Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 279: Chapter 82: Finally Able to Go Home

Hill’s footsteps were light, he planned to go back and ponder for a few days, if he could come up with another Wind Magic that would be best, if not, he could consider advancing to legendary status.

As Hill walked quietly along the valley, the vultures on both sides of the cliff were almost scared off by the divine power that had just been released.

They did not know whether or not they should leave this territory they had inhabited for ten thousand years.

Hill looked up and then left directly.

For any race, such life-and-death decisions are always a kind of torment, no matter what decision is made.

Slowly exiting the valley, Hill rose into the sky amidst the silvery mist.

The power that had been shrouding his consciousness for so long was dispersed by the blessing of the Goddess of the Silvermoon.

Hill was finally able to determine the direction of his valley.

Hill had always been worried about this white wolf; he used Mental Magic all too smoothly.

Hill had never thought of trying to escape through subterfuge, precisely because of the wolf’s magic.

He had been cast under a mental spell, unable to discern direction, nor feel the position of the contract element.

Was it some kind of God Confounding Magic?

Hill even began to suspect that this white wolf, unlike his brother, was actually the favored follower of the Moon God, having a closer connection to the moon.

That ill-fated wolf god, it was said, had a preference for using Earth Magic.

Did that one want to become the god of all magical beasts, possibly planning to leave the position of the Silvermoon Wolf God to his brother?

But it could also be seen that the wolf god was indeed very powerful.

To not regard a Divine Position as a lifelong pursuit.

As he thought about the grandeur of the wolf god from ten thousand years ago, Hill sped back to his own territory.

List was already waiting for him on the terrace.

”Welcome home safely. Sir,” he said with a smile. ”Would you like to go wash up? Everything is ready.”

Hill, smiling, landed and replied, ”Certainly. Please tell grandfather that I am safe.”

”Everything will be ready from the moment you step out,” List responded.

Hill quickly came out, feeling that his grandfather should be arriving soon.

Indeed, next to the feast prepared by List, Fran and Uncle Adrian were already seated.

”Grandfather, Uncle Adrian,” Hill walked quickly towards them, ”I’ve worried you.”

”Let’s eat first,” said Fran, looking at Hill who was unharmed and even seemed to have improved, and smiled with relief, ”List told me you were fine, but I was always worried.”

Adrian also smiled and said, ”It feels like you’ve gotten a lot stronger, Hill.”

Hill smiled and nodded, ”Fate is always interesting, it takes something away, but also compensates, you just have to be able to hold on to it.”

The three of them enjoyed a lavish dinner together, bathed in the quiet moonlight.

Back in the study, Hill immediately addressed the two seated men, ”These past few days, I’ve been with the Silvermoon Wolf God.”

”It’s you again?” Adrian exclaimed with a soulful sigh.

”The unfortunate wolf god’s brother,” Hill said expressionlessly, ”it might be related to my interaction with their things.”

”You should become legendary sooner!” Adrian said sincerely, ”You have too many troubles around you, if not legendary, next time will you be thrown to the elves?”

”Shut up,” Fran said flatly.

”The glow of the Silvermoon, how dazzling,” Hill gave Adrian a sidelong glance, ”The elves must be going crazy by now, right?”

”His Majesty the King was ecstatic today,” Adrian said, ”I was reporting to him about the recent construction in the Royal Palace when he saw the wolf god fly up, he cursed, jumped up, and when the Silvermoon intervened, he flew up, stood in midair, holding his sides, laughing wildly. The Chancellor couldn’t bear to watch and told me to leave quickly.”

Hill twitched a corner of his mouth, William, really something.

However, for William who was preparing for war with the elves, having such a powerful deity as an enemy of the elves was indeed good news.

”The dwarves are probably going to be a bit upset,” Hill said, ”The biggest enemies of magical beasts are actually the dwarves.”

”Because of the Earth System?” Fran asked sensitively.

”Yes, the reward from the wolf god,” Hill took out a small shield, ”They must have fought fiercely back then.”

Adrian picked up the shield to examine closely, ”Ah, it’s made of bear? Is your bloodline so obvious over there at the wolf god?”

”There’s also a seed pouch from a demi-god Elf Druid,” Hill looked at Fran, ”A long time ago, he was attacked and escaped into the wilderness but didn’t survive. It was picked up by the wolf god later, that leather pouch looks rather inconspicuous.”

Fran nodded slightly, understanding the unspoken words of Hill.

Hill took out the seed pouch for Fran to see, ”This would be useful for grandfather, right? It automatically classifies.”

Without the control of an intelligent Tower Spirit, it could intelligently distinguish the types of seeds, Hill was curious to know what runes were used.

But Hill’s alchemy skills couldn’t discern it.

Adrian, looking interested, put down the shield, ”This thing must use runes from Nature’s Divine Art, right? Hill, can’t you see?”

”My wood magic, isn’t actually that strong,” Hill admitted, ”I plan to study my own magic more carefully during this period.”

He closed his eyes, ”If it is not a major issue, I might have advanced to legendary status.”

”Ah?” Adrian exclaimed in surprise.

”I discovered the Wind Spell,” Hill quietly answered, as Fran looked at him, equally astonished.

He recalled that Hill’s Wind Magic wasn’t vast, had this period been enough to meet the advancement requirements?

Adrian blinked, ”No wonder you were so secretive during that time, always hiding in the Magic Tower and not coming out.”

He didn’t think it was a problem that Hill didn’t tell them. It was something that should not be openly spoken of.

It has nothing to do with trust.

Sometimes, speaking it out loud is the problem itself.

Hill must now be confident in his advancement to legend for him to dare to speak about it.

After all, when he advanced, the laws of Wind Element would manifest, and Hill wouldn’t let Fran and Adrian be like others, just standing outside in surprise, looking at the Wind Element.

Fran looked helplessly at Hill, what secret was this child hiding again?

More secretive than the Wind Element, it was uncertain whether Hill was lucky or unlucky.

But originally, when Fran didn’t want to tell Adrian about the Wind Element, it seemed that Hill understood his intentions.

Adrian was about to take on an apprentice.

No matter how much Adrian liked Hill, in his heart, Hill could never surpass the heir he acknowledged.

Just like Fran, if Hill hadn’t become increasingly important in his heart, many things would have been shared with Adrian. You always want your heir to be fully informed.

However, while Fran could trust Adrian, he couldn’t trust Adrian’s future students.

Without the many years of shared feelings, Hill would just be someone to be used by that person.

Hill’s secrets were too many, Fran didn’t want a day when Adrian’s student could fatally harm Hill.

Even without any intentional harm, just leaking a bit of Hill’s secret could be life-threatening.

Fran casually discussed with Adrian how to make a Seed Pouch.

The two divine artifacts were intriguing, but only precious to a legend; Hill’s abilities could keep it safe.

Could it be that the secret Hill was hiding was something even the deities would be interested in?

Fran thought it might be related to the Earth Deity System.

That Wolf God’s brother has many Half-God followers from the Earth System!

Fran felt that Hill was guarding against the Dwarves’ gods; it surely couldn’t be treasures of the Lake Goddess, right?

The value of the Water Element in Hill’s blood lineage wasn’t that high.

”The Goddess of the Silvermoon gave me a blessing,” Hill raised his finger, gently touching the silver mist in front of him, ”It fortified my Mental Sea; Soul Department magic doesn’t affect me anymore.”

Fran and Adrian both remembered Hill complaining about how young William had directly contacted his Mental Sea.

Hill’s casually mentioned fortification of his Mental Sea hinted at how much resentment he harbored.

Perhaps having parents like Earl and Melanie made Hill ever sensitive, greatly disliking any invasion of his privacy.

Apart from Fran and Adrian, it was hard for him to let others into his realm.

The direct contact Young William made with his Mental Sea had always been uncomfortable for Hill.

So although he had suffered once, he was satisfied with the compensation.

Only then did Adrian smile relievedly.

He had always felt a bit guilty, as Hill had become unlucky while looking for him.

Though it was because Hill was taking pleasure in his misfortune.

”So, it’s better not to do bad things,” Hill murmured to himself, ”Rarely schadenfreude once, and yet I was punished. Even though I received quite a few benefits, it still feels somewhat irritating. Better to behave honestly from now on!”

Fran’s rare smile bloomed across his face.

The three of them drank the tea Hill loved, watching the light of the Silvermoon gradually fade as the sun slowly rose.

”I wonder if the Sun God is also awake?” Adrian asked.

”If He were awake, evil powers wouldn’t be so strong,” Fran slowly said, ”The Sun God Temple, nobody lacked the desire to build it. Yet, it was fundamentally impossible to erect a statue. The Sun doesn’t allow those He does not approve of to use His power.

And those who sought help have never been granted permission. If the Sun God were awake, He wouldn’t be so cruel.”

Hill nodded, ”The power of the Sun isn’t so easy to borrow.”

”Let’s go home,” Fran stood up, ”Since you are preparing to advance, proceed with your retreat! I haven’t spoken to anyone about your disappearance, let’s pretend you were always squatting in your domain.”

”Does His Majesty the King know about it?” Hill asked.

”Him?” Fran sighed, ”Not asking is like him not knowing. If asked, just say you were unlucky to encounter the Wolf God issue. I believe he has an idea and won’t ask.”

Adrian laughed, ”His Majesty is such an interesting person. He has been working on the instance lately, cursing daily. He has no desire to deal with other matters.”

”Ah? Isn’t that His Majesty’s matter?” Hill was surprised, wasn’t that supposed to be the affair of the God of Time and Space?
