Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 284: Chapter 87: What Evil Is It to Kill the Wolf God?

”I had almost forgotten,” William said, ”Magical Beasts and Dwarves are the ones truly at each other’s throats, aren’t they? That’s actually not bad, who knows how much blood of the Wolf Tribe is on the hands of the Dwarves?”

William pondered and sat up straight.

”I need to ask Cronos to see if an alliance can be formed with the Silvermoon Wolf God. Even if Magical Beasts turn against humans in the future, it won’t just be a matter for his Wolf Tribe alone.

As for past events, a simple explanation should suffice, just instigation by the God of Nobility, without direct intervention. The Spring Goddess has fallen, so hasn’t the God of Nobility also paid a heavy price?

If the Silvermoon Wolf God is smart, he won’t dwell too much on those past conflicts.

It’s the Elves who were taught by the Church of the Goddess of the Spring to open the Abyssal Gate!”

Adrian blinked, only then realizing that William was referring to the God of Time and Space. William’s tone was so matter-of-fact that Adrian was a bit slow to catch on.

It seemed their relationship was much closer than people imagined.

The Mage Association’s analysis had always believed their relationship was like that of close twins, soulfully connected and affectionate.

But some in the Mage Association also believed that, no matter how close the siblings, conflicts of interest would only intensify over time and they would eventually part ways.

With William’s flamboyant character, how could he be content always being second to the God of Time and Space?

Adrian had always been somewhat sceptical, but no matter what the future held, at least for the moment, William held the God of Time and Space in close regard.

Speaking of which, it’s been a long time since I heard anything about the God of Nobility.

But is it so straightforward to say it was the Spring Goddess of the Elven Church?

How the Spring Water colluded with Demons, isn’t that still unknown?

Elves and the Abyss are clearly enemies!

Adrian pondered whether there was trouble within the Elves. Is that why William was sure that someone among the Elves with the Spring Water had contacted Demons?

”If he has any economically viable crops or good varieties of fruits and grains in that seed pouch of his, please get more seeds to sell to me. I’ll pay a good price,” William said after some thought. ”I bet as a Nature Warlock, he wouldn’t find the seed pouch useless and would certainly grow each to see what they are.”

Adrian nodded, ”I’ll mention it to Hill.”

William looked at Adrian, who didn’t show much reaction, and laughed again, ”It seems you know that for Hill the Magician, the seed pouch is more important, so you deliberately downplayed its presence! You two really have a great relationship!

Sometimes, by looking at you guys, I feel that not all Mages are cold-hearted, without friends or family.”

Adrian was a bit baffled; Mages have friends and family, where did William get such an impression? He made a mental note of this and decided to ask his teacher later, perhaps there was something he had overlooked.

Seeing William’s mood improve, Adrian quickly excused himself. He really didn’t want to talk too long with this king whose emotions fluctuated too much. It was indeed tiring!

Returning to the Magic Tower, Adrian found Fran sitting by the window, basking in the sun and pondering something, to whom he reported in detail his experiences of the day.

”The Mage Association is about to split,” Fran snorted coldly, clarifying things for Adrian.

Adrian’s eyes widened in shock, what did it mean for the Mage Association to split?

”The fig leaf between humans and Elves and Dwarves has been utterly torn away,” Fran looked coldly at the sky, ”So, where should human Mages stand?

Logically, humans are humans, how could they side with the Elves?

But in reality, many Mages have an Elf as a teacher. Their worship of Elves makes them completely forget they are human too.

The Mage Association has always been somewhat wary of Elves and Dwarves. But they can’t resist, the temptations offered by Elves and Dwarves are too great.

For them, it’s enough to live well, why worry about what humans will become?

They think that as long as they have the ability, even under the rule of other races, they would prosper.”

Now Adrian understood the meaning behind William’s words.

He silently hung his head. Such Mages were those who had never suffered. They were taken to the Mage Association as children and had lost any sense of belonging to humanity as a whole.

Mages who from childhood only learned spells and respected authority could believe that powerful Elves are reliable. After all, they truly lack reverence for this world.

Mages who only see magic as a pursuit in life and never look at the whole world are all too common.

”In the past, they thought that children of Nobles were too deeply influenced by their families and showed excessive reverence for Deities. Gathering children with potential, they ended up educating such a group,” Fran said icily. ”Inside the Mage Association, it is the lineage of those born from Nobles who firmly want to distance themselves from the Elves.”

Adrian nodded in agreement, ”What about Sorcerer Tower? They are quite hostile toward Nobles.”

”Sorcerer Tower has announced the closure of their borders. Except for Magicians, they welcome no one,” Fran picked up a piece of paper, ”This came this morning. They are allowing Magicians to freely join the war, but Sorcerer Tower will not participate in the name of the whole nation. Many legendary warlocks are now heading to Dilante, planning to form their own association, however loose. They can’t let such a Mage Association represent them.”

For thousands of years, magicians had no intention of breaking away from the Mage Association, preferring to live among mages instead.

Magicians always disliked Elves and Dwarves. For many years, people believed it was due to the evil aspect in their bloodlines. But now, no one could be sure.

Take Hill, for instance, who never had any affection for Elves from the start. Even though his veins carried Elf blood, he felt no kinship when he saw an Elf.

Otherwise, he would not have harbored such intense aversion towards that little princess.

No boy, no matter what he thought, could possibly detest a beautiful girl who adored him that much.

No matter her reasons for falling in love with him, at least her affection was genuine, which we could all see.”

Adrian nodded, ”I wonder how the battle is going on Dionysio’s end and whether it will be affected?”

”Heh,” Fran glanced at Adrian helplessly, ”The Alliance at Dionysio is there to stop those undergoing demonization from leaving Dionysio, not to launch an offensive. Can’t you see that?”

”What?” Adrian exclaimed, ”Doesn’t anyone care about the God of Nobility?”

”For magical beasts, the God of Nobility is an enemy,” Fran sneered, ”As for humans, what has he done wrong? He stirred troubles in the spring water, messing with things in between, but that wasn’t for the resurrection of some deity! Humans were so weak back then; if there really was a Beast Nation led by a King of Magical Beasts, could humans even have existed? Hill is a Nature Warlock with good relations to magical beasts; do you see him calling for the death of the God of Nobility?

The God of Nobility’s biggest mistake was his descent into evil, which is why he’s gone mad.

His major fault lies with demons, nothing to do with Wolf God or Lake Goddess!

His Majesty the King never intended to send the Undead Tribe to join the battle; even if the God of Nobility became an Evil God, everyone actually accepted it.

After all, there will always be Evil Gods in this world. Especially beings like nobles, if they are of the Kind Alignment, they are either blessed by a God or they are fakes.

The God of Nobility just played with power too much and overdid it, leading to his own demise.

Demons are not that easy to deal with!

Look at the Goddess of Love, why is she uninvolved? Her actions against magical beasts from the standpoint of human deities are absolutely right!

The Goddess of the Hunt calling the Goddess of Love stupid must be referring to herself, right?

The Goddess of Love realizes that she’s about to lose her rule over love, which is indeed true. For tens of thousands of years, people have been proclaiming love every day, yet her power has weakened. If she doesn’t come to her senses, she’s doomed to fall!

The Goddess of Love has been wanting to distance herself from the God of Nobility, probably not just for a day or two.

But she hasn’t found the opportunity, nor has she dared to.

Before the God of Nobility fell into the Evil Faction, he had already pushed the Goddess of Love to the front, do you think her lament was genuine?

Not forgiving is one thing, but hatred is impossible.

If she truly hated the God of Nobility, she wouldn’t call out his name. Arturas, who else would remember if not her?

She’s afraid that the God of Nobility would fully descend into the Abyss and forget his true self!

You didn’t believe the nonsense from that silly Goddess of the Hunt, did you?

If she could see the true nature of things, she wouldn’t have ended up in such a state!

Now everyone is watching. If the God of Nobility wakes up as a lucid Evil God, turning a blind eye is something the human deities can manage.

If he’s completely corrupted by the Abyss, then there’s no choice but to act against him.

However, I doubt that will happen. Look at those demonized folks in Dionysio, they’re still somewhat organized in their actions. Those who came to make trouble in Saral were involved in normal scheming, not in harming civilians outright.

The Noble Church always targets the state and nobles when they act.

The only one who directly harms civilians is that God of Smithing and Craft taught by the Dwarves.

Think more! Don’t just focus on going back to make your Alchemy Potions.

Spend a bit of time each day looking at these reports coming in!

That’s why you can’t even touch the edge of becoming legendary, because you see too little!

Don’t spend your years in the Capital just like you would at home!”

Adrian smiled sheepishly, ”Alright, teacher.”

Adrian really hadn’t thought much about it. Since leaving the Saral Royal Palace, he disliked getting involved with such messed-up affairs. He seemed to only pay attention to gossip news, and for information about other countries, he would directly ask the Tower Spirit. Unless there was some important news, he didn’t pay much attention.

However, it seemed that the Tower Spirit’s sense of importance was rather simple; he decided to continue checking by himself from now on!
