Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 299: Chapter 102: Hill Made Two Preparations

Hill had a strange feeling that he wouldn’t be able to stand in the starry sky for much longer.

The world was urging him to turn back quickly, or he would never be able to return.

With one last forceful glance at the broken planet, Hill grabbed hold of the Line of Destiny in his hand.

The intense pull warmed his heart.

Someone was eagerly awaiting his return.

Closing his eyes and pulling hard, Hill felt himself plummet downwards sharply; he had returned to his body.

And then Hill felt an incredibly strong power within his body.

The legacy of the Earth Bear! Hill gently clenched his fist. Could he possibly shatter a mountain with a single slap now?

Hill shook his head. Never mind, it wasn’t important. If a situation ever arose where he had to use his strength, it could save his life!

What mattered most now was the Natural Consciousness cheering around him and the four beautiful Law Lines still entwined on his hand.

From now on, Hill needed only to move his fingers to manipulate the laws of Wind, Water, Earth, and Wood.

Fran and Adrian floated far outside Hill Valley, gazing at the beautiful scenery in the sky.

”The legendary promotion of a Nature Warlock is so different,” Adrian marveled. ”Do the laws always appear so beautiful?”

”Hill has given up the laws of Fire and Thunder,” Fran sighed, not responding to Adrian. ”Does he have no interest in understanding the destructive part of nature’s laws? But this is also a part of nature!”

”He doesn’t want to become the Nature God,” Adrian said. ”He doesn’t like spells with complete destruction, so why waste energy studying them? Hill can use them, but Warlocks have always liked to follow their heart. If they have spells in their Mental Sea and Magic Ring that they find irritating, it could torment them.”

”That might not be true,” Fran snorted coldly. ”If he really didn’t want to become a Deity, he would study these two kinds of spells.”

Adrian gave Fran a puzzled look, not understanding his meaning.

”Nature System Deities can’t possess both,” Fran said slowly. ”It’s either life or destruction. Having both is like arm-wrestling with the World Will. The world wouldn’t allow such a Deity to exist.”

”Then it doesn’t matter!” Adrian muttered. ”Hill wants to walk the path of a Mage, so he won’t choose rules he dislikes. If he doesn’t succeed in the end, becoming a Nature System Deity wouldn’t be so bad either.”

Fran nodded helplessly. ”His Sorcerer Bloodline makes his path as a Mage very difficult. It’s just a pity for his alchemical talents.”

Adrian knew Fran would be emotional because without the Fire Element Laws, reaching the level of an Alchemist Master would be the end for Hill. And he could only become an Alchemist Master of a single type.

Adrian rolled his eyes secretly. Fran could never understand that becoming an Alchemist Master of a single type was the ultimate dream for most people.

Fran, being an Alchemist Master of all categories, was a rarity, an extinct genius that appeared once in ten thousand years!

Adrian wished Fran would give up his extravagant hope that Adrian could also become an all-encompassing Alchemist Master.

He was only capable of creating legendary-level items by following blueprints closely. His real talent lay solely in alchemical potions! He was a one-stringed lute player, incapable of playing Fran’s multi-stringed harp!

Adrian looked at the serene and clear sky of the valley, secretly envying Hill’s escape from the sea of suffering.

Hill didn’t give up Fire and Thunder Element Spells for nothing. After all, these two types of spells had enough destructive power to capture any aspiring Mage’s effort and pursuit.

Even though he could already engrave some simple Fire Element Runes and Thunder Element Runes in his Mental Sea, and even had Metal System Runes.

These runes came drawn by other elements but always seemed to keep their distance from Hill.

Fire and Thunder Elements were intimate with Wind Runes, but even beside Wind Runes, Hill found them difficult to mobilize.

Using them required almost as much effort as Hill drawing the rune models himself. If used together with Wind Runes, it was slightly easier.

He thought he might construct spells like the Wind Fire Wheel in the future, but this required a deep familiarity with Fire Element Laws, so he might as well wait for someone else to invent it.

After all, once he reached the legendary level, constructing spells would take just a few seconds.

So, after much consideration, Hill decided to abandon the path filled with laws he found uncomfortable, choosing only to bring the laws of Wood, Water, Wind, and Earth into the legendary world.

Resolving to go with the flow and not trouble himself, Hill never considered that possessing both life and destruction laws would allow him to challenge the World Will and become the most powerful deity on this continent.

No matter how powerful he became, Hill’s inner self remained serene, carefree, and uninhibited.

He always planned his life to be free and comfortable, never harboring ambitions to compete with the heavens.

Hill never dwelled on the regrets of abandoning certain laws.

He always remembered that if it weren’t for fate’s favor, he would still be the little warlock struggling with the Earth Bear Bloodline, eventually contently becoming a legendary earth-system figure.

Regardless of what came his way, Hill could always find the silently and proudly growing tree within his heart, rooted in the earth.

With a single thought, the wind swiftly carried Hill to the top of the Magic Tower.

From now on, within the reach of Hill’s spiritual power, the wind could quickly transport him to wherever he wished to go.

He raised his head and saw the people waiting for him outside.

Glancing around at the elements and creatures in deep meditation, Hill instantly flew to the valley entrance.

He planned to open a door there to welcome Fran and Adrian, who were waiting outside.

However, after achieving the legendary level and with his spiritual power now able to radiate much further.

He finally understood why Fran had been so satisfied with the location of his Magic Tower.

Hill’s spiritual power had to be unbelievably strong, at the demigod level, to reach Fran’s territory, otherwise, it would always fall short by a few hundred meters.

Hill realized he needed to learn more from Fran and stop living so recklessly. Nature’s Blessing couldn’t protect him forever.

Just as Hill opened the door in the Magic Barrier, Fran and Adrian landed rapidly before him.

Fran looked at Hill, who was greeting him, and nodded with satisfaction.

Although not on the traditional Mage’s path, Hill’s aura was stable and powerful.

His journey to the legendary level had been steady; there was no need to worry.

After all, the direction beyond the legendary level was unknown, and it was up to each Mage to explore and find their way over a long period.

And Hill’s bloodline meant he might live longer than anyone else.

Being a Magister, he was destined to live at least ten thousand years.

Fran never worried about Hill’s lifespan; he feared that Hill might perish prematurely, but as a legendary figure, a Mage who could manipulate laws wouldn’t be easily killed.

Fran silently walked into the valley and curiously glanced around, knowing that Hill must have had a reason for not disabling the defensive shield, but he didn’t expect to see such a scene.

”Why is the defense still so tight?” Adrian asked, then paused, looking at the valley full of sleeping ordinary animals and surrounded by circles of sleeping magical beasts and magical plants. ”Well, Nature Warlock,” he muttered.

”This valley of yours probably has the only intelligent rabbits in existence, right?” Adrian remarked, ”They may not be useful, but they’re pretty enough. Why, just stay in this valley, they might become more pleasing to the eye!”

Hill didn’t plan to explain. The world couldn’t possibly have no mid-level magical beast rabbits; they were just rare among humans.

Rabbits, like mice and even ants and butterflies, could all become magical beasts. But their vast numbers and short lifespans made it hard for them to awaken into magical beasts.

Rabbits were the food source for most magical beasts on this continent, but their strong reproductive power allowed them to remain the most populous species.

However, their intelligence was low, and the chances of them awakening as intelligent mid-level magical beasts were minimal; at best, they could become large low-rank rabbits, which would still be food and perhaps even tastier.

But among such vast numbers, there would always be some born with extraordinary talents.

Moreover, the offspring of magical beasts were born as magical beasts, their inheritance more stable than humans.

Otherwise, how could there be those magical beast insects? Their brains were even smaller, and awakening was even harder for them than for rabbits.

However, as Adrian said, even if they reached the mid-level, these rabbits would be nothing more than more beautiful fur. Going outside would be suicide.

After all, they’d be tastier.

Except for Hill, who didn’t allow eating intelligent creatures here, outside, who cared if a rabbit wept over its own death!

Hill led Fran and Adrian around the sleeping creatures and into the Magic Tower.

List already had a sumptuous meal prepared for them.

”What are your plans now that you’ve reached the legendary level?” Fran asked Hill steadily. Adrian couldn’t help but glance at his teacher, wondering why he was asking so soon after the achievement.

”Didn’t you say the Mage Association would send materials once reaching the legendary level? I plan to wait and have a good look at them,” Hill answered. ”I also want to read more books. Once I have everything about the legendary level sorted out, I plan to head into the wilderness, but that will have to wait until the situation with the elves is resolved. I have a feeling it won’t be simple.”

”Hmm. Good,” Fran approved. ”That’s how it should be. Also, the Sorcerer Tower will likely send someone with materials and an invitation for you to become their Honorary Elder.

It’s basic respect for a legendary figure. Regardless of your country, no one dares to break this tradition. But you should check if the Mage they send is from the elf faction, as they might try to provoke you on purpose.”
