Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2045: I still have

”Seeing him today, isnʼt it a bit too rushed?” The wife placed the prepared dishes on the table. Yaohan Su, sitting across from her, paused his hand holding the utensils.

”Is it?” Yaohan Su smiled and began to eat. ”Have to meet sooner or later. Earlier might settle things sooner.”

”By doing this, you still give everyone a feeling that you are very concerned or unwilling to give up. It will always have some impact on your future overall control of the clan.”

Yaohan Su chewed slowly, saying in a measured tone, ”In the Su Clanʼs history, although there were times when the clan leader held exclusive power, when it came to matters concerning the entire clanʼs future, whether the clan leader could promptly override dissenting opinions and solve problems required immense courage and determination.”

”But what crisis concerning the future does the Su Clan have now?” The wife did not understand her husbandʼs mind. She felt that the appearance of the traveling formation had given her husband inflated ambitions, which had stimulated his desire for power. As a wife, she had the responsibility and necessity to remind him.

Yaohan Su fell somewhat silent. After a long while, he said, ”Donʼt you think the Su Clanʼs stagnation itself is a crisis?”

”The Su Clan is stagnant, but other races are regressing overall. Isnʼt this another form of progress?” The wife was not someone who ignored the outside world; she was very clear about many things and had her own judgments.

”The overall might be regressing, but the power of the super major clans, even the major clans, is actually progressing. I judge that the two camps have already reached an unspoken understanding: they will reshuffle the cards, washing away those races and lives they consider burdensome to obtain more resources and living space. Once they succeed, whether to counterattack the Slave Races or completely abandon the fight against the Slave Races to seek new planets to settle, they can choose flexibly.”

What Yaohan Su saw and what his wife saw were two completely different things.

”And our Su Clan, although still a super major clan, our overall ranking has not moved since falling to last place. Yes, it seems we are still okay, a leading race among the three major camps. But look at those major clans ranked behind us, isnʼt the gap with us getting smaller and smaller? And this is just surface data. What about the real situation? Besides the traveling formation, our Su Clan seems to have nothing hidden; even the data is somewhat exaggerated. But other races are hiding their strengths; the real situation remains uncertain. It might be worse than any of us imagined!”
For so many years as the Su Clanʼs leader, Yaohan Su rarely argued with others and never expressed his thoughts so clearly. But today, he faced his wife, hoping to gain support.

”Besides ourselves, the races attached to us are also too weak. If war really broke out, the help they could give us would be minimal. We would have to do everything ourselves, even allocating strength to shelter them. As for the other two camps, they have several major clans under them, all capable of holding their own. The disparity in strength between us and them is too great.”

”In this situation, as the Su Clanʼs leader, I have to try every possible means to solve these issues. Even if I canʼt completely make the Su Clan rest easy, at least I must take action. This way, even if it ultimately remains useless, I will not regret it.”

The Su Clanʼs leader stopped eating. His voice was low, his expression solemn, clearly showing these were his true thoughts.

The wife lowered her head, not speaking. Only after finishing her meal did she softly say, ”But your idea of nurturing Jie Su, even wanting him to become your successor, is still too dangerous. It could cause division within the Su Clan.”

Yaohan Su waved his hand, saying no more.

………………

Ye Zhongming sat at the table, staring intently at a pot of flowers on it.

No matter how extravagantly he had spoken to Jie Su, he actually had no confidence that the things he had prepared could impress the Su Clan. Once they proved ineffective, then after failure, the situations he and Jie Su, and others worried about would truly occur.

At that time, he really would be somewhat at a loss about what to do.

Calculating his thoughts, Ye Zhongming sat there, continuing to stare blankly.

In a room not far from him, Yaohan Su, Jie Su, and three other people were watching Ye Zhongming on a light screen.

”This guy really sits calmly. For so long, he hasnʼt shown a trace of anxiety or dissatisfaction.”

One person said this. If Ye Zhongming were here, he would certainly recognize him: it was precisely that Cheng Su elder who went to the Novice battlefield to bring Jie Su back.

The people in the room were all from the clan leader Yaohan Suʼs faction; one could say that they were this clan leaderʼs trusted aides.

Although Ye Zhongming had said so many ʼboastingʼ words to Elder Cheng Su at the time, it must be said that Elder Cheng Su still somewhat appreciated him. At least this youngster dared to think, and now it was proven he dared to act. This point alone was much stronger than many young people of the Su Clan.

”Jie Su said this Star-Eye Clanʼs Novice First always brings incredible things. I really canʼt wait to meet him.”

The speaker was an elegant middle-aged man, wearing simple cloth clothes, holding an iron ruler in his hand. His hair and eyebrows were trimmed into extremely stylish shapes; the whole person gave an impression of extreme cleanliness and freshness.

He was called Huo Zhi, the only elder in the entire Su Clan who was not of direct lineage, and the only non-direct lineage person who could learn the Ten Great Formations. Moreover, because of his excellent talent, he was now one of the strongest among the elders, mastering three major formations, somewhat stronger than the previous Su Clan leader.

If not for many Su Clan members still distrusting him, Huo Zhi would be even stronger.

Promoting Huo Zhi to the rank of elder and granting him the right to learn the Ten Great Formations was one of the few autocratic actions Yaohan Su had taken during his many years as clan leader. Under these circumstances, Huo Zhi naturally became a staunch member of the clan leaderʼs faction.

”Broken through?” Yaohan Su smiled and asked Jie Su.

”Hmm.” Jie Su nodded. He suddenly thought: Ye Zhongming said he wanted to realize his potential and show it to the clan leader. Now, this counted, right? Of course, it was still not enough.

”Intermediate formations?” another person asked in surprise.

This was Yaohan Suʼs guard captain, Zhou Su, one of the few purely combat-type clansmen in the Su Clan. The probability of such people appearing was even lower than that of formation geniuses. What was even more valuable was that he was also of direct lineage, completely trustworthy.

Because Yaohan Su invented the following formation and the time was still short, there was no particularly clear system or grading standard. Strength could only be measured by the number and grade of controlled formations. Previously, Jie Su could only use some low-level formations or some so-called intermediate formations that actually had very low power—ʼfake intermediateʼ formations.

Even then, the time he could use the traveling formation to fight was also very short.

Now, Jie Suʼs Furelai had broken through fifty thousand; he could truly use the following formation ability with intermediate formations.

Yaohan Su laughed heartily; the gloom caused by his wifeʼs words earlier was completely dispelled.
