Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 715: Chapter 514: Hill Actually Changed Something

Terry fell into deep thought.

He sat on the railing of the terrace, surrendering the layer of protection he had and letting the cold torrential rain hit his face directly.

He looked around carelessly as if observing the diverse humans on the ground.

The storm was intense, the water from the Undead Swamp had already spread onto the main road within moments.

Hill also looked contentedly at his recent achievements.

Marsha had long controlled the shops on the business street, extending long transparent awnings from the rooftops on either side that joined high above the center of the street.

The rain ’plash-plash’ fell on the awnings, even the ladies from the Tyr Temple had come out from their homes to view the street turned into a corridor.

They joyfully passed by the vegetable and fruit shop, the rice and spices shop, the general goods store, the clothing and jewelry store, the fur shop, the clock shop, and the florist, finally stopping at the L-shaped café at the end of the corridor.

There was a forest beyond.

Sitting at the rows of small tables in front of the café, watching the forest in the heavy rain, and drinking a warm cup of coffee, the girls all seemed very joyful.

This was a facility added by Hill after the last heavy downpour, he did not want to use the power of the Water Maze Lock just to block the rain.

Merchants from Neverwinter and Deepwater City stood on that road, discussing eagerly among themselves.

There had been heavy rain this year, and the merchants, similarly afflicted, were very interested in such convenient awnings.

If their business streets also had such things, the business would be much better as not many people wish to shop in the rain.

Terry knew that if Hill wanted to sell this invention, it would definitely make a lot of money, just like the Spell Storage Rings recently praised exuberantly by his dad.

Even some Chromatic Dragons had come to buy a few, after all, the price could not possibly be lower than it was.

Terry sighed leisurely, ”You know, Hill? My dad and mom have always had a psychic connection.

Although they are not together, they chat every day and know what the other is doing.”

If I were exposed, I’d face more than just one trouble.

You’re right, even if I got my hands on the treasure, I’d just look at it, so it’s better to endure for a year.

That’s a form of cultivation too!

Endurance, for a dragon, is truly a painful thought~”

Committed to enduring for a while, Terry could only sigh deeply and sigh shallowly, knowing there was a vast fortune out there, yet unable to even look, a suffering no dragon could tolerate.

The Little Golden Dragon finally understood what it means that strength is the currency of freedom, if he were stronger than both his unscrupulous parents combined, he should be rolling in Gold Coins by now.

He could smell the dragon scent on that key, Gem Dragons were naturally good at finding things, and the Amethyst Dragon was particularly adept at it.

Moreover, there was indeed a fortune in the cave back then, though it wasn’t enough to be considered a treasure; it was rather suited for a Half-Dragon’s identity.

Terry had always suspected that his parents had smelled those fortunes, though Hill had helped him conceal the warehouse. Dragons, being such long-lived creatures, could smell whether there had been Gold Coins in their locale a year ago or not.

And beneath the scales on his neck, there was even a Divine Artifact pendant hidden!

While the Divine Artifact could save Terry’s life, his parents hadn’t peeped a word, and that bit of money wasn’t worth their effort.

But if it were the treasure of an ancient Amethyst Dragon, Terry definitely didn’t believe his parents would still show any paternal love if they knew of it!

No matter the pain, he had to endure! Terry shivered in the cold rain, that money was all his!

He abruptly changed the subject, ”Hill, that thing you put on my roof is amazing!

The thunder from Deepwater City is even drawn over here!

My dad is worried now, and he hasn’t even sent out the blueprints for this thing.

He is the type who never hurries, always leisurely researching.

Now my mom must be mocking him for his lack of urgency ending up in vain stress!”

Hill couldn’t help but smile, truly a millennium’s worth of love between the couple.

In this Toril World, where affection seems somewhat cheap, it’s the couple of the Golden Dragon and Silver Dragon that makes one feel the beauty of love.

Stories of others’ affections seem like sensory impulses, parting ways once the ardor fades, and those who live long generally have more lovers.

And the couples that do last are mostly those hooked by life-saving grace and body-pledging loyalty.

But they can’t like these two dragons, always displaying their loving affection.

”If you’re happy, then that’s good.” Hill would not comment on his son’s parents, ”How’s your learning of the bartender’s job?”

”Lynn is incredible!” Terry said admiringly, ”These days, no one even dares to make trouble at my tavern.

Although there were no big issues before, minor frictions were constant.

Lynn didn’t really do much, but with just one glance as he wiped the glasses, those guys would calm down!

I really want to learn that skill!”

Hill couldn’t help laughing: ”Then you should try your best to keep Lynn around for a longer period, and make it difficult for him to leave your territory if possible.”

”Isn’t he the Sheriff of Quelva?” Terry asked tilting his head, ”He spent hundreds of years securing that position, it couldn’t be easy for him to give it up, right?”

”If it had been before, probably he wouldn’t bear to leave.” Hill said slowly, ”But who lets now be different from then?

Terry, the decline of the Dragon Race, affects not just yourselves.

Elves were the same, humans no longer needed the help of elves as much.

After a change in status, people’s style would also change, even the tone of their speech might be different!

For an elf like Lynn, who had a very strong sense of self-respect, those days might not be bearable.

”After this year, there will definitely be many elves and half-elves returning to the forest and Eternity Island.”

Hill thought that this was actually not bad, at least ten years later, he wouldn’t foolishly face a world that was torn apart and rebuilt, with completely altered geography.

After Mystra’s death this time, who knows how many poor souls will appear, searching for their way home.

Terry blinked, ”That’s why my parents now prefer to do things themselves, or else they just hand it over to those half-dragon people under my dad’s command.

Sometimes, they would even prefer to give some opportunities to Bahamut’s subordinates.

Before, they were unwilling to let other giant dragons enter their territory.

Are they not even that confident in the Harpists now?”

Hill could only comfort him, ”It will be better once this turmoil is over. Not every human will attack elves and giant dragons, but currently, the giant dragons dare not bet on whether human nature could change or not.

They haven’t completely stopped dealing with humans, isn’t Elaströ still on your parents’ trusted list?”

Terry’s expression darkened slightly, ”It’s different, Elaströ can’t help them with the trivial matters.

Do you remember my mom saying she wanted to send you a gift?

The half-dragon people can frighten humans with their appearance, so they have to take detours, and they haven’t arrived even now.

If it were before, these tasks would have been entrusted to the Harpists, and they probably would have arrived by now.

No wonder my mom said that Bahamut is getting restless too.

His Northern Wind Country might start allowing giant dragons to settle there.

If I weren’t here with you, my mom would have sent me there too.

Luckily, I have you as a friend; my luck is truly good.”

Hill just smiled faintly, not planning to say much.

Terry’s luck was indeed good, he had already remembered why he saw no trace of Terry in the stories he knew.

According to the original storyline, the only son of the Golden Dragon and the Silver Dragon died at the hands of the Dragon Worship Church.

From then on, they were sworn enemies with the Dragon Worship Church, thoroughly following Elaströ, and even Velara Malendith eventually became Elaströ’s successor.

Silverywing, it seemed, had also always hinted that he would protect his home even if it meant perishing with the enemy.

The two dragons who lost their beloved son were always sad, even when they smiled.

In their lives, there remained only their careers and their enemies.

But now, it was a completely different story.

Velara Malendith and Silverywing had neither become eternal enemies with the Dragon Worship Church nor had they given everything to the Silvermoon Alliance.

Now, as a couple, they worked only for Elaströ, being this lady’s most loyal friends. They didn’t have to bother with other people from Silvermoon Alliance, which was much safer.

That lady, after all, knew how to handle matters proportionately, and even a decade after the collapse of the Weave, no significant trouble had arisen.

Hill liked this current story, so seeing Terry’s little troubles also felt quite enjoyable.

He really couldn’t imagine his adorable Golden Dragon friend ending up as someone else’s collection, even in death.

He gently looked at Terry trying to calm himself in the cold rain, and smiled quietly.

The reason Velara Malendith was at ease letting Terry play outside wasn’t because she believed Hill could protect him.

It was because it wasn’t as dangerous anymore.

The Dragon Worship Church was now controlled by some Dragon Liches, and their internal strife was fierce as they consolidated their own power rather than continuing to make enemies.

So the direction of the Dragon Worship Church was no longer about turning dragons into Dragon Liches.

For these Dragon Liches, they preferred to turn humans into lower-level Dragonkin Liches.

Subservient and able to work, much more useful than having to fight a death battle with their former kin.

These guys had already broadcast their intentions, and even the Chromatic Dragon Queen had approved it.

Who could blame them when Chromatic Dragons died more than Metal Dragons!

The giant dragons on the Ferun Great Land now had less worry from the Dragon Lich side and could act more freely.

In the past, Silverywing would definitely not dare to leave his territory for so long, nor let Terry stay in such a chaotic place.

Terry soon left, he still had to learn mixology!

Hill continued watching the commercial street below.

Merchants from Deepwater City brought some young male adventurers, who were constantly eyeing the young ladies dressed in long skirts, leisurely drinking coffee by the streetside.

The carefree, lively aura they emitted indeed attracted the male gaze.

Everything seemed so normal.

But Hill became alert, these adventurers were a bit too exceptional.
