Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 280: Chapter 83: Why Curse the Wolf God as a Dog~?

Hill pricked his ears up, hoping to hear some good news.

”Yes, but His Majesty the King has been too busy recently. He asked the King to give him a preliminary plan, and he just cut straight to it,” Adrian said, ”Many ministers were there discussing how exactly to build the Royal Palace. Only when His Majesty the King started shouting out loud did we catch on. Although we didn’t hear what His Majesty said, we understood everything the King shouted.”

Hill shook his head. Given William’s current mood, it was definitely a maliciously playful instance. Adrian, now laughing happily, would probably cry once he knew the details.

Hill thought indifferently that he couldn’t possibly be just a passing NPC this time, nor a Magician in need of rescue up a tree. After all, this time, it was the players who needed him. The Forest Array was definitely a crucial spell required in every encounter.

Hill glanced at Adrian. Fran was about to kill a legend; perhaps Adrian, cheering on the sidelines, getting carried along, and occasionally watching the excitement until the players find what they need, might just be that type of storyline NPC.

Adrian, completely unaware of Hill’s secretly-schadenfreudian gaze, waved for Hill to go back and rest.

Watching Fran and Adrian fly off into the distance, Hill headed towards the Floating Stairway; he needed to go to the bottom of the Magic Tower, to the territory of the Earth Elemental.

He thought for a long time, if there ever came a day when he had to move this oak branch, it could only be because he encountered a foe he couldn’t resist and had to evacuate everything from his domain.

Hill estimated that this Divine Artifact was either sealed with powerful Divine Power into a piece of land or it was also from an Outer Plane. It was just that this Goddess of the Earth was powerful enough to drag such a massive Outer Plane.

Containing land larger than Hill’s domain in a shard the size of a branch.

Who knows how terrifying the area inside the main branch could be.

However, Hill was quite satisfied with this fragment; originally, he wondered how he would manage his domain after leaving this Plane.

Now, with this Relic Fragment, even if far as Starry Sky, he could still contact everything within his domain.

This tower, constructed with more consideration for someone living with him.

Unexpectedly, only the top few floors ended up being useful, and the lower floors all turned into storerooms.

Hill planned to discuss with the Elements that this branch could only be placed underground and entrusted to List for management.

The Elements probably needed to consider moving.

During the time Hill prepared for his promotion, it was best for them to find their own spots within the Magic Tower.

The Elements soon arrived underground; Hill stood over List’s sealed core space waiting for them.

This was also the most heavily defended place in Hill’s Magic Tower.

Among the surprised gazes of the Elements, Hill released the fragment of the Divine Artifact exclusive to the Goddess of the Earth.

The sprightly young oak, as soon as it emerged, rooted itself firmly into the ground. If Hill lifted his restrictions, it would grow larger and larger, until it absorbed the entire Magic Tower into its body.

By that time, even the Deities would struggle to shatter Hill’s Magic Tower.

The Wood Elemental and Water Elemental almost didn’t hesitate to decide to move into the Magic Tower.

The Earth Element Lord, on the other hand, preferred to live beside the Divine Artifact.

Hill nodded in agreement, allowing this Element Lord to completely excavate the underground space, leaving only List’s little house wrapped in layers of Magic Arrays.

Knowing that Hill decided to promote himself, List happily reviewed all sorts of Magic Arrays in the Magic Tower again.

If Hill really was to journey to the Starry Sky, he hoped he could tag along.

If he had this Divine Artifact, he might even be able to manage the domain directly through the Artifact, and then it would suffice to place a Tower Spirit of a lower level than himself.

He believed that once Hill became a Legend, he could definitely achieve this.

List now needed to carefully consider what Magic Arrays the domain still lacked so that he could later make requests to Hill to help him engrave them.

As for future matters, those could wait until then.

Even if Hill became a Legend, he wouldn’t leave so soon!

And Fran, without enough preparation, wouldn’t easily set off either!

Legendary Mages needed to first adjust themselves to their strongest state and, only when they could no longer progress in this world, would they venture into the Starry Sky to find their path.

Hill watched as the Wood Elemental Spirits, who swiftly moved in with their families including their Treant companions, came in.

Fortunately, the Earth Element Lord had already cleared the entire underground space.

Hill waved his hand, creating a dirt slide.

Compared to making stairs and having them move step by step, the slide was faster.

Hill helplessly watched the Elements, who really didn’t need to walk, also quickly jump onto the slide, sliding down joyfully.

He shook his head, walked into the oak tree; he needed to go in and modify the rules.

After becoming the master of the fragment, as soon as Hill entered, he was transported to a peculiar space.

He stood on a Divine Array at the center of the space and entered into resonance with the Artifact.

He first abolished the Wolf God’s restrictions on the beings within the space.

The beings in the Artifact’s space, even if they awakened intelligence, would not harm the Artifact’s master.

Hill didn’t understand why the Wolf God had set it up this way, why not leave other Magical Beasts inside to accompany the White Wolf.

Even if he only wanted the best for the Wolf Tribe, why not leave some young wolves to accompany him?

Although Hill did not know why, he believed there must be some reason.

There might have been a traitor, but the Wolf God did not know who it was, so he would never risk the last hope of his Silver Wolf Tribe.

Wolves are naturally suspicious creatures.

Hill would not ask the magical beasts living in his territory to enter the space because once they did, it would mean a permanent contract with Hill.

Elements and Treants have a simple pursuit in life. They want to live happily and play whenever they want to. They like to watch the bustling world and pass time, but most importantly, they want to advance.

Their long lives make them quite indifferent to life’s pursuits.

However, magical beasts are different, and Hill did not want to shoulder their lives.

They are, in fact, much like humans, with too many desires that Hill does not believe a worry-free space could satisfy.

Let the magical beasts live in the valley then!

Even if Hill were to leave, this would still be his territory.

Hill decided that after he became legendary, he would inscribe a Divine Array of Oaths throughout the entire valley.

He wouldn’t restrict any magical beast’s departure, but he would have requirements regarding their faction.

The same goes for magical beasts, the killing for survival would not incur the hostility of nature. Just like humans who cut down large trees and kill some magical beasts for survival would not significantly shift their alignment.

A Kind Alignment does not necessarily mean not killing.

However, if a magical beast kills without reason, regardless of whether the victims are other magical beasts or humans, they would be abandoned by nature and become evil creatures.

Such magical beasts, even if they swore not to harm any creatures in the valley, Hill would not permit them to enter.

Hill would not allow his kindness to become a shield for others to do wrong.

Now with List around, and the number of magical beasts not too many, it was easy to manage.

But as more and more magical beasts contracted with the Undead Tribe, the number in the valley would eventually grow until List could not keep up.

And importantly, if William really did go to war with the Dwarves and Elves, many magical beasts might be very willing to fight alongside humans.

By then, the number of magical beasts throwing their children to Hill’s care and then turning to battle would by no means be small.

Hill had long been worried about this, it was just unfortunate that such a Divine Array was not something that he, a Magister, could inscribe.

This matter was not something he could possibly ask Fran to help with, but fortunately, for now, the valley and List were still without issues.

After patrolling the valley again and checking on the cave where Merkel and Alice slept, Hill arrived at the place of seclusion of the white falcon Cohen.

Seemingly sensing Hill’s arrival, Cohen quickly flew out.

Hill was planning to put the Wind Elemental Spirit Keith into the Divine Artifact space, so Cohen should go in too.

Instead of pondering on his own how to turn wind into an instinct for the entire species, he should interact more with it!

Hill knew Cohen was a falcon with a lot of pride and confidence.

He had already thought about establishing his own tribe.

To give birth to fledglings that were inherently of the Wind Series, Cohen was always troubled.

However, Hill thought instead of worrying about these things, Cohen should think about how to find a mother falcon that would like him.

Although Cohen couldn’t hear Hill’s bellyaching, he still landed on Hill’s shoulder, looking around as if sensing something was amiss.

He even suspiciously glanced at his Nature Companion, knowing Hill liked to grumble in secrecy.

But knowing that the Relic Fragment of the Goddess of the Earth had fallen into Hill’s hands, he became excited, flapping his wings continually.

Hill waved his hand, letting Cohen fly to the oak tree’s location, thinking he still needed to discuss the matter of the Wolf God with Merkel.

By the time Hill stood at the entrance of this cave at the mouth of the valley, he looked around curiously for a change.

Merkel was truly a rule-abiding leopard; the area around this cave was kept very tidy.

Even the hanging vines were neatly arranged.

Hill lowered his eyes to the front of the cave door, where various colored stones were arranged in rows, all with scratch marks on them.

Was this a scratching board that Merkel used for claw training?

Knocking on the huge stone that blocked the entrance of the cave, Hill quietly sympathized with Alice.

Could Merkel be so formal?

Alice would probably love to roll up the vines into a ball, yet here the vines didn’t even have a single knot.

Merkel came out quickly, and Hill sensed his powerful presence, which must be close to an official advancement, right?

”What happened?” Merkel asked seriously, a hint of murderous intent showing, probably thinking someone was going to attack the valley.

”Nothing serious, yesterday the White Wolf God rose to a constellation, becoming the Silvermoon Wolf God,” Hill said with a smile, ”I thought you might wake up to watch? Many magical beasts really like the Silvermoon, right?”

”I didn’t feel it, so it was probably just a bit of a conscious awakening,” Merkel responded thoughtfully, ”That dog of a Silver Wolf, sure enough, had a backup plan.”

Hill almost laughed out loud. That was probably the response of the Demigod in Merkel’s bloodline, right?
