Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2057: Demon whale

”Sister Lei, do we still fight?”

Little Tiger stood there, without his previous restlessness, appearing as steady as a mountain.

This was the aura innate to top-tier lifeforms.

Seventy percent of Cloud Peakʼs combat power was currently concentrated around this small city called Mei City.

Within this city, there were over 5.5 million various parasitic worms.

Yes, 5.5 million—an increase of a full half-million in a short period from the initial reconnaissance count.

Cloud Peakʼs people didnʼt know what caused this, but the results from recent high-cost reconnaissance were exactly this.

Cloud Peakʼs main combat teams, aside from those guarding the already captured territories in the China region and defending the manor, were mostly concentrated here. The total number of warriors exceeded one million, excluding around two hundred thousand gene-modified warriors.

Besides them, there were two million other factions’ evolved.

These people were the cannon-fodder troops.
Although the total number had a gap compared to the parasitic worm count in Mei City, Mei City itself wasnʼt large, so the entire Cloud Peak faction had surrounded this small city tightly.

Strangely, the parasitic worms inside, led by the blue-skinned monsters, had completely lost the violent behavior observed during reconnaissance. They stayed quietly in the small city, in an extremely tranquil state.

This situation was unsettling and worrisome, but it wasnʼt why Little Tiger said those words earlier.

The reason Xiao Hu, now a nine-star evolved, said that was because the ʼDemon Whaleʼ had come ashore.

On the east coast, a powerful top-tier lifeform, along with countless underlings, emerged from the sea during a tidal surge, slaughtering everything in a vast coastal area. Even two nearby level nine mutated lifeforms were no match for the monster called the ʼDemon Whaleʼ in a two-on-one fight.

Upon learning the news, Cloud Peak, which had completely occupied that area, ordered an abandonment of that region.

Although marine lifeforms possessed amphibious abilities after becoming powerful, they couldnʼt go too far from the ocean. Based on the characteristics of sea beast tides over the years, they would retreat on their own after some time.

But this time was different.

Led by the powerful lifeform, the ʼDemon Whale,ʼ the sea beast army hadnʼt retreated for two whole months. Instead, they kept expanding their territory.

More frighteningly, among them was a type of lifeform with little combat power but, after coming ashore, would bury itself in the soil. After several days, the soil within tens of meters around it would be eaten into its stomach, creating a pit one to two meters deep. After digesting the soil, the remaining viscous, slurry-like liquid would be spit out, nourishing those lifeforms that had left the ocean for a long time, allowing them to stay ashore.

No one knew what this thing exactly was, but regarding the many, many such lifeforms, everyone felt deep fear.

Countless such lifeforms, along the coast, turned the continent into deep pits. According to reconnaissance results from the ultimate float-balls, within a week, they turned a twenty-kilometer stretch from the coastline, one hundred kilometers long, into a hundred-meter-deep abyssal zone!

These lifeforms started appearing half a month after the ʼDemon Whaleʼ led the army ashore. So far, they had dug down four to five hundred meters within the previously sixty-kilometer inland stretch from the coast, two hundred kilometers long.

Everyone knew what they intended.

They wanted to turn the land into an ocean!

The reason they were currently just digging pits might be that the area wasnʼt large enough, the depth not deep enough yet.

Once their requirements were met, they would likely immediately channel seawater in.

These creatures were corroding the territory of terrestrial life!

This matter was too severe. If allowed to develop like this, within a few years, humans might only inhabit mountain ranges.

Now, Cloud Peak occupied most of the Chinese region. The only unconquered areas were some places in the south, northwest, and northeast—too far from Cloud Peak, with complex natural environments, requiring more time.

Since the east coast was already occupied, it naturally became Cloud Peakʼs defense zone. Cloud Peak was responsible for pushing these sea beasts back into the sea.

However, according to the plan, it was time to besiege Mei City. This battleʼs duration was unknown. After fighting, there would definitely be losses. By then, attacking the already entrenched ʼDemon Whaleʼ might cost much, much more.

Within Cloud Peak, two voices emerged. One side thought since they came to Mei City, finish it before leaving. The other side thought they should push the sea beasts back now, while they hadnʼt gone too far inland.

Otherwise, once they turned those deep trenches into part of the ocean, it would truly be troublesome.

As news gradually spread, the second opinion had now become mainstream.

After all, these parasitic worms were here; they could return after dealing with the sea beasts.

Xia Lei knew Little Tiger was the one those people pushed to suggest to her. In terms of seniority and relationship, he was the suitable candidate.

Xia Lei didnʼt immediately answer Little Tiger. Instead, she stood on a high point, looking at Mei City not far away. After a long while, she replied with one word.

”Fight!”

Xia Lei pointed ahead and said, ”Although I have no evidence, I always feel these guys inside are watching us. Even though we surround them, whoʼs to say this isnʼt what they hope for?”

Little Tiger also looked at Mei City ahead, thinking of the anomalies these parasitic worms displayed recently, indeed, as Xia Lei said.

”Once we retreat, too many opportunities will be given to them. If they attack then, what awaits us will surely be a terrible defeat.”

”Our Cloud Peak hasnʼt failed for too long, so we can no longer accept failure.”

Xia Lei turned to look at Little Tiger. ”Even if we could retreat and these things donʼt stop us, how long would mobilizing troops to the East Sea take? In haste, what about these two million evolved? When we traveled long distances to get there, can we truly win that war? The intel said this sea beast tideʼs numbers far exceed any previous time. They landed along the long coastline, covering over 100,000 square kilometers. Are our numbers enough?”

”Also, killing these parasitic worms is what Zhongming needs us to do. So even if it means fighting Cloud Peakʼs people to the last, we must swallow this bone first!”

Xia Leiʼs words were full of determination. She didn’t look at Little Tiger but said, ”Tell everyone, the attack will begin in one hour. No tactics; only one thing needs to be done... go forward!”

”Kill all enemies before us!”
