artifact of the Elf God, with inherent restrictions regarding the user.

Non-elves could suffer side effects from its frequent use.

Hill discovered this later, given his vastly superior attributes, he felt no ill effects.

However, for humans, repeated use could impair intellect, a form of sacrifice.

Hill doubted the Elven God King had the wit to ascertain his identity; it must have been Coron’s doing, observing Teraxil’s every move after his son’s substantial defeat.

Hill sighed, instructing List to send a variety of foods to his affectionate yet shameless Elven ancestor.

Coron undoubtedly desired dishes made from fruits Hill had grown himself.

Hill suddenly remembered something, asking Coron, who was selecting and packaging food, ”Why did Mystra insist on reviving Kelben?

That guy didn’t just offend the elves! Plenty of human deities despise him as well.

The cost of doing so is too high, isn’t it?”

”She’s different from the previous two,” Coron sneered, ”Her current Chosen are all inherited. She can only patch things up to get by.”

Mystra couldn’t even wield Silverfire? No, it was Suren.

Suren disliked her, no longer lending any power to Mystra anymore.

It was no wonder Coron had prepared thoroughly without considering Mystra’s patience. She must not have even consulted the Deity of Mages.
