Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 720: Chapter 519: The Chaotic Moment of the Ferun Great Land

The Ferun Great Land was engulfed in tumultuous upheaval.

The fall of two Archmages and the emergence of a new city—no, not just one.

Almost a week after Kelben’s fall, the leader of the fey demons, Cyric Militar, and the Elf Crusade returning from Eternity Island recaptured Mistral from the clutches of the Infernal Plague.

If the success of Remanx City was somewhat daunting due to the self-sacrifice of the two Archmages, the heavy casualties in Mistral fully ignited the ambitions of the Ferun people.

The city of Mistral meant too much.

Just the Netherscrolls alone, housed within the Windsong Tower, were enough to drive the mages of the entire continent mad, and Hill was somewhat tempted as well.

It was the crystallization of the greatest arcane wisdom of once-great Netheril.

Hill could not help but long to glimpse at them; just the words ’Netherscrolls’ made his heart race, not to mention that this set was hidden inside the Sorcerer Tower.

But he still had his wits about him.

Even if he reached Mistral, Hill wasn’t certain he dared approach the tower.

Anyone daring to do so would be watched by all of the Toril Universe, and Hill had no desire to live a life where he couldn’t set foot outside.

He could stay indoors, but it had to be because he didn’t want to leave, not because he couldn’t.

Nevertheless, many mages across the Ferun Great Land could no longer control their sanity.

Hill even had to elevate his Water Maze Lock into the clouds to prevent those insane mages from suddenly descending as they passed by.

Hill’s Floating Castle seemed to attract the attention of these mages, but he had no intention of hosting any guests.

In the small town below, the paladins of Tyr increased the intensity of their patrols; they didn’t take kindly to these somewhat neurotic mages.

The mages of Toril had a really poor attitude towards commoners, or rather, anyone incapable of learning spells.

And the Paladins of the Silver Shield always had strong pride.

If it wasn’t for the presence of the Magic Lock, which made these mages very cautious, not daring to cause trouble easily, they might have already come to blows.

The Archmages were still watching the situation and hadn’t shown any great urgency.

On the other hand, the Junior Mages, perhaps harboring thoughts that they might receive Tymora’s Kiss, rushed crazily towards that place.

Hill even noticed some mages heading to Agleya Temple to collect water: if they were so thrifty as to save even a 0-level Water Creation Spell, Hill truly thought they were courting death.

In the ruins of Mistral, there lurked not only some remaining members of the Abyssal Races but also bases of the Dragon Worship Church and senior members of Bane’s Church!

Especially the Dragon Worship Church, they were in dire need of materials for creating Dragon People, and these mages offering themselves up were perfect for the taking.

During this time, each time Hill looked towards the East, towards the Supreme Wastes, he could only feel the sky there laden with the clouds of war.

Although Iseviel, the daughter of the fey demon king Cyric, became the new Crowned King, the Netheril Arcanists who had returned for years were not about to easily hand over the city.

After all, these fairies and elves succeeded thanks to several years of hard work by these Arcanists.

They had just finished eliminating all the aberrations in the ruins when these elves and fey stole everything from under their noses.

However, for hundreds of years, there had been Swordsmen Orders and Knight Corps composed of elves stubbornly resisting in the ruins, so they couldn’t credit all glory to Arcane.

With the powerful combined forces of elves and fey, these Arcanists had no choice but to step back, but the Netherese were not truly without options.

It was just a matter of the cost being too high, and the Arcanists still hesitated.

However, if by the end, no Arcanist could lay hands on the Nether Scroll that was disguised as a hidden knowledge in the golden shrubbery within the Trident Peak Sorcerer School, they were not without their ultimate move.

Hill decided to hurry over to see Mistral once the initial construction was complete, otherwise, by next year, the once-great city would probably be completely destroyed, even the ruins.

There wouldn’t be many good days in these two years, and he could only seize the brief peace amidst the chaos to take a good tour.

The mages aimed for Mistral, while other professions sought to find treasures in the wastes.

The long-abandoned Supreme Wastes have, during this time, been flooded by countless Adventurers.

In their eyes, with so many others going, perhaps fortune would smile upon them.

The demons, Undead, and devilry hidden in those ruins couldn’t extinguish the flaming fires of their desires.

Deepwater City and Neverwinter, even Baldur’s Gate striving to recover its vigor, suddenly saw countless ships arriving from the south.

All ports were bustling, and many Sea Merchants simply docked their ships via the Riven River at Silvermoon City; now nobody had any intention of going elsewhere.

Sailors became a scarce resource to hire.

People of all sorts poured fanatically into the Northern Continent.

Even Luskan, with a populace mainly comprised of Pirates and Evil Forces, became overcrowded within just a few days.

Hill had a bit of trouble too.

After Agleya officially ascended to godhood, Hill declared his domain a permanent zone of neutrality.

The eyes of Sea God Agleya only wished to gaze upon the ocean, not to meddle in any troubles on the Ferun Great Land.

Of course, the reason Hill did this was actually in preparation for the potential arrival of the Undead Tribe.

Before their arrival, Hill must establish his own domain’s style; otherwise, he would certainly be led in an unknown direction by the Undead Tribe.

But now, some Northern Natives who did not want to get involved in these troubles simply ran to Hill’s domain.

They hoped to settle down here.

The outsider status of Agleya and Hill, at this time, made them seem somewhat more trustworthy; at the very least, they were not the kind to amass followers and slowly declare themselves king.

And even though the town was small, its location was excellent, with Deepwater City to the south and Neverwinter to the north.

Hill’s deities included Tyr, the God of Justice, and his allies were the Harpist and the dragon queen of the Silvermoon Alliance, who liked to farm. Most people in The North still believed that Agleya Town was indeed a true land of neutrality.

And this neutrality referred to political neutrality, not alignment.

From lord to Main God, it was obvious that Agleya Town was a member of the Kind Alignment.

It’s true that most of the time, Toril people complained about Tyr being too meddlesome and strict, but when it came to it, they displayed absolute trust in him.

The inhabitants of Neverwinter didn’t make much fuss, at most visiting Tyr’s Temple a bit more often.

Moreover, after so long, everyone knew that even if thunder roared endlessly over Hill’s domain, ordinary people would never get their hands on a Dragon Egg.

Terry’s dad also would come to town for a drink and a stroll when he had nothing else to do. When he felt good, he would just transform into a dragon and return to the mountains.

Even some of the Dragon People sent by the Silvermoon Dragon Queen as a gift remained and did not return, taking up residence on a cliff near the main road in the Sword Mountain Range.

These Dragon People would follow Terry from now on. Even the Golden Dragons and Silver Dragons, who always seemed indifferent to Terry, finally lost their composure.

Although they still acted as if they were simply letting Terry take care of a group of Dragon People with big appetites for them, even the naive Terry wouldn’t believe such an explanation.

These past few days, he’s been bothering Silverywing at his home every day, hoping to learn a bit of the truth. Terry is a bit worried about whether his parents are in trouble.

Velara Malendith did write a letter to Hill: the Giant Dragons are uncertain about the future of the Ferun Great Land, and even some Chromatic Dragons have started to prepare for the worst recently.

Even the complete departure of the terrible Dragon Madness had not induced such a sense of urgency in the Giant Dragons before.

The year that countless Giant Dragons died didn’t give them such a feeling either.

She and Silverywing are willing to do everything to protect their domain, but that excludes Terry.

She hopes that if something untoward happens in Toril, Hill could take Terry away with him.

After all, Terry doesn’t have many ties to Toril, and leaving the Toril Universe wouldn’t be a great loss for him.

In the name of gratitude for saving her son, she sent a cartload of beautiful and seemingly precious flowers and trees, all cultivated by her to naturally grow in the North.

But what was truly valuable was a wooden box that seemed to contain seeds of almost all the plants in Toril.

The ordinary-looking box emitted strange vibrations, and Hill recognized it without appraisal as being made from the branches of the Tree of Life.

This was the most extravagant seed preservation method Hill had seen, but it indeed could preserve the seeds for tens of thousands of years without any problems.

After some thought, Hill simply accepted the gifts.

He didn’t know whether the Giant Dragons were sensing a world collapse in ten years or the imminent arrival of the Undead, but it was certainly not good news for them.

Hill, having accepted the gifts, of course, also accepted those Silver Dragon People.

However, the Silvermoon Dragon Queen wasn’t lying about one thing; they really had big appetites.

After List’s puppets delivered a day’s worth of food, he warned Hill that the sausages and smoked meats he initially bought wouldn’t be enough for these creatures for a month.

In the end, Hill could only find a valley in the Sword Mountain Range, plant fast-growing grass there, and send in lots of livestock like pigs, cows, and sheep for the Dragon People to manage by themselves.

Silverywing even came to Hill specifically to ask for some grass seeds, wanting to scatter them in his own hunting ground.

But those who wanted to settle probably just wanted to live peacefully.

Those with a bit of ambition would not consider living next to Tyr’s Holy Knights or near a group of well-informed Harpists.

They had already grown bored with such a small town’s petty disputes and had turned them into songs.

This even infuriated the daughter of a Paladin, causing her to dump a basin of foot-washing water at the entrance to their building.
