Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 718: Chapter 517: The Divine Authority of Agleya

Lynn followed Hill and Agleya with hesitation, looking at Terry without knowing what had happened.

But he quickly understood.

Terry’s golden dragon skin had turned to the color of red copper.

It seemed like white smoke was coming out of his ears, and even his usually agile eyes were stiff and motionless.

His tail thumped the ground heavily, as if to encourage himself.

Hill was startled and quickly stood up to persuade him, ”Terry!

If you can’t eat it, spit it out quickly. This is the spiciest part, I can’t eat it either!

When Agleya eats it, she always wraps a layer of ice around the rabbit’s head!”

Terry stubbornly shook his head and a crisp sound of bone cracking came from his wide-open dragon mouth. He actually chewed and swallowed the entire rabbit head.

Then the golden dragon rushed straight to the terrace connected to the dining area and spewed out a magnificent gold and red flame into the sky.

Hill fell silent.

The gold and red flame obviously had a much higher temperature than the flames Terry usually practiced with.

Could it be that chili peppers really could be used as materials for flame spells?

He almost thought he had remembered the spellcasting materials incorrectly.

”Ah! So spicy! But it feels so good!” A relieved Terry walked in slowly, ”Hill, what kind of chili is this? It’s even more powerful than the spiciest chili you can buy in Ferun!

We giant dragons, except for Blue Dragons, all have a high tolerance for spicy food, you know~

Spiciness really is a great flavor that stimulates our bloodline.

My mom has a chili garden, and she’s planted chilies from other continents too!

You like seeds, right? When those Half-Dragon People finally show up, get them to bring some seedless chilies to my mom!

She definitely won’t give you the seeds from her chili garden, those are her treasures.

But for this, she would surely be willing to give away all her chili seeds!”

Hill was silent for a few seconds before he said to the golden dragon who was wholeheartedly duping his own mother, ”Aren’t you going to ask me for seeds as a gift for her?

Or are you saying, you don’t need to give your mom gifts during holidays or festivals?”

”Why should I?” Terry’s eyes widened, ”Hill, you don’t think my Gold Coins were gifts from my mom, do you?

That’s the compensation I got from helping her dig and farm the land since I was young!

You know, even though I did the same work, the compensation I got was half less than what outsiders hired for the job got!

The only benefit I had was that I could choose the type of Gold Coins from the treasury myself.

She even tried to trick me into choosing the least valuable Silver Gold Coins!

Among giant dragons, no matter the relationship, nothing is given away for free.

Raising a child isn’t just about providing food and drink, is it?”

Oh~ right, Hill suddenly realized, giant dragons even learn basic knowledge through the inheritances in their Dragon Crystals and, before they come of age, they could also access their parents’ libraries.

The Golden and Silver Dragons showed a lot of love for Terry, but upon reflection, Hill realized they only cared about Terry’s life.

Lynn couldn’t help but glance at the gloves Terry had placed on the table: ”Didn’t your dad give you those treasure gloves?”

”That was my coming-of-age gift!” Terry spoke blankly, ”Mom gave me five Luck Gems from the Golden Dragon Land, dad gave me a pair of gloves, and then I could do whatever I wanted.

Unfortunately, during that unlucky incident that Hill saved me from last time, I already used four of them. It’ll take me another 20 years before I can make those Luck Gems myself!

However, most giant dragons don’t even get such gifts when they come of age. Spoiling a child and giving them gifts are two different concepts.

You don’t understand, in dragon society, my parents were really very good.

They allowed me to hunt in their hunting grounds even after I became an adult!

Most giant dragons would be doing well just to allow their children to live on their own territory, but to share a hunting ground with them, how could that be possible!

The same goes for those city-dwelling dragons. They live close by and know each other well, but they don’t share their hunting grounds.

It’s just that if a dragon gets lazy, they can buy prey from humans.

But such practices can’t be too frequent. Three cows a day, and everyone knows it’s a dragon.

Those who run restaurants need to be careful too. They must never stick to one type of food, or the humans will always figure out that the numbers don’t add up.”

Terry continued to share many life taboos of giant dragons before saying, ”The reason why my identity being exposed isn’t a problem is that everyone knows this place is completely controlled by Hill.

It’s the perpetual mist that ensures no one troubles me.

Even so, people still try to lure me out of the territory.

But your Puzzle Lock and the protective arrays in the buildings are strong enough that anyone who uses any spell on me will be immediately marked.”

”At first, I did indeed kill quite a few dragon slayers!”

I think Hill must have dealt with his fair share of these guys, right?

Once the fools were mostly dead, things quieted down for me.

My dad told me that in the few days after I revealed my identity, Deepwater City sold quite a few of those dragon slaying suits designed to swindle idiots.

These crazy folks aren’t afraid of my powerful parents, especially some Dwarves.

If given the chance, my mom and dad wouldn’t hesitate to take action.

Before the Dragon Worship Church came about, the most bothersome enemies for the Giant Dragons were these folks.

’Great Dragon Slayer’ is a title many Humans and Dwarves like, even if they end up being retaliated against by the Giant Dragons and their whole family gets killed, they still prefer it.

However, most are fools who can’t even defeat a White Dragon, and the smarter ones wouldn’t think of laying a hand on Metal Dragons.”

Lynn couldn’t help but look up at Terry, no wonder this guy isn’t worried about those dragon eggs.

Turns out, he has adults at home.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”Isn’t it normal for those who dare to make a move knowing they’re in my territory to die by my hand?

The Puzzle Lock is actually pretty lethal, those who want to make a move could die without even realizing it!”

”Then why don’t you just finish off those Adventurers?” Terry asked, tilting his head, ”This is also a challenge to you, isn’t it?”

”That won’t do, Terry,” Hill began to laugh, ”When you really want to stop something with violence, the only way is to take out both sides.

Otherwise, the person you’re trying to protect will start to see you as the Devil King and consider themselves the Princess needing to be saved.

I have no interest in being some sort of test to romance, nor do I want to keep an eye on this type of thing all the time.”

Lynn couldn’t help but take another glance at Hill; unlike Terry, Lynn could hear the profound understanding in Hill’s brief words.

I really don’t know how Hill, despite his young age, is so worldly-wise.

Most of the Eternal Race are like Terry, acting like children around the age of 100 with no difference from greenhorns.

Hill didn’t say much more; he only planned to stay on guard for this period.

Once Kelben is left with nothing but his mouth, not many people will set their sights on this small town of his.

Kelben really thinks that he, left with nothing but his soul, could still call the shots from inside the Black Staff Tower, how deluded that is.

Even his own students would betray him without hesitation, let alone continue to deal with Kelben’s enemies at his behest.

Only pitiful creatures with nowhere to turn would listen to Kelben’s directives, and such people, simply don’t have the capability to lay hands on Hill again.

Hill sneered, by then all he need do is remind the girls’ fathers once more.

Whatever happens after that, let it be! He’s not a nanny anyway.

The reason he’s stepping in this time is only because Kelben acts too despicably, he would never settle for a sad conclusion, likely leading to many deaths.

Hill doesn’t want anyone to encounter misfortune because of him, that’s why he chooses to settle it this way.

He’s certain that for at least a year, these girls won’t think any Adventurer is bright and handsome again.

Agleya widened her eyes and said, ”I’ll be watching out for that too! There better not be any~

And now, every drop of water here will tell me what happens.

Hill’s Dad! This place is almost like our home now, even the air feels comfortable to me.”

Hill spoke to her gently, ”Now that Toril has accepted you and turned your Temple into a ground-based Divine Kingdom, Agleya, you should experience the true ocean, starting with the seas of Sword Bay!”

He held back a thought: Take the chance to drive out Ambori’s Divine Power from the waters of Sword Bay.

Not accepting divine faith doesn’t mean he rejects people’s reverence; Toril never had many exclusive believers to begin with, it’s quite normal to seek a god’s blessing based on whose realm it falls under.

Hill hopes that in the future when sailors encounter storms at sea, they won’t just cry ’pray to Ambori for protection.’

At the very least, here in Sword Bay, they should shout a few ’implore Agleya’s watchful eyes’!

That was all they ever hoped for in the beginning.

Agleya doesn’t accept faith; she has to slowly integrate and engage with Toril’s Marine Law, which is a lengthy process.

That’s pretty good actually, Agleya never intended to be the sole Sea God of Toril.

And with this avatar, the slow growth of Divine Power means she won’t be seen as a threat by AO and get thrown out of the Prime Material Plane.

Agleya nodded vigorously, ”I will, from now on I’ll be living in the Temple! Toril’s seas actually welcome me very much.

The Marine Law has been urging me to connect with her all this time, but as Hill’s Dad said, I must first be acknowledged by the world of Toril.

Just now, I’ve gained a tenth of the control over the Marine Law, and the rest will have to come gradually.”

”What?” Terry and Lynn exclaimed in surprise, looking at Agleya.

”What’s wrong?” Agleya looked back innocently, ”I am the Sea God, aren’t I? You guys knew that already, didn’t you? The Marine Law inherently loves me.”

”Ambori, what has she got left now?” Terry asked, holding up a huge fork, a puzzled expression on his face, ”If I remember correctly, her control over the Law was at most one-tenth. Right? Lynn.”

Lynn softly replied, ”That tenth part has even been snatched away by Talos.”
