Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 270: Chapter 73: Hill Feels Uncomfortable Being Watched

For the Goddess of the Hunt, she only had to think about one thing: once she became his attachment, what else about her was worth the Abyss’s attention?

Apart from completely sacrificing her Moon Elves, who had already suffered enough because of her.

As long as she lived, the Moon Elves would always be evil.

Though they were the purest beings in the world, they had turned into evil followers.

Although the Goddess of the Hunt appeared pitiful, considering the countless high-level magical beasts whose lineage she had severed, even though she did it to protect the Forest of the Elves, she had caused too much harm.

Wasn’t she aware that the beast tide had connections to both the Elf Lord and the Lord of the Moon Elves?

Yet, she still killed so many vengeful magical beasts.

This was a sin she was incapable of cleansing; after much contemplation and finding no way out, she became utterly disillusioned and gave up on eternal life.

Hill gazed quietly at the seed of the Moonlight Tree in his Mental Sea, within which slumbered not a few souls of the Moon Elves.

These were her true devout followers, right?

The Goddess of the Hunt herself had slipped to the very depths of evil, tangled far too deeply with the Abyss; she had to completely disperse, or else she would have fallen into it sooner or later.

Her last choice was hard to say wasn’t for these true followers of hers.

If Hill were to grow this tree, then the Elf Fruit that bore from this tree would also align with Hill’s faction.

Once these Moon Elves emerged from the fruit, they would only possess inherited knowledge in their memories, no longer being the original elves, and would only see Hill as their lord, following him back to a neutral good position.

The current Moon Elves of the Forest of the Elves were all subsequently bred and no longer related to the Moonlight Tree.

The sibling brothers and sisters from the Goddess of the Hunt’s original tree had probably gone to sleep in her Divine Kingdom long ago.

But how did the original Moonlight Tree of the Goddess of the Hunt disappear?

The emergence of this seed could only prove that the tree was no longer there.

Hill shook his head, no longer contemplating these matters; whatever had happened, he would eventually find out.

Walking every step of his life steadily, not being swayed by anything, was the deepest lesson the Goddess of the Hunt had shown him.

Hill gently turned over.

By the way, William must now be frantic, calculating rewards for the players, right?

Who knows what good things he could come up with?

Tomorrow, returning to the valley, he would ask the players who went hunting for magical beast partners. Knowing someone else was more troubled at this time made Hill contentedly sink into deep sleep.

Waking up again to Keslow’s overly dazzling sunrise, Hill stretched a big lazy stretch.

He sat by the window, waiting for the Tower Spirit to bring breakfast.

After breakfast, Hill knocked on Fran’s office door.

”Come in, Hill.”

Adrian was also seated in the room, smiling at him, ”Just now, His Majesty the King sent someone to invite the teacher to the Royal Palace, I have to go along. It’s probably about discussing the reconstruction of the palace.”

Fran asked Hill, ”Do you want to come with us, or go have fun on your own?”

”I’m heading back to the valley. I didn’t take care of the affairs of the magical beasts yesterday; I don’t know if there might be an issue,” Hill said with a smile. ”The palace reconstruction is going to take a long time; I don’t plan to be involved.”

Hill left the Magic Tower with Fran and Adrian, separating from them at the square in front of the Royal Palace.

He happily strolled through Keslow, planning to check out the players’ street market again.

Currently, the players no longer sold particularly expensive items at their stalls.

As soon as they see materials marked with ”rare” on them, they would go to native stores to check the prices.

In the past, those expensive materials, except for some with special needs who would buy high, were predominantly purchased by Hill and Adrian’s stores.

No one bought them up the way those two did.

Hill knew his store’s buying price list was constantly updated on the player forums.

For players accustomed to teleportation, they’d first check the forums for prices before asking the nearby stores if they’d buy.

If that failed, they’d just directly fly to Hill’s Domain.

However, ever since friendliness opened in Hill’s Domain, others could only curse while looking at the price list.

Other mages would only buy what they currently needed. To sell items, they had to inquire in many places.

Those who had no choice, if they had too many items, could only set up stalls or offload them in sales.

The people from the Black Rose families came here to sell goods daily, acting as middlemen for many.

But in the future, once Adrian’s store opened, they would continue buying again.

However, when they bought items in Keslow, they wouldn’t set the prices as high as in the domain.

The price for doorstep delivery was different.

And they wouldn’t buy just any items.

Hill, with a hairpin on his head not fearing being recognized, slowly walked and collected items.

Players also gathered fruits and grains, selling them to those wanting to learn cooking.

In their own words, ruining ingredients in the game was better than causing a real kitchen disaster.

Those who, even with the most suitable Alchemy Furnace in the game, still manage to burn the food, really shouldn’t take risks in reality.

Yes, Hill had heard that the Old Age Striking King was advising Cunlü like this.

She sincerely told Cunlü that Hard Wind was good enough, and if he were poisoned, finding another one would not be easy. In the game, trying and failing is just a matter of some experience points. Anyway, the elder would definitely not try Cunlü’s experimental products, not even her closest sisters could trick her out of her experience.

Luckily, in this world, fruits and grains grow quickly and the human population is small, so it doesn’t matter how much the players waste.

However, at the player’s stalls, there were also chef apprentices selling snacks.

Hill would buy them in large quantities whenever he saw them.

Like the meat-stuffed buns he is buying now.

Eh, the taste of the chef puppets’ creations is indeed exquisite, but Hill still craves the snacks from the stands.

The ring he uses to store food was about to be filled up by him these days.

Even though he had just bought some food two days ago, he still wanted to buy more upon seeing it.

Although he changed to a face indifferent to the pleasures of the mortal world, his love and greed for food remained the same.

Hill was satisfied and returned home with a full load, headed to the Teleportation Array.

Peace reigned over Hill’s Domain.

The players were not around, only a few female knights were walking and playing by the fountain.

Hill took a stroll in the valley and got acquainted with a few new magical beast families that had moved in.

He truly wanted to know why they had not come during peaceful times but chose to come now to take risks.

The thoughts of the magical beasts were simple. Adult magical beasts, upon reaching high-level, would go to sign a contract with the Undead Tribe to properly train themselves.

The old, weak, and sick stayed in Hill’s valley, which was safer, ensuring the continuation of their species.

However, today there were few from the Undead Tribe, making the magical beasts a bit worried, wondering if there would soon be no one left.

After learning the truth from Hill, they settled down.

Since the Undead Tribe would still come, they still wanted to wait for a compatible person.

Hill asked these few members of the Undead Tribe why they hadn’t stayed in Kexlote.

These were all individual players who had gained entry through reputation.

Compared to those at Snow Cloud Peak who had to take turns coming in, these individuals could line up every day.

”Today they are not here, we feel there’s a better chance,” a girl said with a smile. ”They are all waiting to receive their rewards!”

”What is it?” Hill was curious.

”They are distributing military exploits. We can go to the quartermaster to exchange for new equipment. It’s brand new, better looking and a bit more powerful than before.

There’s also a special appearance set! Silver hair, long robes of various colored silks. Although it’s not like those limited edition appearance tasks they received, it’s still very good-looking.

I plan to go exchange this afternoon! Only ten days are available, after which it will be gone! Even if it appears again, it won’t be the same set!”

Hill could only sigh. Limited edition appearances indeed were the best way to recycle achievements and money!

List was following beside Hill, listening silently.

He had seen yesterday’s events on the live broadcast giant screen.

But he didn’t know why Saral had become a country, so he planned to ask Hill.

Within Hill’s domain was a large Alchemy Map, embedded in the hall of the Lord’s Mansion. List had watched the changes on the map yesterday; those two names had disappeared from the map in an instant, utterly confusing him.

How it had changed so quietly.

Hill explained it to him, and List pondered and said, ”Is His Majesty the King such a considerate person?”

”He just doesn’t want to listen to the complaints of members from those two kingdoms’ royal families, nor does he want to see members of the Saral Royal Family flattering him.” Hill simply said, having only understood it later, ”By the time everyone knows, the matter has already passed. There’s no need for further discussion.”

List nodded, feeling this was reasonable.

Hill stood by the fountain, gently packing up the Exquisite Sphere containing the spiral pearls.

He had placed a shell box in his pendant, creating a more perfect Water Element circulation device.

He was a bit worried that he might be observed by the deities in the starry sky, especially since the Goddess of the Hunt had left those words behind.

Human deities, ascending to the starry sky late, most had not seen the face of the Elf Lord.

And during yesterday’s battle, the Elf Lord had been in the Divine Kingdom, and no one had seen how beautiful he actually was.

Hill felt that the human deities must be curious and would take a glance at him to fantasize about how ten times the beauty would be breathtakingly beautiful.

Hill wasn’t fantasizing, as being surrounded by Natural Consciousness, he always felt as though he was being watched.

Although he didn’t know whether this spiral pearl, which had only an extremely weak Soul Light, would be noticed by the deities, it still seemed better to secure it back into the pendant reinforced by the Natural Consciousness.

Hill asked the two Elemental Chiefs for permission and then found a few Wood and Water Elements of similar levels willing to stay inside the pendant.

Although it was difficult, he went to the Water Element warehouse to try and cultivate a crystal flower.

Having it in the pendant was beneficial for the growth of the little elemental spirits.

Moreover, Hill’s Magic Tower was rather concealed. Even if the deities were curious, they would not have the audacity to break through the Isolation Array just to see what he looked like.

Right now, Hill was truly feeling uneasy.
