Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 272: Chapter 75: The Wheel of Fate Turns Again

Not many people cared to ride the carousel, probably because most were still squatting in Kexlote.

Sitting here alone, slowly rotating, Hill watched the bustling crowd below and felt the joyous atmosphere, which made him very happy.

Hill stayed in the Crystal Palace until dusk fell.

The Undead Tribe made full use of their advantage of having many Low-Rank Alchemists, and in this underwater amusement park, there were crystal lamps shaped like sea monsters at intervals.

A few of the Undead Tribe had also taken seats on the carousel next to Hill.

They pointed and identified the Magical Beasts.

If they recognized it, they cheered; if they got it wrong, they lamented loudly.

When a sea monster burst out from the waterfall, hearing their myriad of incorrect labels, it would struggle desperately to swim upwards, to show them what it really looked like, begging them not to label it recklessly.

No fish wants to be mistaken for its natural enemy, right?

Hill quietly watched the sea meld into the sky outside, reflecting the bustling prosperity within the Crystal Castle, and the agitation that had plagued him these past few days due to the Divine Fire was completely calmed.

He had thought he would stick firmly to the path of a Mage, but faced with the temptation of the Divine Fire, his heart had wavered.

It turned out he wasn’t so resolute after all!

That’s why Fran had always thought it wouldn’t be quick for him to become Legendary, and Adrian also worried about how Hill would get along with his heir.

His will, indeed, wasn’t that strong.

He gently dispersed a fog in his Mental Sea, knowing that even if he chose to become a Deity in the future, he would not choose the position of Lord of the Moon Elves right away.

Thinking about himself, then about other Magisters who struggled painfully, even Miller and the legendary Hill,

he felt he was just an annoyingly finicky spirit.

Who else had as many fallbacks as he did?

Not only was he not worried about the path to becoming Legendary, but he also had the opportunity to step into the Starry Sky and become one of the Deities after reaching a dead end in the Legendary path.

Hill, in this prosperous place, found peace in his heart.

He knew he no longer resisted becoming a Deity, but he also wasn’t willing to give up the path of a Mage just yet.

He would follow Fran, venture into the Starry Sky, and explore how far a Mage could truly go.

But when he reached the end and was utterly lost, Hill knew he probably wouldn’t just cease to exist.

Naturally reaching a dead end, Hill wouldn’t fear death.

But if there was a side path next to him that might be uncomfortable to walk, he believed he was not the kind of person who would just jump down if he disliked the path; the unlikable path, walked long enough, might just become bearable, and Hill might eventually turn towards the path of the Deities.

Hill gently relaxed his shoulders.

Now he could admit, the path left by the Goddess of the Hunt gave him the hope that no matter how far he flew, he could find his way back, ensuring his life would not end in utter despair.

Hill gently waved a hand, and a playful breeze twirled around his fingers.

The air quietly encircled him, allowing him to slightly float above the carousel.

The free and agile wind would carry him towards a bright future.

The flight magic of this world actually utilized the Gravity Element.

It broke free from the earth’s gravitational pull by harnessing the Elemental Power within the body.

The speed of flight depended only on one’s own strength.

Just as the Sky Knights, who couldn’t utilize the elements in their bodies, could only leap through the air using brute force,

Mages who could use elements could fly even at low ranks.

And Hill had finally learned to hover and fly using the Wind.

As long as there was a hint of wind, even if he had almost no mana left in his body, he could still float in mid-air, forever aloft.

This was the Spell that Hill had been considering ever since he successfully performed the Acceleration Magic last time.

Today, he had finally succeeded.

The Wind Element Kais in the pendant was absolutely ecstatic.

He flew up and down in the air for a long time.

Then gently lay on a cloud bed, turning into a white cocoon, ready to split.

The Wind Element was about to have its own family.

Hill did not know how long Kais’s split would last, but he knew he had firmly taken another step forward.

Indeed, the Magister stage required more life experiences that brought about a Mage’s own soul perceptions to reach the step where one could see the real world.

The Crystal Palace under the moonlight was exceptionally beautiful, and Hill slowly walked out of the castle.

The sky full of stars and the myriad lights of the floating Crystal City complemented each other, and Hill looked up at the moon reflected on the sea surface.

Once Legendary, when he could stroll in the Starry Sky, Hill wanted to visit the moon.

Had the God of the Moon really not left any other contingency?

Who was it that told the Goddess of the Hunt that it was utterly impossible for the Master of the Moon to awaken?

And the Sun God, who had been silent all this time, when would a trace of his contingency finally appear? Since the other two slumbering Goddesses had it, wouldn’t the Sun God have a trace appear at some point?

Hill felt that in this turbulent time, all the truths that had been hidden before would emerge one by one.

Wenjian’s Crystal Castle was a city that never slept.

Wherever Hill went, there was brilliant lighting and bustling crowds.

There seemed to be especially many lifestyle players in Wenjian, and every crystal hut hosted its own little shop.

Hill was in high spirits, amazed by the sheer variety of seafood snacks available here!

And perhaps because he was trained at a culinary school, with a habit of arranging dishes, these snacks looked very tempting.

Hill suddenly remembered the delicious food he had missed out on last time, and simply ate from the moment the moon was high until the sunrise.

After seeing the sunrise by the sea, Hill felt that becoming a legend, the first thing to do was to visit the place where the sun rises.

To find out whether the world he lived in was still a planet.

If it was, how enormous this planet must be.

If not, what was this land floating on in the universe?

Or perhaps, was it attached to some colossal creature?

One day, Hill intended to explore every corner of this world.

Unlike Fran, who was intent on finding a path in the starry sky, Hill’s curiosity about this world was always strong.

Perhaps, many things seemed particularly strange only to someone like Hill, who was an outsider.

Walking in the sunlight of the dawn, Hill went directly to Kexlote.

He went to find Adrian to talk about the lovely Crystal Palace.

First leaving a part gently on the desk in Fran’s study, Hill, with a smile, bid farewell to the engrossed Fran, acting like a good grandson who brought something tasty especially for his grandfather to try.

Then Hill, holding a tray, knocked on Adrian’s study door.

”Hill?” Adrian asked in surprise, ”What brings you here?”

”Just went to the amusement park they talked about,” Hill said with a beaming smile, setting down a heap of food. ”Brought you some snacks. They’re all seafood, quite delicious, quite unique in flavor.

Speaking of which, that amusement park was really fun! Mosaic’s legend personally on stage, an excitement the Undead Tribe enjoys.”

Adrian, who was deeply focused on calculating a palace array, couldn’t help but laugh at Hill’s words, ”Do you really want to join?”

Shaking his head in denial, Hill was promptly kicked out of the Magic Tower by Adrian.

Hill, cheerfully, went off to buy more meat-stuffed buns.

He finally got his revenge for the earlier seafood incident.

However, it seems William this time does not plan to use Divine Power to build the Royal Palace, huh!

Is this for the future King of Saral?

A Royal Palace built with an Alchemy Array is much easier to modify.

Unlike those built with Divine Power, where everything is interconnected.

Previously it was to build quickly, to stabilize the peoples’ hearts of Saral, to establish the King’s authority.

Now it’s different, even if William lived in a tree, he would still be the greatest king in the people’s hearts.

Hill looked up at the dilapidated Royal Palace, wondering where William was staying these days.

In the nearby, intact Temple of Time and Space, perhaps?

Satisfied, Hill stepped into the Teleportation Array, ready to go home.

But in the instant Hill teleported, a terrifying wave of Divine Power swept towards Kexlote’s Royal Palace and the Temple of Time and Space.

The Teleportation Array was also affected.

Before Hill passed out, he saw the half-collapsed Temple of Time and Space and heard an evil female voice: ”Hehe~ King of Saral, William, are you still alive?

This strike is to punish you for making me lose the long-awaited Dark Moon Divinity.

But since you made Coron’s offspring fail, I won’t trouble you anymore!”

When Hill opened his eyes, he found himself submerged underwater, awakened by the anxious Natural Consciousness.

Although he passed out in the chaotic spatial impact, Hill was unharmed.

Strong and sturdy, his legendary physique was not so easily injured.

Now, in a way, his weak point was his spiritual power.

Physically he was fine, feeling no sensation of being torn apart, but his Mental Sea was shaken too much, and he could only pass out.

Hill sighed deeply, wondering about his good luck. Why didn’t the Natural Consciousness warn him?

Such bad luck! How could he happen to encounter an attack by the Spider Goddess Queen Rose!

Were these elves initially chased to this world by this Evil Goddess?

Could it be that the so-called Elven God King was really a bastard of the Elf Chief God Coron from their world?

Hill looked around, seeing a blue lake surrounded by mountains, the clear and deep water reflecting the blue sky and high trees, the shimmering waves adding to the beauty.

He looked down at the under-water Temple, touching the pendant at his chest.

The Spiral Pearls were spinning inside the Exquisite Sphere, unusually responsive.

Maybe it was because of carrying it, but the chaotic space transport directly brought Hill in front of this ancient Temple.

Hill, lost in his thoughts, slowly dived to the bottom and swam to the front of the Temple.

As he had guessed, it was the Lake Goddess.

Hill looked at the Divine Script inscribed on the stele in front of the Temple.

This beautiful Goddess once desired to live here at her birthplace hand-in-hand with her lover, thus she built this temple.

Hill looked up, seeing the Temple connected to the mountain range behind, from this Lake Temple one could directly reach the Mountain’s Wolf God Temple.

Hill gently touched the stele full of the Lake Goddess’s love, sighing for the temple which its master had barely inhabited.

Although the master’s power had faded, there were no signs that any sea monsters had ever lived here.

Hill solemnly performed a Mage Ceremony, and then quietly stepped inside.
