Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 267: Chapter 70 The Last Defiance of the Elf Goddess

Hill didn’t know why William had to squabble with the Goddess of the Hunt.

But since he was doing it, Hill had no choice but to play along.

Yet he really felt annoyed, as the priests within the Forest Array were all photographing him.

Ever since instances came into being, it had been a long time since Hill experienced the pain of being surrounded and photographed by thousands of people.

However, Hill’s lips twitched slightly.

The Old Age Striking King was photographing Fran.

”This is a ruthless person who has soaked himself in the Elf Princess. Maybe he’s even a demigod,” she muttered under her breath.

Veins popped on Fran’s forehead.

”Not a princess!” he said fiercely, ”Just the daughter of a princess and a human! Indeed a demigod, but the lineage is far removed!”

The Old Age Striking King quietly moved aside, but Hill noticed she climbed up a tree, hid herself behind a branch, and continued shooting.

Hill couldn’t understand why she was hiding herself. If you point the camera at Fran, he will sense it!

Is this deceiving others or deceiving oneself?

The conversation outside continued.

”So, what are you planning to do now? Just hanging in between?” William casually asked.

”Hehe,” the Goddess of the Hunt began to laugh, ”I know what you want to ask. There indeed is a female elf deity in the Abyss. I can go to her for support! But she has nothing to do with the Divine King, she’s annoyed by the sight of his face.”

William blinked.

”The Divine King is not an original deity of this world,” the Goddess of the Hunt said without any reservation.

”God Master!” the Lord of the Moon Elves shouted, ”He will kill you, you’re no longer the powerful Main God!”

”Oh, come on!” the Goddess of the Hunt chuckled, ”The River of Time and Space hasn’t moved at all!”

”However, I admit to killing that stupid deer,” said the Goddess of the Hunt straightforwardly, ”Elves just don’t cut down trees, it doesn’t mean they don’t eat meat. They merely have animal companions. Animals are believers in the survival of the fittest, they won’t leave because elves kill creatures.

The stupidity of humans lies in their ignorance, seeing elves with animal companions and assuming we are vegetarians. Enjoying fruits doesn’t mean we don’t eat meat, okay?

Those Druids who protect nature would even kill the surplus of certain animals in an area! Elves simply kill only for food, and don’t hunt for so-called pleasure.

Otherwise, why would elves need a Goddess of the Hunt? To hunt humans perhaps?

That foolish deer competing for the position of Moon Goddess ventured into elven territory; wasn’t that courting death?

Even though she was chased into it by Dwarves, there’s no way I would let her go!

It was only after I killed her that I realized she was a Spirit of Nature, a Nature God.”

The Goddess of the Hunt frowned: ”Maybe I fell into a trap, but that was my own doing.” She pointed at the God of Smithing, ”They’ve always been a bit evil; it was just that killing the deer completely shifted them to the Evil Faction. However, their pursuit of the deer was to use her skin to blind the eyes of the World Will.

The Dwarves didn’t like the Main God squatting in the evil direction.

But the God of Smithing became a god because of their beliefs! Being evil is a Dwarf problem.”

So, did the Dwarven gods help because they had a good relationship with the Goddess of the Hunt?

They don’t care about their Faction being discovered?

”There are few gods in the Kind Alignment among Dwarves,” said the God of Smithing bluntly, ”Dwarves are not native to this world, having seized the Laws of this world, it’s impossible for them to be kind.”

Hearing this, Hill gasped. Did they think that the Goddess of the Hunt would definitely speak freely, so the Dwarves didn’t bother hiding it?

The followers they brought were all loyal, and even if they died, they would go to their Divine Kingdom.

Although their Divine Kingdom had shattered due to their fall, those souls would still sleep within their Divine Fire.

So, although they lost subordinates, these deities didn’t have the anger of a life-and-death struggle.

William’s situation was even less of a concern, with the Royal Palace shattered in exchange for so many Legendary lives, William had no dissatisfaction.

After all, apart from the Royal Palace, the only cost was the experience points lost by the Undead Tribe.

And William, never short on money, could simply dig around himself, and that would be enough for him to spend for a year.

”It’s true that we meddled with the Human God of Smithing,” said the Dwarven God of Forging nonchalantly, ”There’s nothing to be done about it; this world, the original elves, have been ruined by these Moon Elves and the Goddess of the Hunt. Dwarves are all outsiders. Only humans were created by the world itself. The World Will only cares about humans, we can’t ignore that.

Don’t ask me how Dwarves and elves came to be, I won’t say. All I can say is this.”

He thought for a moment and said, ”That God of Nobility, we wanted to influence him, but the Divine King acted faster.”

”The Human Goddess of Love had a good relationship with this bitch next to me, learning a lot from her,” the Goddess of the Hunt continued, ”I thought she wanted to destroy human deities, so I didn’t care.

Only later did I find out, the Goddess of Love surely must have someone she loves! To please the God of Nobility, she learned many tricks from the bitch. God knows what weird things she picked up!

I’m not very clear about the matter with the Goddess of the Spring, but it’s true that the bitch interfered! That stupid Goddess of Love introduced the bitch to the God of Nobility, and from then on, she completely lost his heart.”

Hill couldn’t help but glance at the Lord of the Moon Elves.

She wasn’t frail or pitiable, but she was indeed beautiful, with the temperament of a valley lily, aloof yet not arrogant. Although she lay on the ground, her eyes looked at the Goddess of the Hunt with a sorrowful gaze, she still managed to be captivating.

But Hill didn’t think she was beautiful enough to mesmerize the Elven God King and the God of Nobility.

In Hill’s opinion, the Goddess of Love was far more beautiful than her.

Probably, some always believe that no matter how beautiful someone by their side is, it cannot compare to the unattainable that lies beyond reach!

The fool, God of Nobility, deserved to still be slumbering in the Noble Temple.

”I’ve paid my price anyway,” the Goddess of the Hunt said, looking up at the sky, ”With my temper, entering the Abyss, I’m bound to meet a dire fate. But I won’t just resign myself to it. Who knows, maybe there will be a new Black Moon Goddess in the heavens one day!”

She looked in Hill’s direction: ”The elf blood in your veins isn’t only from the Divine King. I just felt you grew up among humans most to my liking. You aren’t too much like him; you actually resemble us Moon Elves a lot.

Back when I was on good terms with the Elven God King, many Moon Elves married into the Elven Royal Family.

Moon Elves by nature are untamed and unrestrained.

I guess your lineage is from one of those rebellious children.

Your face fits my expectation of what my own child would look like perfectly.

As a Moon Elf, you even have a bit of his likeness.

Your light golden hair would be perfect if it turned silver,” she said.

She sighed softly and, drawing her longbow, shot an arrow fiercely at the Lord of the Moon Elves.

The Lord of the Moon Elves let out a pained cry as a blue-haired phantom appeared suddenly around him, blocking the arrow.

”Hmph,” sneered the Goddess of the Hunt, ”I’ve been waiting for you a long time. Even if I fail, I won’t let you live comfortably!”

She gave a glance at the Dwarven God of Forging, and the two Dwarf Deities nodded, then ascended into the sky and quickly departed: ”My child, you’ve already failed. You should return.”

William looked up at the Dwarves, stirred a bit, but did not chase after them.

He had eaten his fill of melons today and was also a bit dazed.

The fact that the Elven God King and the Dwarves were outsiders was enough to preoccupy his mind for a while.

Moreover, this newborn world being targeted by the Abyss so soon must also be related to them.

Hill thought silently: Perhaps the cracks in the World Membrane were caused by their arrival from other worlds, which allowed the Main God of Time and Space to inexplicably transmigrate to this world.

And the God of Time and Space, now the ruler of The River of Time and Space, was able to move through worlds so easily and complete his spirit.

Many mysteries of the past remained, but at the very least, everyone could be certain that, in this world, neither Dwarves nor Elves held a position as significant as humans.

Moon Elves, though creatures of this world, were doomed by their own Goddess’s romance.

Hill looked up and wondered if there might be Sun Elves or Earth Sprites as well.

But he still closed his mouth and kept everything to himself.

Words that even the Dwarven God of Forging dared not speak were not for him to inquire into.

The Goddess of the Hunt suddenly laughed mirthlessly: ”You’ve grown up watching me being fooled by your parents into stupidity, which is why you dare to show up so confidently! Look at your mother, she’s so anxious she’s going mad!”

She gently pulled on her longbow: ”I’ve been the main deity of the elves for hundreds of thousands of years, the deity of the hunt!”

”Fool.” With that invisible arrow, the Lord of the Moon Elves who had rushed in front of his daughter, dissipated into nothingness.

”Mother!” Her daughter screamed, her form disappearing.

”Atixia!” A furious shout came from the Starry Sky.

”Dead as well,” sighed the Goddess of the Hunt Atixia softly, and slowly faded away.

”Goddess of the Hunt?” William softly called out.

”I think, even if I went to the Abyss, I would suffer unbearably,” Atixia murmured, leaving behind a thought, ”If only there were a place in this world for dead people to live. I don’t want to see the living anymore. Ah, death! How wonderful! To welcome death with joy, that too is my destiny!”

She forswore clinging to life in the Abyss and instead used her Soulfire to slay her daughter, far away in the Starry Sky.

Her dispersal seemed to affect the Elf Deity System in the Starry Sky as the tremors of The River of Time and Space suddenly stopped.

William stood quietly in the sky, sighing deeply after a long while.

Hill, however, stood rigidly, not daring to move at all.

Why couldn’t the Goddess of the Hunt die more decisively?

What did leaving a wisp of Divine Fire for him mean?

Hill, looking at the strand of Divine Fire that hovered gently within his Mental Sea, almost choked with emotion.

That pure Divine Fire burned quietly, leaving only a message for Hill: ”I’ve taken everything else with me; this is the purest Divine Fire. It was a natural gift to me as the first Moon Elf in this world. You are very well suited for it. Don’t worry, aside from the World Will, even the God of Time and Space before you couldn’t see it.

Cherish it well!

And, by the way, take care of the Moon Elf seedlings.”
