Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2062: Level nine green skinned monster

Zhang Jialun threw a punch with a loud yell, but it did not land on a beast-shaped parasite opposite him. Instead, he was getting farther away from the target.

He turned his head, glaring angrily at the person who pulled him back.

It was a tall warrior, dressed entirely in green-grade equipment, his gaze firm.

That person did not respond to Zhang Jialun first. Instead, he raised the magic crystal firearm in his hand and fired several consecutive shots at the target ahead. The beast-shaped parasite trembled repeatedly under the attack, its flesh continuously stripped away until its body exploded into several segments.

”Life shouldnʼt be risked like this.”

Even after over eight years in the post-apocalyptic world, many people might have one or two pieces of green-grade equipment, but only Cloud Peak warriors had full sets of green grade equipment and wielded the latest model crystal firearms.

”Stand guard here. The logistics team will come up later. Go and get a green-grade weapon from there. Say Captain Niu Zhan said it from the Third Team of the Guangyao Battle Squad’s Kang Zhiqian Unit. I will also report it here.”

Zhang Jialun was momentarily stunned, but this Cloud Peak warrior named Niu Zhan had already charged forward. Only then did Zhang Jialun see that around Niu Zhan, nine other Cloud Peak warriors were coordinating with each other, cooperating in combat with the war team he was in.

Initially, many war teams from other factions came here with a concern: they would be used as cannon fodder. After all, many people came here not voluntarily; they were semi-forced by various Cloud Peak war teams.

But they had to come because Cloud Peak was now the true hegemon and actual controller of the region. The consequences of not coming might be more severe than coming.
That worry persisted even after arriving here.

Only when the battle truly began did they believe that Cloud Peak genuinely wanted them to cooperate in the attack, not to be cannon fodder.

Zhang Jialun entered the battlefield with his team the moment the battle started, so naturally, he couldnʼt see many of Cloud Peakʼs arrangements. But the roar of magic crystal cannons, the rockets passing overhead, and the self-destruct gene soldiers falling from the sky moments ago made him know that Cloud Peak had always been there, paving the way for them.

That Cloud Peak would do this not only satisfied Zhang Jialun, a six-star evolved, but also other non-Cloud Peak affiliated people.

What none of them expected was that Cloud Peakʼs main war teams would enter the battlefield so quickly and fight alongside them.

And they could even get a weapon? Green-grade?

Like most post-apocalyptic evolved, Zhang Jialun considered weapons the most worthwhile equipment to invest in. His customary battle knife was green-grade, but it was shattered by a powerful parasite during the previous battle, leaving him extremely distressed. Now he could get another one?

Cloud Peakʼs weapons were famously good.

”Why are you spacing out!” A slap landed on his shoulder, making Zhang Jialunʼs body sway. He knew without looking back; it was his vice-leader, the seven-star evolved Ai Dadu.

”My weapon is gone. The Cloud Peak person said they could give me one.” As Zhang Jialun spoke, he glanced sideways and smiled upon seeing Ai Dadu.

Turns out this vice-leaderʼs hands were also empty; his weapon must have been destroyed.

”Damn, these bastardsʼ bones are really hard!”

Zhang Jialun deeply resonated with the vice-leaderʼs statement.

Over these eight-plus years, he had battled against no less than eight hundred, if not a thousand, types of evolved life, but none had bodies as hard as these parasites. This naturally referred to situations at the same level.

”It seems Cloud Peak was well-prepared for this. Iʼve encountered several similar situations already.” As he spoke, the vice-leader looked somewhat enviously at the Cloud Peak warriors, almost all dressed in green equipment, cooperating with these war teams in squad formations. The tactical competence and combat power they displayed were truly incomparable to other war teams.

In a short while, dozens of people had gathered around the vice-leader, mostly those whose weapons or key protective gear were damaged. They were waiting for Cloud Peakʼs logistics team members to come, replenish supplies, and then continue fighting.

But suddenly, some unusual sounds came from not far ahead, followed by increasingly intense combat noises, making everyone realize something might have happened up front.

”Dadu, donʼt just stand there dammit, come get stuff quickly, then hold the line! Those monsters are counterattacking!”

Ai Dadu and Zhang Jialun turned and saw their own leader leading a five-person Cloud Peak squad rushing over swiftly.

Cloud Peakʼs logistics troops were not the traditional kind carrying large and small supply packs. The five-person squad consisted of four guards and another person carrying spatial equipment with supplies inside.

Numerous pieces of equipment were taken out and distributed to these people. In this short period of less than a minute, the sounds of fierce fighting ahead grew even louder. They even saw another volley of rocket rain; this was already the third time. But after the bombardment, these people, who only had a brief time to familiarize themselves with their equipment, actually heard that the battle line seemed to have moved closer to their direction again...

This meant... the attacking forces were retreating!

”Whatʼs going on?”

Ai Dadu grabbed someone who had withdrawn from the front to replenish weapons here and asked.

”These damned beasts suddenly started counterattacking like they donʼt want to live anymore. Not only that, but some very special types appeared. Some can lay transparent threads between buildings. Our people bump into them; as long as they arenʼt wearing green-grade or above defensive equipment, their bodies get cut in half. Thereʼs also a type of worm that can burrow in the soil, specifically targeting our lower regions. Green equipment isnʼt good enough; blue is needed. It bites and then runs away. Those things are small to begin with and fast. Once they enter the ground, you canʼt find them. There are quite a few other disgusting things. Be careful when you go up; donʼt get tricked.”

This person panted twice, took a weapon from the Cloud Peak supply officer, drank some water, and then ran forward again.

For this battle, Cloud Peak had long offered rewards to all participating teams. As long as there were merits, the rewards were quite enticing. However, due to previous suspicions about Cloud Peak, people didnʼt look too closely; now, everyone believes it wasnʼt false.

Indeed, risking oneʼs life now might lead to death, but which day in the post-apocalyptic world wasnʼt one with their head hanging on their belt? Fighting hard now, as long as one survives, can save a year or two of struggle—worth it! So even knowing the road ahead is perilous, they charge forward bravely.

Ai Dadu and Zhang Jialunʼs leader yelled, asking if they were ready. Seeing everyone look up at him, he waved his hand, ”Follow me!”

These team members immediately followed.

Zhang Jialun followed behind. His strength and combat power determined his position in the team: responsible for flank attacks. Carrying a brand-new green-grade battle knife, he gradually approached the frontline with the team. But before he could charge to the very front, he was stunned.

He saw a corpse. Just over ten minutes ago, this person was still talking to him. Zhang Jialun clearly remembered his name: Niu Zhan.
