Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 283: Chapter 86 Can I Let People Learn Hill’s Wind Magic?

Adrian was now responsible for the entire planning of the Royal Palace, so he would spend several hours there every day.

For a royal palace, someone like Adrian, an outside alchemist, would normally only be granted partial authority, and not the right to plan the entire palace.

But the King before him was the true ruler of Keslot.

Perhaps outside Keslot, William might need to exert some effort, but within Keslot, he was an omnipotent god.

So, after William had given Adrian an initial concept, he did not concern himself with anything else.

As long as Fran’s masters and apprentices delivered a palace that met these concepts, William would not care about other minor issues.

If it were not for Hill informing Adrian that as long as that Ginkgo Tree was there, even if Adrian dug an extra mouse hole, someone would immediately inform William, Adrian might actually believe that William was that generous.

Anyway, Fran had no other demands of the King, although Adrian did not know why Fran had even greater respect for William after advancing to Legendary. But Adrian understood clearly, if it was something he was meant to know, his teacher would not keep it from him.

All secrets originated from his insufficient abilities.

Adrian did not want to delve deeper.

Fran told Adrian that the more luxurious the design of the Royal Palace, the better.

Many people from the Undead Tribe had submitted a design for the palace. But William was not very satisfied; he wanted a palace of pure Saral style.

Adrian actually felt quite pressured now; he did not want the palace he built with great effort to end up being criticized by those of the Undead Tribe as worse than their design sketches.

But William told him straightforwardly that the designs of the Undead Tribe were imitations of some palaces from that world, beautiful though they might be, they were not suitable.

Unlike the Temple of Time and Space, which required an exotic style, the Saral Royal Palace should look like it belongs to Saral.

So, did the previous Keslot Palace look exactly like the one in Obastian?

Sometimes, Adrian felt that William thought too much.

Saral had no such thing as style.

The luxurious combinations of gold, silver, and black were merely an inadvertent result when the King who founded Saral built the palace with tailings from obsidian mining.

Because it turned out unexpectedly attractive, when the Great Nobility constructed their own estates, they deliberately imitated the style and flattered the King by buying up all the mining waste.

Now, Adrian had to rack his brains to replicate the effect of waste materials with other substances, which was an indescribable feeling.

Adrian sighed and looked at William, who was still angry.

He had originally planned to show the King the designed blueprints, as Fran was getting impatient, wanting to finish drawing the Magic Array and leave as soon as possible.

Some Arrays could only be perfectly inscribed by Fran himself, after all. There were so many Divine Arrays in the palace that they had no intention of removing.

Furthermore, integrating those several Magic Towers into the overall design of the new Magic Array was exceedingly difficult.

Who could have imagined that a palace with completed Magic Towers would one day need to be rebuilt?

Adrian himself could not inscribe a Magic Array over a Divine Array, nor could he suppress the power of several Great Magic Towers.

Only a Legendary Mage who deeply understood the laws could achieve that.

And Fran was even more suitable than such mages, being a Legendary Alchemist Master.

Apart from William, probably no one would be able to afford his services to lay down the foundation of a Magic Array for the palace.

No, aside from William, no one else would undertake such a task. Generally speaking, if a palace became ruined, it would be rebuilt to look exactly like the original!

Adrian had finally gained Fran’s approval and could submit the design to William for review.

But today did not seem suitable, as William was on the verge of dying of anger.

To William, he had already been generous enough to the Saral Royal Family. He not only distributed all the former royal property to them but did not even claim the part that the King deserved.

Unexpectedly, the Royal Family members, already possessing so much wealth, still squeezed the citizens of Obastian dry for a bit of money, causing heaven and earth to rage.

”What are these things?” William slammed the stack of papers in his right hand with his left, ”People who can get tens of thousands of Gold Coins from the Royal Family’s property every year, yet they drive people to death over a few coins? Obastian still belongs to Saral, doesn’t it? What happened to the mayor I appointed there? Is he dead?”

He stood up and waved the documents in his hand, ”I give them so much money, not because I’m afraid of them! I don’t owe the Saral Royal Family anymore, can’t they see that?”

”They understand very well, which is why those who don’t intend to engage in politics are trying to make some extra money now. After all, you’ve just killed the traitors, and you certainly won’t go after these obedient followers. This is the perfect time to make a move,” the Chancellor said calmly. ”What they didn’t expect was that their underlings also wanted to make money, and by adding more to the price, people ended up dead. The mayor of Obastian also turned a blind eye, considering that you might not want to kill a member of the Saral Royal Family anytime soon and might even treat some of them well.”

”Just for a damn patch of land the size of a fingernail!” William said furiously, ”The land of others, he didn’t acquire it at a normal price either, did he?”

”That piece of land isn’t worth much money, but it’s just that last bit, then the whole street would belong to him,” the Chancellor said, expressionless. ”In fact, he only pressed down the price a bit. It was his men, seeing that the homeowner was a young girl, who then got bad ideas.”

”Ha!” William scoffed coldly, ”My citizens, the followers of the God of Time and Space, have died by hitting their heads on the doors of the Space-Time Cathedral!”

He turned around in anger.

”I’m giving you three days,” William said indifferently. ”Don’t make me ask the Undead Tribe to go to Obastian again. If I don’t get a satisfactory result, I will let the Undead Tribe carry out Alignment Detection from start to finish. I actually really want to do that! I’ve always wanted to! I remember the old affection for the Saral nobility and have left them a lifeline, but that doesn’t mean they can shit on my head!

And that mayor, no matter who it is, get lost! I sent him to do a job, not to help me consider personal connections!”

The Chancellor, along with a group of nobles, bowed to the angry King, promising to handle the situation properly.

William fumed and sat back on the throne, ”Go and take care of it quickly! Everyone involved in this matter must undergo faction testing. Those who fail the test, if their issue is minor, get out of Saral. The rest, execution!”

Adrian watched as the Chancellor led people away, and only when William’s formidable aura began to wane did he approach with the documents in hand.

”Your Majesty. This is the design plan for the Royal Palace.” He said as politely as possible, ”I need a reply in the next couple of days. My teacher is looking to start on the Magic Array soon.”

William took the documents, but didn’t open them, ”I’m not in a good mood today, I won’t be able to tell if it’s good or bad. I’ll reply tomorrow.”

Adrian nodded, a few more days’ wait wouldn’t hurt Fran, he thought better not to rush today.

”How’s your young Hill doing?” William asked, lounging with his legs crossed and leaning against the throne, his face clearly expressing ’I’m not happy, so entertain me with some miserable stories about your family.’

Adrian twitched his mouth; this King, after getting a bit too familiar, was really a headache to deal with.

He wondered what he had been doing in the original world, how he had developed such a cynical character.

Wasn’t he originally a person like the God of Time and Space?

”Look at that little expression of yours.” William said with an innocent face, ”You’re thinking about how different I am from that big shot, the God of Time and Space above our heads, right? How could we be the same? He was a poor sod, no parents, no friends, even got betrayed by someone he trusted, and had to suffer and struggle for so long before he became a big shot, of course he’s serious and solemn. Me? I lived a happy life, died a heroic and tragic death, and was revered by people, so of course, I’m cheerful and optimistic.”

Adrian kept a straight face, really wanting to turn around and leave. William dared to curse the God of Time and Space, but he certainly didn’t dare to listen!

”Come on, tell me, how did he get so unlucky, that old spider in the Abyss just did that, and he got caught up in it,” William chuckled. ”It’s true that among those related to the Wolf God, he’s the one with the lowest level, the easiest to mess with, the rest are all Undead, and it’s impossible for them to be sent to awaken the Silvermoon Wolf God. But if your young Hill had stayed put in his own territory, he might have been replaced by now.

”Look at his luck! Went on a trip once and encountered a matter with demons, wanted to gather some materials for his maternal grandfather and make some Divine Arts materials, but then nearly got trapped by the Undead.”

”If he hadn’t gone out, Cortez would still just be Cortez!” Adrian couldn’t help but retort. But he made a mental note of the term ’old spider’; they had only speculated that the Abyssal Evil God was related to the elves, but William seemed to know who it was.

”That’s true. So I think his going out brings me luck!” William laughed heartily, ”You see, although he’s unlucky every time, I always receive good news. I was quite happy! The elves wouldn’t dare to wage war against Saral for a few years, they are afraid to death of Silvermoon. That’s also good news brought by Hill!”

”Hill is doing quite well,” Adrian said. ”He plans to retreat and seek the path to advancement.”

”Ah? Legendary?” William murmured, ”He completed his Wind Spell? Can I send someone to learn it?”

Adrian looked at William in surprise.

”He once used Wind Magic to accelerate by accident while he was out,” William waved his hand dismissively. ”Although he canceled it quickly, when a new spell appears in my domain, I certainly take notice.”

Adrian nodded, ”When Hill becomes a Legendary, I’ll ask him.”

”What about the Silver Wolf?”

”Hill was sent directly to the place where the Silver Wolf was asleep and woke it up. With no choice, he had to follow it to the Wolf God Altar. Only after watching it ascend to the constellations did he return. The Wolf God gave him two small Divine Artifacts as a reward. A Dwarven Shield of Earth and an Elf Druid’s Seed Pouch. Not of much use to Hill.”

”Why not? Is the shield useless too?”

”It’s made of Magical Beast Essence. Hill won’t use such a bloody weapon,” Adrian explained briefly, ”He’s a Nature Warlock, after all!”

William understood and gave a nod, then fell into thought.
