The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 447: Chapter 447 Pretend to Like It Even If It’s Just Pretending_1

”No way!”

To Layne Reid’s surprise, Lennon Reid flatly rejected his suggestion.

Layne Reid was baffled.

”Why, wouldn’t this be a good opportunity to gain favor with the Vasquez Family?”

Lennon Reid said solemnly, ”I know you want to deal with Carson Flores, to get revenge, but considering Carson Flores managed to kill six Grandmasters of the Vasquez Family and has an Innate Grandmaster backing him, such a person—if the Vasquez Family could successfully kill him, that would be fine. But what if they can’t, and instead he turns the tables on them? Then do you think you, as the informant, wouldn’t be resented by him?”

Layne Reid blinked, ”That couldn’t be, could it? After all, the Vasquez Family has two Innate Grandmasters.”

Lennon Reid spoke gravely, ”The Frost Family also has a Great Grandmaster, and who knows if the one hiding behind Carson Flores could be an Innate Grandmaster from the Frost Family?”

Layne Reid said reluctantly, ”So, even knowing this information, should we pretend we don’t know anything?”

Lennon Reid chuckled, ”Of course not. I’m just saying you shouldn’t be the one to tell them. But I didn’t say others couldn’t mention it, did I? The Reid Family has a very suitable person for this task...”

Layne Reid asked, ”Who?”

Lennon Reid answered, ”Your cousin Kaylee Reid’s husband, Oscar Miller!”

Layne Reid wondered, ”Why him?”

”The Miller Family of Seashore was wiped out by Carson Flores, and Oscar Miller has a life-and-death feud with Carson Flores. All you need to do is secretly inform Oscar Miller of this news, and he will naturally choose to tell the Vasquez Family.”

Lennon Reid explained to Layne Reid, ”If the Vasquez Family can exterminate Carson Flores, then you will naturally have avenged yourself. Even if the Vasquez Family fails and gets overturned by him, if it gets traced back, the furthest it will go is Oscar Miller. As a son-in-law from outside the family, his actions can’t implicate our Reid Family. After all, his deep grudge with Carson Flores makes his reporting quite normal, doesn’t it?”

Layne Reid was no fool; once his father explained, he immediately understood.

”I got it, I’ll do it right away!”

...

”Honey, are you ready? Shall we go?”

”I’ll be right there, dear.”

The handsome Oscar Miller, dressed in a trench coat, adjusted his collar in the mirror with an expressionless face.

After looking at himself for a few seconds, Oscar Miller stretched out his hand and vigorously rubbed his stiff face, revealing a suave and charming smile.

After practicing his smile several times and ensuring it appeared natural rather than forced, Oscar Miller finally left the dressing room with a smile on his face.

His wife Kaylee Reid saw him, smiled, and walked up to him arm in arm, praising, ”Husband, you look so handsome!”

Oscar Miller smiled and replied, ”Wife, you are very beautiful as well.”

Kaylee Reid said shyly, ”I’m too fat, not attractive.”

Oscar Miller affectionately responded, ”But you have a beautiful set of features, especially your eyes. And you have a good personality with a kind and gentle heart.”

Kaylee Reid happily asked, ”Husband, are you speaking from the heart?”

Oscar Miller smiled, ”Of course, I’m speaking from the heart.”

Oscar Miller finished speaking and gently kissed Kaylee Reid’s plump face, then smiled, ”Let’s go.”

”Okay!”

Kaylee Reid, arm in arm with Carson Flores, happily headed downstairs.

In the living room, Dexter Reid was sitting on the sofa watching TV. As the couple came down, his gaze swept over them, first glancing at his daughter, seeing her happy expression, then observing Oscar Miller’s smile, his expression softened.

He knew Oscar Miller was pretending; as a man, he could understand others.

Under no special circumstances, who would genuinely like a woman who weighed two hundred pounds?

Dexter Reid understood, but this was his expectation of Oscar Miller.

Even if it was pretense, he had to appear genuinely fond of Kaylee Reid, the price being the Reid Family’s protection of Oscar Miller, aiding his progress, and even avenging him directly if the circumstances were right.

”Dad, we’re going out shopping,” said Kaylee Reid.

Dexter Reid smiled and nodded, ”Go ahead, come back for dinner in the evening.”

”Okay!”

Oscar Miller also greeted Dexter Reid and then left with Kaylee Reid.

He harbored no ill feelings toward Dexter Reid and Kaylee Reid; after all, it was a clear transaction.

If Kaylee Reid didn’t genuinely like him, how could this arrangement have come to be?

There were plenty who wished to marry Kaylee Reid and leap into the dragon’s gate.

The two opened the door and went to the mall. While they were out shopping, his phone suddenly received a text message.

From an unknown number.

Oscar Miller thought it was a spam message and glanced over it casually, but then he couldn’t take his eyes off of it, his eyes revealing a surprised expression.

For the next while, Oscar Miller was somewhat distracted, and only when Kaylee Reid went to try on clothes did he hurriedly pick up the phone, switched to an anonymous number he had prepared earlier, and sent a message to the Vasquez Family Head.

”Carson Flores is currently hiding in the Frost Family of Xijing; he’s the son of Lucy Frost, Dawson Frost’s second daughter, which makes him Dawson Frost’s grandson.”
