Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2059: Battle potential (1)

”Teacher Le, Sister Hong, you should still go back. With you two here, Iʼm already nervous before the fight even starts.”

Liang Chuyin was going crazy.

She was responsible for the attack on the eastern side of Mei City. With her were the posthumous child team of Ah Tao and the teams of Tonghu and Xiaoli, a couple who now each led one, as well as Sister Rongʼs team. The latterʼs main task was to protect these two pillars of Cloud Peak.

Because the eastern side faced a river on one side and a half-height mountain on the other, which looked barren but was covered with a lifeform extremely similar to rock. They had no active attacking ability; only when life approached would they suddenly secrete a viscous liquid, trapping the life there, making them unable to break free, slowly being sucked dry—no, sucked clean. This lifeform wouldnʼt spare even a hair of its prey.

No lifeform or evolved wanted to get trapped up there.

Therefore, on the battlefield east of Mei City, which had the narrowest cross-section among the four directions, having too many people was useless. Hence, the number of troops was somewhat less than in the other directions.

Moreover, Liu Zhenghong and Le Dayuan, who came with the army, were also in the group.

”Not leaving!” Le Dayuan smiled cheerfully. He not only came himself but also brought many of his artisans. They needed to on-site calibrate many devices and collect data, especially for war fortresses. They had improved numerous models; many were used for the first time today.

”Not leaving.” Liu Zhenghong teased Liang Chuyin with an identical reply. She also brought some researchers, though not as many as Le Dayuan, to collect some parasitic worm samples. The task Xia Lei gave her had some leads but still required large amounts of experimentation.

Liang Chuyin sighed speechlessly.
Even though she was now a nine-star evolved and selected as a candidate for the next group going to space, she wasnʼt truly fearless. These two were too important to Cloud Peak. If something happened in her defense zone, she feared Ye Zhongming might divorce her.

”Once the fighting starts later, donʼt go forward.” The influencer anxiously instructed.

”Alright, alright, understood. No matter what, weʼre both eight-star evolved; how could something happen so easily?”

Liu Zhenghong pushed Liang Chuyin forward, saying while pushing, ”Fight well later, show Cloud Peakʼs aura, show your nine-star evolved’s strength.”

Liang Chuyinʼs face showed utter despair upon hearing this, as if life were so hard.

After Liang Chuyin left, Liu Zhenghong walked to Le Dayuanʼs side and asked, ”That matter you mentioned, any new developments?”

Le Dayuan shook his head.

”No, only that one time. But you know, in this aspect, I wouldnʼt be mistaken.”

A rare look of worry appeared on Le Dayuanʼs face.

”Then why did you place it so far away?” Liu Zhenghong asked.

Le Dayuan snorted coldly, ”I wouldnʼt be mistaken, but why has there been no activity since then? I think it might be because I was nearby. Now I send it out, hoping it might reappear so we can confirm or even capture it!”

Liu Zhenghong kept silent for a while and said, ”Little Ye isnʼt here. Those outstanding in mental power are only Red Hair and Talking Lady. Weʼve always been wary of Talking Lady and canʼt use her. Should we call Red Hair to help?”

Le Dayuan thought about it and shook his head, ”A big battle is imminent. Red Hair has her defense zone; calling her now isnʼt appropriate. Wait until after this battle. If that machine truly undergoes some changes, then let it happen. I donʼt believe with so many top-tier lifeforms in Cloud Peak, we canʼt control it!”

Hearing her husband say this, Liu Zhenghong stopped saying anything, but the nervousness in her heart lingered.

………………………………

As the attack time approached, the Cloud Peak-affiliated warriors became increasingly pumped and excited. This truly close-to-ten-million-level battle was something no one had ever experienced.

Xia Lei watched the time and the cityʼs internal movements. At a certain moment, she said into the battle contribution badge, ”Begin.”

The entire battlefield, previously relatively quiet, suddenly began moving!

It was a shaking like a mountain collapsing and the earth splitting. Countless evolved charged towards the not-very-large small city from all directions.

The previously calm city sky was now filled with various forms of energy running wild.

As the attacking side, Cloud Peak didnʼt truly use the two million evolved who came to help as cannon fodder. With Xia Leiʼs command to begin, a large shadow flew out from behind the formation.

The terrain of Mei City wasnʼt particularly low-lying; it was somewhat lower east, higher west, but the difference wasnʼt great. However, Cloud Peak utilized this characteristic, building many elevated platforms on the western, southwestern, and northwestern sides. Some long-range forces and evolved stood on them, launching the first wave of attacks on Mei City.

Because the parasitic worms in Mei City hadnʼt stopped Cloud Peakʼs arrival at all, these platforms were built very close to Mei City and had a strong sense of layering. The long-range attackers on each platform were arranged beforehand according to their ability range, staggered and orderly, not chaotic at all.

At the first moment of attack, their attacks were launched.

These long-range attackers were more relaxed compared to those charging on the ground because their attack directions and frequencies were predetermined; they only needed to follow regulations to launch attacks strictly.

Once they completed their attacks, the ground troops would charge into the city.

Bows, crossbows, firearms, etc., were just the basics. Massive skills and various bizarre attack methods were what truly opened peopleʼs eyes.

Simultaneously, other sounds also rang out.

In terms of attack layers, these attackersʼ attacks landed in Mei City, the farthest only within one or two kilometers of the suburbs. Their main function was actually to reduce difficulties for the vanguardʼs entry, giving this siege a good start.

What was truly hopeful was the magic crystal cannons that began emitting dull roars about five minutes later.

Around Mei City, Cloud Peak brought a full five thousand magic crystal cannons this time, among them, one thousand were the ultimate Annihilation type!

In battles to occupy the China region, the most Annihilation-type magic crystal cannons used at once were only fifty! Many thought, including those on Cloud Peak Manorʼs walls, the total of such heavy weapons was at most three to four hundred. Who would have thought Cloud Peak deployed one thousand here alone?

No one knew if this was all of Cloud Peakʼs cannons; even the vast majority of Cloud Peak members didnʼt know.

The other four thousand, though not as terrifying as the Annihilation type, also had huge strength. Together with the Annihilation types, they formed the most powerful firepower suppression.

As for why they fired only five minutes after the battle started, because... Xia Lei wanted to see the parasitic worms gather inside the city!
