Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2031: Bad situation

The hatch opened, and Ye Zhongming saw Jie Suʼs smiling face.

”White Robe just sent me a message, saying Iʼm fickle, forgetting him after meeting you. In such a short time, the number of times weʼve met rivals the number of times I met him over several years.” After many events, Jie Su and Ye Zhongming had become very familiar. Jie Su patted Ye Zhongmingʼs shoulder and laughed.

But Ye Zhongming almost collapsed from his pat.

Jie Suʼs expression changed, his gaze turning sharp.

”Who?”

Ye Zhongming shook his head. ”I did it to myself; it has nothing to do with anyone else. We can talk about the specifics later when we have time. First, tell me about the situation.”

Jie Su saw the Bronze Camp assault team disembark from the spacecraft one by one. Although he didnʼt understand why Ye Zhongming brought these people, he didnʼt ask now.

As he led Ye Zhongming towards the transport vehicle, he said softly, ”The spacecraft and flight route issues are settled—twelve in total: four ʼTao Haiʼ-class cargo ships and eight ʼLovʼ-class frigates. Sixty percent are new. Without external attacks, they can serve for at least another thirty years.”

Ye Zhongming let out a soft, surprised ʼohʼ. This was an unexpected delight. Both the quantity and quality completely exceeded expectations. If that were the case, as long as the mining side could keep up, efficiency would increase significantly compared to the estimate, and the gains would naturally be much greater.

Involuntarily, Ye Zhongming sighed inwardly at how convenient it was for powerful races to get things done, settling such a matter in such a short time.
Jie Su didnʼt reveal that he had handled this matter himself; otherwise, Ye Zhongming wouldnʼt have thought this way.

The group boarded the transport vehicle and began moving from the spaceport into the Survivor Fortress.

”Regarding Yisewei, the news from Sheke Star isnʼt very optimistic. The voices within their race approving of the marriage alliance hold the upper hand. Iʼve tried to contact Yisewei several times without success. White Robe clearly has feelings for her, so we need to address this matter. Otherwise, once Sheke Star makes a decision, changing it will be impossible.”

In the space with just the two of them, Jie Su said to Ye Zhongming.

Now, within their alliance, undoubtedly, Yisewei, Jie Su, White Robe, and Ye Zhongming were the core. If one of the core members were restricted due to such a matter, it would undoubtedly be a fatal blow. And this didnʼt just involve Yisewei herself; it also involved White Robe. If the feared event occurred, he would also suffer a blow, something neither Jie Su nor Ye Zhongming wanted to see.

”Can the Su Race exert some influence?” Ye Zhongming frowned.

Jie Su shook his head. ”Arenʼt you already clear about the Su Raceʼs way of doing things? Why would they step forward for such a matter? Moreover, from their perspective on issues, they would clearly approve of Yisewei marrying some prince of the Huoʼer Star people. Actually, this is the view of the vast majority.”

If the Su Race wouldnʼt intervene, what would you do? Ye Zhongming frowned. The pressure brought by not having strong personal strength or influence was very obvious at this moment.

Previously, the two had said they could first eliminate the intended marriage partner!

But saying it was easy, doing it wasnʼt simple at all. Even killing a minor figure from Huoʼer Star cost Ye Zhongming half his life. Trying to kill one of their princes—the chance of success would be appallingly low.

”Iʼll continue to inquire. If we still have time, then weʼll do things step by step, letting the people of Sheke Star see White Robeʼs potential. If time is urgent, weʼll really have to take action. Although difficult, I think itʼs not impossible to kill him.”

Jie Su and White Robe were sworn brothers; he would never allow his brotherʼs future wife to marry anyone else.

Ye Zhongming nodded. ”Perhaps we can first spread some rumors, like about the scandals and past of that marriage candidate, like the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs ulterior motives towards Sheke Star, like who within Sheke Star most supports the alliance—we can spread some rumors about him being close to Huoʼer Star...”

”These might be easily seen through by discerning people, but they would have a market among ordinary people. Once the matter becomes bigger and more people oppose it, even if we canʼt completely stop this matter, delaying it a bit would be good. What we lack most now is time.”

Hearing Ye Zhongming say this, Jie Su nodded in agreement. This kind of thing only he could do; Ye Zhongming and the Star-Eye Clan temporarily didnʼt have the ability to spread such rumors within their Survivor Fortress.

Having tentatively decided on the matter of Yisewei, Jie Su moved on to the main topic.

”The matter of cooperation with the Su Race isnʼt going too well.”

Ye Zhongming wasnʼt surprised at all and just said, ”Tell me.”

”I spoke beforehand about this matter to a few people who have been good to me and support me. They all have some status within the Su Race. If I could gain their support, things would be much easier.”

Jie Suʼs brow, like Ye Zhongmingʼs, remained furrowed. Even before finishing, it was clear things really werenʼt going smoothly.

”However, among them, very few clearly expressed support. The better ones just held a wait-and-see attitude or said they would follow the clanʼs decision. The rest directly refused, saying this matter shouldnʼt be pursued, even advising me not to get involved.”

”I gradually spread the various reasons and benefits of the cooperation within the clan, letting more people participate in the discussion. Under this pressure, forcing the clanʼs hand, the Clan Leader convened a high-level meeting, called me in to speak, and after I finished, asked me to leave while they stayed to discuss.”

Sighing, Jie Su gave a brief account and then continued, ”Although a few individuals agreed to cooperate, the vast majority did not. So a decision was made at that time: not to cooperate with you.”

Hearing this, Ye Zhongming smiled bitterly. ”This isnʼt just ʼnot too wellʼ; itʼs completely impossible.”

”You really think thereʼs no possibility at all?” Jie Su retorted.

Ye Zhongming was silent for a moment before saying, ”Not completely hopeless. Thereʼs still a little bit.”

”Yes, you always bring hope in desperate times. This time, itʼd better be the same.” Jie Su laughed.

”Nothing else?” Ye Zhongming asked again.

Jie Su replied, ”Yes.”

”Because the reason you used to come here this time is your Novice reward, our Clan Leader cannot refuse to meet you. At the very least, he can meet you once. That will be your opportunity. Perhaps the only opportunity. And our Clan Leader, at least from my feeling, isnʼt as firmly opposed to cooperation as many others. That counts as the only good news.”

After saying this, Jie Su waved his hand. ”Let me emphasize: this is my feeling. How it really is, only heaven knows.”

These words left Ye Zhongming not knowing whether to laugh or cry. But one thing was confirmed: this cooperation negotiation would undoubtedly be full of hardships.

The transport vehicle slowed down. Ye Zhongming looked outside; a huge city appeared below.

He knew they had arrived at the Su Race.
